Let's attempt to isolate the issue. The goal here is to determine if fire fox
is compatible with the version of windows you are running.


You may need sided help here. Be my eyes would be a good tool to use.

Stop jaws and then start fire fox. If the issue persists you're screwed. You'll
need to upgrade either windows and or jaws if you want to continue using the
latest browsers which will run on windows.

there is 3 different ways to get to the book mark list. each method
works differently.
there is control shift b, this one closes the list as soon as you
press escape. alt b. this one does not show all the bookmark links.
control i opens the entire list of links and you have the option to
search the entire list. it stays opened until you close it again with
control i.
but as i said both jaws and window eyes will hang when you open the
bookmark list unless you turn off the virtual cursor first. or browse
mode for window eyes.
also the virtual cursor will turn back on every time you leave the
bookmark list and will hang again when you press f6 to put focus
back on
the list.

at the headquarters of the apartment complex where I live. In fact, I
unplugged the cable I have from the ethernet connection on the back
of my computer, and I still get the same "Firefox is not responding",

It started with the 32-bit version. So I switched to the 64-bit version,
thinking that would speed up the response time, but something happened along
the way, which I'm not sure what.

even with jaws i had to go back to the 32bit version.

romance books that you borrow or 1 credit of the regularmembership for
$14.95. I am looking at another audio book club that you can download
unlimited books for free for the first month and $19.95 per month each month
after. It says that you can read the books on the computer or any other
means... Not sure how the books are formatted though. I am tempted to

Yes I would recommend that you enable the light version of Outlook on
the web. This would make it easier for you to use with JAWS.

for NVDA, there is an addon for VLC. do you have it installed?

I don't have any problem using Winamp on Windows 10, but someone mentioned about the VLC addon for NVDA, and in my case, it would be nice to have an alternative, just in case Winamp gets wonky.

As a guide to what could be done you only have to load the NVDA VLC addon which completely transforms VLC information feedback. For example or all the information you require you only have to press the I key.

Often I quit Jaws when I am going to be using VLC as the experience is so much better supported.

to given that WinAmp is increasingly unsupported and to some extent obsolete, I moved to VLC as WinAmp kept on crashing under Windows 10, and failed to play some streams that VLC had no problem with, it seems utterly bizarre that Jaws provides no support for VLC at all.

You can use the touch cursor to glean certain info -- I've found that that works, but it is a pain. I feel I used to get more info from jAWS using vlc, and I'm not quite sure what has changed. There were always finnicky weird things, like going into advanced preferences sometimes resulting in the dialogue not reading properly, but now I can't get much feedback the standard way. Weird. Still use it all the time for videos though of course.

$150. the $30 discount only applies if you opted for the free JAWS offer until June 30, at which time the Typability will also expire. the discounted offer for Typability only works with the free offer for JAWS. they are working on a version of Typability that will work with non expiring versions of JAWS, but even then the Typability will expire on June 30. so the price for Typability is still and will always be $150.

synthesiser, whose pitch would increase as the letters got “closer” to

Honestly, typing is one of the most important skills lacking in the
Blind.  Mostly among the newly Blind.

However, with that in mind, in my opinion, I would state that it is
despicable to make profit off a typing program designed for the Blind.

I think makers of software for the Blind, or other disabilities if it
exists, need to stop making a living off the backs of the disabled, and
spearhead an open-source movement for specialized software for the
disabled,  and get a real job.

It will always be a small market and the cost will always be ten to
twenty times the cost to the consumer of similar software, to the
general public because of its limited market.

That is why the rehabilitation-specific software that state agencies
purchase cost a couple million dollars per agency and about a third of a
million annually to maintain it, for a product that by standards of
complexity could otherwise easily be done as open-source software.

I have a degree in business management, so it's not like I don't
understand how business works.  And I find it even worse when the
disabled themselves engage in profiting off their brothers and sisters,
especially when they have or still do exist on a disability-related income.

But to my original point, there needs to be an open-source typing
program designed for the Blind, because a good one would incorporate
some screenreader keyboard commands, Fun With Typability does this, I
don't recall if TTT does, it's been a long time since I taught with that
one.  So they are decent products in terms of what is needed, they only
need to be free to consumers.  Perhaps they should operate like some
programs do, free for home use, and a cost for business use.

reset codes, and unless you buy directly from them they will not
honor anyone buying outside of their company. Stores like Maxi aides
or an on-line company that sell their product cannot make any
decisions to reset your three activations.

Now, I’ve had dealings with the creator of the scripts, and decided
to move my clients over to Fun with Typability, because it’s set up
for the Jaws user.

They will work with you as well when it comes down to helpful hints
and training methods.

I love VlC. No scripts anywhere to my knowledge.
Now here's the thing. I used to be able to access the various VLC dialogues, like the preferences ... th eyw ere a bit finnicky with speech but they were usable.
Lately, I can't get anything from them. I don’t' know if this is my setup somehow or if vlc has changed something. But I'm not happy -- I need to adjust the equaliser for certain things and now I can't. it's a pain, though I'm sure with VlC, there are probably other ways to do it like straight from the command line that I'm not aware of. Haha

are you useing the 32 or 64bit version of firefox?
the 64bit is more unstable then the 32bit version.
even with jaws i had to go back to the 32bit version.
it has been this way for years. even though i have the 64bit version of windows 7 and 10.

What's actually happening is, no matter what I do, it seems that when I open
Firefox, everything freezes, and Firefox seems to hang. I press Alt+Tab to get

says "Firefox not responding". When I press Alt+F4, it says "Firefox is not

"Windows is checking for a solution". What drives me really mad is this has
been happening since February 14, 2020. Even worse, when I reopen Firefox, the
whole vicious cycle begins again! What do I do next?

there is 3 different ways to get to the book mark list. each method works
differently.
there is control shift b, this one closes the list as soon as you press
escape. alt b. this one does not show all the bookmark links.
control i opens the entire list of links and you have the option to search
the entire list. it stays opened until you close it again with control i.
but as i said both jaws and window eyes will hang when you open the bookmark
list unless you turn off the virtual cursor first. or browse mode for window
eyes.
also the virtual cursor will turn back on every time you leave the bookmark
list and will hang again when you press f6 to put focus back on the list.

turning off the vertual cursor it will hang for over a minute before speech
will come back.
it does this with both jaws and window eyes. it does not with n v d a.

I actually go through an ethernet connection which has its main point at the
headquarters of the apartment complex where I live. In fact, I unplugged the
cable I have from the ethernet connection on the back of my computer, and I
still get the same "Firefox is not responding", and it just hangs there with
my whole machine frozen until I exit Firefox. What's up with that, I wonder?

by unplugging the modem if you don't have it on a power strip.
a few modems have a button you can press to disconnect from the net too.
but you have to do this right after firefox has been installed.

did you turn off the internet connection as soon as you re installed it?
if you don't it will upgrade you as soon as you open it.
you have to leeve your internet connection off until you turn off automatic
updates and i also turn off the background services i think its called. this
is in the same advanced settings area.

This is rather strange, since I can run it fine on this machine with Windows
XP, same version (52.6.0), but I can't seem to run it on my Windows 7 machine
since February 14 of this year. Before then, it was working fine. When I
reinstall it, it automatically tries updating to Firefox 60, and I don't
understand why, because I've turned off updates to Firefox. Has anyone else
had this happen to them?

to given that WinAmp is increasingly unsupported and to some extent obsolete, I moved to VLC as WinAmp kept on crashing under Windows 10, and failed to play some streams that VLC had no problem with, it seems utterly bizarre that Jaws provides no support for VLC at all.
