Hi.  Open the folder where you installed the executable to install Jaws.   Press the enter key.  Follow the prompts as if you were going to install Jaws.  Since Jaws is already installed on your computer, you will be presented with a dialog to run a Jaws repair.  Run the repair and follow the prompts.  I hope I helped you out.

Subject: Resources list

HI all,

We discussed a resources list last month, I've been working on a site for a
client recently and have added this page to their site. It can be found at:
https://rogercusson.com/resources/. I'm still updating the list, so as many
URL's as I've been able to find as of now are loaded.
I've also removed the categories listing as I didn't find it necessary.
I will be reorganizing the list to have all apps "included with windows"
in the same section, most likely at the bottom of the list as they won't
have URL's. I look forward to updating this list as more resources are
approved by the group.

If I missed anything, or anyone wants to add to the other lists on the page,
please do let me know, I'll gladly update!

Thanks,

Sarah

Problem is now solved.

A friend suggested to go into quick settings of the browser, go to tables and check if cell co-ordinates was turned on.  Somehow the recent update had turned the setting off and turning it on solved the problem.

Hi George,

I need the row number to be spoken by Jaws when arrowing slowly up the table column. If arrowing up at a normal speed then Jaws skips the row announcement and just reads the cell contents which is the desired result.

Currently, using the Jaws 2020 version released in the past week, Jaws does not announce any row number regardless of the arrowing speed. The row announcement was  spoken under the final 2019 version as well as the 2020 version released in late October.  I made the settings in the just released version the same as the settings in the 2019 version but this had no effect. That is, after making sure the settings relating to “default application” and saved with shift control d.

After trying numerous settings, I have come to the conclusion that a bug has crept into the latest 2020 Jaws update.

I’ll contact F S and make a report early in the new year.

Cheers

Tom

I have tried all of the steps on numerous occasions but still cannot get Jaws to read the row position in a table while using the latest version released only a few days ago.

However, if I change to the final copy of Jaws 19 then the row number is spoken as normal.  It appears to me that something has been broken in the latest 2020 version.

Basically, suppose you have JAWS 13,15 and 2019 installed.  If you uninstall 13 and then 15 keeping 2019 and uninstall the user settings, when you then go to use an Office application (e.g., Word, Outlook) the virtual ribbons do not speak as expected.  This happened to me.  After discussing the problem with technical support, they told me that uninstalling the user settings kills the ribbon functionality requiring a repair of JAWS 2019.  Doing that fixed the problem.  I uninstalled those early versions of JAWS in preparation for installing JAWS 2020 in the near future thereby having only 2019 and 2020 on my computer.

Further to the below, also retain “user settings.”  Else, you will lose MS Office ribbon functionality; which I learned the hard way.

Yes, there have been several discussions on MacVisionaries a googlegroups list on using VMWare Fusion on the Macintosh with JAWS and/or NVDA. Though obviously you will have better luck with JAWS / Windows applications on this list. The archives for MacVisionaries is publically visible, and I would expect you can get all the information you need without subscribing.
I personally have three Windows VM's on my Mac so I can easily switch between different versions while testing. VMWare does have the ability to mount parts of the Macintosh disk into the z:\ drive on Windows, so do not configure cloud storage on your Windows side as discussed earlier.

Subject: Resources list

HI all,

We discussed a resources list last month, I've been working on a site for a client recently and have added this page to their site. It can be found at: https://rogercusson.com/resources/. I'm still updating the list, so as many URL's as I've been able to find as of now are loaded.
I've also removed the categories listing as I didn't find it necessary.
I will be reorganizing the list to have all apps "included with windows"
in the same section, most likely at the bottom of the list as they won't have URL's. I look forward to updating this list as more resources are approved by the group.

If I missed anything, or anyone wants to add to the other lists on the page, please do let me know, I'll gladly update!

Thanks,

Sarah

Dear Sarah
Thanks for taking this initiative.
I have been quietly adding programs to the list based on people's suggestions and the list is now quite expanded, especially in the utilities category. I was going to post this expanded list to the list anyway in a few days but you have prompted me to post it earlier.
As a start I have included some but definitely not all download links in the below list already.
Many of the free and trial programs are available from the excellent Screenreader Accessible Page at https://ninite.com/accessible Where this is the case I have included the nimite link for convenience. Other download links are also included if known at the time of writing.
So this is the complete expanded latest list as of today. I anticipate that it will expand more.
