Hello,

I wanted to let you know that my second book, Get Cracking with Chrome for Windows, is now available. The comment of one of the reviewers of the pre-release version was: "thank you for your work on this book, and I believe that it will be valuable to both beginners and more advanced users."

You can investigate it at https://www.techforblind.us/get-cracking-with-chrome-for-windows/

I resolved and recovered my password by using a utility called: PCUnlockerPro. It cost me $30, but that was worth it to me as it simply did exactly what it was advertised to do.

You will need sighted assistance though to run the utility.

instructions on creating a windowspe usb boot and instructions to

I did do a search on windowspe as it has been ages since I mest with

If anyone has any instructions to save me some time that would be appreciated.

While this wouldn’t be the proper listserv on which to post this, given that
it was the result of an inaccessibility issue with JAWS, I am posting here
in case one of you have had to deal with this and can be of help.

Last night, I attempted to change my Windows 10 password. The field was
inaccessible and JAWS was not reading it correctly. In hindsight I should
have just walked-away, but I proceeded to change the password. After turning
the computer on today, the password I thought I created has not been
working. Essentially, I am locked-out of my computer.

Any tips, ideas please to recover from this without having to format my

Thanks a bunch!

This has also been driving me mad for months now, Brave does the same thing
as it is based on Chrome.

In the end the solution I found is not to use chrome to download anything
unless it is tiny..

For download only I return to the old trusty Internet explorer – just type
I after pressing windows key and it will probably come up but keep on typing
if it does not.

Press control O and paste in the download link. In IE you will probably
have to press F6 to go to the notification bar to confirm whether you want
to open or save the download.

After this however if you alt tab away from IE you will not be, unlike the
annoying Chrome announcements, me bothered by the download status.

Alt tabbing back into IE will resume the download status announcements or
you can press control J to check on the progress of your download.

Hi,

Is there any way to get Chrome to stop announcing a download in progress

and its time remaining every minute or so? It's very annoying for a

longer download. I've gone in to Chrome settings, and blocked all

notifications, but this has no effect.

Thanks,

Hi Shai,

I'll tell you what I do with contact groups but since I'm running Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 computer with Fusion 2019, your results could differ substantially.

I find the easiest way to edit contact groups is to first make sure that anyone I want to add to a group is first added to my contacts. Then, I start a new email message, execute the To button next to the email address field, and then type the contact group name. I place focus on that contact group name in the search results and then press shift + F10 to open a context menu where I select properties. This presents the list of those currently in the group. I tab once which takes me into the list and when I arrow up and down, Fusion/JAWS reads the members. I then select the add member icon from the ribbon bar where I search for the new contact I want to add to the group.

I hope this helps a bit.

I use Waterfox as one of my browsers, and I like it a lot!

It is very fast, simple to use, and does not have a ton of settings LOL!

It is a spin-off of Firefox, but intended to be faster, lighter, and easier to use than Firefox for those who do not need all of the bells and whistles!

Many web sites show up in Waterfox, just like they do in IE 11.

Give it a try!

You can download a portable version that does not have to be installed either.

That is what I use, and love it, because portable apps can run on your SD drive or wherever, and do not leave a foot print on your computer, because it is not even installed!

Have a great one!

Hello, everyone.

I’ve noticed an interesting issue with my drafts folder in Outlook 2016.

Currently, I’m using Outlook 2016 with Office 365 on this Windows 10 computer.

Once I save a message in my drafts folder, I am unable to edit and then save  it.

When I work on the message, and then attempt to save it, I get the following message:

The item cannot be saved because it was changed by another user or in another wwindow.

I’m then asked if I want to make a copy of the message in the ddefault folder.

I’m not sure how to answer this latter question.

Also, when I try to send the draft message, I get a response that says that the operation cannot be performed because the message  has been changed.

I’m not sure what is going on here.

How can I get things back so that I can actually edit, and then send a message in the drafts folder like we used to be able to do in earlier versions of Outlook?

Thanks for any help on this issue.

Jaws 2019 is pretty good about uninstalling itself, I can’t remember, but it may leave FS Reader, but it’s not difficult to go back to Programs and Features and check, if anything with Freedom Scientific is left simply uninstall it afterwards. I would also recommend you check the checkboxes to uninstall shared components and user settings if you are removing this from your friends system for good.

Mario,

I'm not James, but what the JAWS uninstaller removes has varied over time.  Freedom Scientific, now Vispero, has never been all that good about thoroughly tidying up at uninstall.  On my own system, under Control Panel, Programs & Features, all of the JAWS-Related stuff shows up with "Freedom Scientific" as the first two words.  So, after doing the JAWS uninstall, I'd go back and check whether any other Freedom Scientific stuff still exists that one wishes to remove.

The last time I did a JAWS install was in July of this year for JAWS 2019 so that I could run it in 40-minute mode to do a couple of tests.  I imagine that, eventually, the Freedom Scientific branding will disappear, but I doubt that it has yet.  Who knows, they may keep that name since it's so well known.

Thanks, Brian, I knew about Windows Home and Pro with respect to feature differences, but I use Windows 10 Professional at my retail business and just wanted to make sure Lazesoft is not limiting their home version to work only with Windows Home which I assume technically they probably could do. If I ever had to use it, it would probably involve my business, but since it’s my own business and I own all the computers I wouldn’t probably lose sleep over using the home product.

Sieghard,

The only real difference between the versions of Lazesoft's products is related to what they're licensed for use for.  The free version is only for home users, but the parts it includes perform the same functions as the Professional version.

To me, it's a matter of whether you are using it for personal purposes or as part of doing work for others (and even then, if those others are private individuals, I'd download the free home version for their use).

The only difference between Windows 10 Home and Pro is that Pro has more features activated.  The features that the two share are using exactly the same code.  In fact, Windows 10 Home installations have all the components for Pro already installed and present, but they are not activated based on the license key being for Home.  That's why you can use the Settings, Update & Security, Activation Pane, Change product key link to enter a Pro key and then Windows 10 does the "under the hood voodoo" to activate all of the currently inactive features without reinstalling anything.

Hi Brian,

Do you have any thoughts on what version would be best? Will the home version of lazesoft work with Windows 10 Professional?

I cannot speak to accessibility, as I've never used the product, let alone with a screen reader, but I know many techs who use Lazesoft's Recover My Password Utility, which is free, to reset passwords for local accounts.  This only works for a local account under Windows 10 (or Windows 8.1), not a Microsoft Account linked Windows 10 user account.  In the case of the latter one should be able to go through the Forgot Password process on the Microsoft site for the Microsoft Account to which the Win10 user account is linked.  Once completed, provided you have internet access when you next attempt to log in to Win10 using that linked user account, it should accept the changed password.

Jim:

Below is the path to set the Chrome settings to save passwords and user names.  Once you set your settings to this.  Go to the site.  Log in and then hit F6 to find the save password button.

Let us know if you have any problems.

Hi all, how do I fix this? I am using jaws 2020, and windows ten? I have to put in my pass word every time, as well as my email address every time I go to the site. When I used IE, I didn’t have to do that. So I need a fix please. Thanks, Jim
