I think you may have found a bug. Under Number and Date processing in Jaws settings center, there is a checkbox for Say Dollar. If checked, it is supposed to do what you want. But for me, checked or unchecked it says the same thing. The text after that checkbox is: When selected, numbers preceded by a dollar sign are read using the dollars and cents format. For example, $9.95 is read as nine dollars and ninety five cents. To read monetary values less than a dollar, a zero is required to represent dollars. For example, $0.02 is read as two cents. Understanding the Jaws version numbers?
Jay <jcoffin@...>
Hi.
I’m just curious how to understand the Jaws version numbers. For example, 2020.2003.13 I know that 2020 is the year the version is released, and 202003 is the year and month it was released, but what are the last numbers? What is the 13 meaning? Is it a build number or something?
Thanks.

The free ones aren't that good, the clients. Tunnelbear I can't even get to work with Jaws, and hotspot shield is no good either.

Re: Downloading and using Kindle books with JAWS
Hi Jesim/all, I use a braille display, which might have made matters easier. What I do is tab to table of contents, see if there are items I want to skip such as acknowledgments etc., and I choose by arrowing down, the chapter I want to read, or say, the introduction. By hitting enter once highlighted, I am brought to that section and start reading. Hope this helps, Takis

Hi Takis,
Please excuse my ignorance, but once I get to the book title and its chapters, how can I read the book? Should I read it with JAWS, or are they audiobooks? I simply don’t know how to use it.
Best wishes, Gezim

Hi Gezim/all, If installed, then just go to your download link and press it for the book to download. Then find the kindle icon on your desktop or whatever and press it. You should ideally land on your title, which you can press on. Tabbing once, you will get to the table of contents from where you can select the part, chapter you need. Once you get more books, these will appear and I have found that right-arrowing is more handy then down-arrowing if you have many book, as I do have. Hope this helps, Takis

If you have a smart phone, the Kindle app works fine with either Talkback on Android, or VoiceOver on an iPhone. Or, search for Accessible Kindle for PC, and install it. You will need to login with your Amazon account, or create one. Sighted assistance is helpful for that login screen, as it does not read right with JAWS. HTH,

how do I click, "show all appointments" in win10 mail, when using the calendar?
Jessica D <jldail13@...>
Hi, I have a computer running windows 10, and am using the built-in mail app. I’ve connected my accounts, including calendars.
The other day, I put an event on my calendar for this coming Monday, but it got moved to Thursday, so I need to move it.
The problem is that the calendar only shows 3 events at a time, so, I need to press the, “show all appointments” button. Space didn’t do anything, and enter brings up the context menu.
How do I accomplish this?
Thanks,
Jessica

Re: Downloading and using Kindle books with JAWS
Richard Turner <richardturner42@...>
For what it is worth. Using NVDA is much easier. Control+t is suppose to toggle the text to speech reading. Spacebar is supposed to start and stop playback. With Jaws, it appears that you have to use control+t to also start and stop playback. If you have Kindle on your iPhone, you can use regular VoiceOver gestures to read the book.

Do not, and I repeat do not, use Vypr VPN. If you torrent, it will not help as they take the copyright holders rights over yours. If you get locked out of your account, good luck as their customer support has a captcha. Also, for some reason, the client just randomly (with no changes being made by me) stopped working on my laptop one day. - James

From what I've been able to find you are indeed correct, at least of this writing. What's interesting is that Jessa now no longer exists, having been replaced by Aria, and can be confirmed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/speech-service/language-support#text-to-speech -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them. ~ Joshua Liebman

With the discussion of the reading aloud in Microsoft Edge, I tried it out and like the voice it defaulted to, Microsoft Jessa. That apparently is just an online voice and no way to get Jaws to use it. If anyone knows differently, I’d like to hear about it.
Thanks, Richard
