Thanks. Most live and die with Firefox. I get frustrated with that too because it keeps asking me if I want it to remember a user name and password. I know, I am a mess when it comes to things like this.

Hi David, You are describing Edge HTML which originally was included with Windows 10. This new version of Edge which started to be distributed via Windows Update yesterday is based on the open source chromium engine which is aso used by Google Chrome and many other web browsers and it behaves completely differently. In fact, it is very much like Chrome, extremely accessible, very fast and with fantastic keyboard shortcut support. There are no more "opening" or "closing" or whatever other announcements. I really recommend to wait until you get it via Windows Update and then try it. If you use Jaws and ask it to speak the version with Jaws Key + Control + V when the application is open, you should hear something like version 79 with a bunch of other numbers, if it still says version 44 you still have the old Edge. For iPhone users there is also an iOS version of Edge and if you sign in on your PC and your iPhone with your Microsoft Id all your favourites, history and such will sync, I rarely use a browser on my iPhone, but Jonathan Mosen is apparently quite impressed by the iOS version as well as the new chromium based Windows version of Edge. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of David Diamond Sent: Thursday, January 16, 2020 8:30 AM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: The New Edge not that Great with JAWS Yet. Edge OK Now
Debbie April Yuille
Hi All
After many installations and uninstallations, I now seem to have an accessible copy of edge on my computer. For some reason one of the versions I’d downloaded seemed to be in Japanese. Anyway, thanks to those who have commented on my previous email. All is ok now.

The New Edge not that Great with JAWS Yet.
Debbie April Yuille
Hi All
I’ve just installed the new edge from the Microsoft website and I’m finding it not very accessible with JAWS. First of all when navigating around pages you get it saying “Japanese” some of the time as well as the page content. Also, the menu controls are not always read out. I’m using the latest build of JAWS 2020. Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks Debbie

They are stored internally, the only browser where they are stored in a folder is IE.

Hi, just downloaded it. Works quite well. But where are the file locations in programs for favorites, so then I can then copy and paste to my favorites, did not import my favorites, same for google chrome, internet explorer and firefox. Where are they stored. So I can then copy and paste my favorites links which have a folder on the desktop. Thanks.

I have the version that came with 10 bbut I don’t think that it updated. I am using the beta version. Do I have to download it? Also, the version that came with 10 has no previous versons so I assume that it is the old one that did not update. Is there a version number that I can check?

Re: Edge browser release
Randy Barnett
I don't get under the hood and mess around with settings much in
browsers So people that like to tweak browser settings may have a
different experience, but with that said: I have been using the beta for months and it is just as good as
chrome if not better. Hopefully it doesn't track as much of our
online activity as Google Chrome. I know it is Microsoft but one
can wish.

Edge browser release
Mike Fulton <mikefulton95@...>
Hi all, I just saw that the stable version of the edge browser was released. I'm assuming that Edge is supported by JAWS since it is based on Chromium. I was wondering if anyone has tried it, how it compares to Chrome, and what people's thoughts are on switching. Best Mike

Re: function key row on keyboard stopped working
Chris Hill
I could imagine the function keys being changed by an accidental key combination, this happens on some keyboards. The other keys, though, I've never heard of being effected by such a thing. I'd probably hunt down a manual for the keyboard before i gave up.
