Sorry, you are right.

Here is what the Microsoft site says:

On a keyboard, press the Windows logo key + Enter.

This will both start and stop narrator.

The control key was added in Windows 10.

Bill,

Thank you for the info.  Narrator came on but it didn’t help.  When I pressed tab, narrator would say tab and when I pressed up or down arrow it would say up arrow or down arrow.  Jaws won’t speak on that computer and I thought narrator might help me figure out why.  That computer has Windows 7 and Jaws 16.  I guess I’ll have to wait until I have sighted help available to tell me what’s on the screen and get Jaws speaking.

Hello Laura:

If you are not at the Windows 7 Desktop, Press WINDOWS KEY+M, to minimize all open program windows and give focus to the Desktop.

Once the Desk Top has focus, press ALT+TAB, until the Narrator window is announced.

Release the ALT Key, which will give the Narrator window focus.

Tap the TAB key, until Narrator announces the Exit button. Press ENTER, to activate the button. By default, The focus is on the "Yes" Button. Press ENTER, to activate the button. Narrator is then unloaded.

Go to http://www.reaperaccess.com and read the front-page wikis on what you need and how to install it. It works better with NVDA than JAWS, so that's the first thing you'll want to do is to get friendly with NVDA.

I am using windows 10 and jaws versions up through 2020.

I think it would be easier to press Windows+r, type narrator and press
the enter key. to get rid of Narrator, just press the exit button in the
Narrator window, and then press space bar on the yes button..

in addition to the above, pressing Windows+u and then alt+n started
Narrator, but exiting Narrator still required alt+tabbing to the
Narrator window and pressing space bar on the exit button. and then
pressing space bar on the yes button.

pressing Windows+enter applied to the earlier versions of Windows 10,
and eventually was changed to control+Windows+enter in later versions of
Windows 10 as to expand and improve Narrator's capabilities.

Control+Windows-key+Enter.

That is the toggle for Narrator, whether you start it from the edit box
or if you start and stop it with that keystroke.

try pressing alt+shift+apostrophe. this works in Excel 2010 and
presumably 2013, 2016 and 2019. but not sure if the keystroke works in
Excel 365.

Sorry, you are right.

Here is what the Microsoft site says:

On a keyboard, press the Windows logo key + Enter.

This will both start and stop narrator.

The control key was added in Windows 10.
