Re: New Edge And Jaws

And whoever told you Edge was not compatible with Jaws is not really telling you the truth. Almost every browser may have little issues, but you can easily use Edge or Chrome, for me Chrome has been my primary browser probably for about 3 years now. My experience with Firefox has always been more flaky which goes to show how subjective this is, but given the market share Google Chrome has and if you add other chromium based browser it’s even more, this is clearly what the majority of people use and from my observations this is no different among the visually impaired community.

That is the accepted wisdom at the moment: Microsoft is no longer developing internet Explorer, so suggest goingr to Google Chrome.
Hacking through browsers is a fact of internet life, and all we can do is take security precautions.

It is no longer safe to use IE because it has not been supported for years, and so is vulnerable to hacking and malware attacks. It is safer to use more modern browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, which are frequently updated and fully supported.

If you want a browser that is essentially identical to Edge and is fully accessible with JAWS, try Google Chrome.

Hello, I got the new Edge installed yesterday and overall it seems to work very well. However, when entering a search term, if you make a mistake and hit the backspace key, it Jaws doesn’t speak the character you deleted, but speaks the first letter.
Anyone else finding this? Is there a fix?

What else can I try?

Are you connecting over bluetooth? Windows is notoriously bad with bluetooth. Was there a driver that you installed for the Touch? Did you try rebooting while the Touch is connected via USB?

Re: Unable To Access Logitech Pop-up

well, what I did was;
1, start menu key takes you to the windows search edit, type in options, you should find/see the Logitech app, press enter,
now, wait a few seconds for the app to load, now you can activate the jaws touch cursor. I was able to update this way. a little clunky, but doable.

No, it cannot. Both Logitech software updates and any firmware updates to the keyboard and/or unifying receiver have to be done via the Logitecch Options software. But it is not a lengthy process and even somebody with basic knowledge can help with it, as long as they know how to use a mouse and click the Update button it’s fine. I guess you could always call Aira, even if takes more than 5 minutes, as long as you are a Jaws user this should fall within the parameters for their free help with Jaws related things which are not accessible. Even Microsoft Accessibility could and would probably do this.

You will most likely need help with that Logitech Options update. You can simply open Logitech Options and the update notice should be there, I also had a firmware update for my keyboard and unifying receiver tonight and except for the title “Firmware Update” Jaws read nothing regardless whether I tried the Touch cursor, actually used my laptop’s touch screen or tried the new Jaws scan cursor which did kick in, but it didn’t read anything. When my wife looked she said it said there was a firmware update and it had an ‘Update” button. She did it for me and all is well now, but you also may need sighted help. Logitech makes great keyboards, but the accessibility of their software totally sucks.

Hello, everyone.
Within the last day or so, whenever I turn on my computer, I get a Logitec pop-up that wants me to install an update of some kind.
However, within a few seconds from when Jaws reads the pop-up, the pop-up disappears, and I can’t seem to do anything to get it back.
I purchased a Logitec K780 bluetooth key-board a month or two ago, which is why I’m sure I’m getting the pop-up.
Has anyone else with Logitec keyboards experienced this issue? If so, have you figured out a way to deal with this pop-up?
Thank you!
