hi Richard, I am just clarifying that you are not looking for something called amazing slow downeroften shortened to amazing.
I have used this particular program, and could provide some insights. First, though, I guess I need to know if this is the program you’re looking for. I’m not familiar with the other one you mentioned in your subject line and message.

The following solution might solve your problem.

JAWS & Excel - solution for reading cell contents with F2:

Problem - When editing cells in Excel, JAWS will not read the cell contents. JAWS will either stay silent or say “blank”.

Solution - This problem can be solved by unchecking the “Edit directly in cells” option in Excel options. The procedure to do this is given below.

1. In Excel, press Alt+F to go to the File menu.

2. Move with the arrow keys to Options or press the T key to move directly to Options. Press enter to open the Options dialog box.

3. Your focus will be placed in the listbox containing the various categories of options available under Excel. Use the down arrow key to move to the “Advanced” category.

4. Press tab to move through the various Excel options available under the Advanced category. When you land on the “Edit directly in cells” checkbox, confirm that the checkbox is unchecked. If it is checked, press spacebar to uncheck it.

5. Use tab or shift+tab to move to the OK button & press enter. Note that the Advanced category contains several options & you will have to press tab several times to reach the OK button.

NOTE - Turning the “Edit directly in cells” setting off does change things slightly for sighted users. When editing directly in cells is enabled, when F2 is pressed, the cursor appears in the cell itself. Text which would flow out of the cell flows to the right & then to the lines below. The cells covered by the overflowing text are hidden & the text in the cell is coloured to highlight cell references & brackets.

When editing directly in cells is disabled, when F2 is pressed, the cursor appears in the formula bar above the worksheet. Colouring of formula elements like cell references is also done in the formula bar instead of in the cell itself. Only the text which fits in the cell is visible while the cell contents are being edited.

Friends I have a problem whenever I am trying to to edit any sale in the Excel by pressing f2 ki sajav access with speech screen reader is saying just blank blind I am trying to to navigate between characters by pressing right and left arrow after pressing f2 on on any particular cell of Excel but job access with speech is not speaking the letters and characters which are in that particular cell which I want to edit that means I am not able to edit any sale in the Excel with job access with speech screen reader.
That is the problem I am facing with jaws.
Neither jaws nor nvda working while editing any particular cell of Microsoft Excel so I am not able to edit any particular sales data.
Please give me the answer you guys are my last ho thank you

Hi

With Jaws you can enforce the output channel by opening the Utility menu, then Sound card sub-menu. When your headphone is plugged in, you may find it inthere. Select it and you may hear Jaws back through headphone.

My guess is that it’s probably a hardware issue but has anyone ever experienced this with a screen reader and if so what was your solution?

Chris I see what you’re saying but I don’t have my screen set to turn off for 15 minutes on battery and even longer on power. This will happen in the middle of me typing a document or doing a web search. In other words it happens while I am active.

While some have posted links to the keyboard shortcut files I can only make one other suggestion and that is to at least somewhat familiarize yourself with the ribbon menu.
Changing the margins, for example, is not so difficult to find in the "Layout" menu where it happens to be the first option once you down arrow.

Jaws also announces the key sequence required to get there again, for example if I go to layout and margins, Jaws says Alt followed by P, M

I'm interested in learning these commands so that I can use Microsoft word affectively. One of the first things that i'd like to be able to do is to set all margins at 1 inch. I remember being able to do that in other versions of Microsoft word but i'm not sure how to do this with this new version of Microsoft word that I have. Thank you for any information that you might have concerning these questions.

Go to power management and change your settings to high-performance. You'll probably have to check the Seymour power management plans and then select high-performance from there.

insert + #1 seems to toggle between something called "keyboard help on/off" but is silent when it's on followed by Cntrl + p sequence.

First thing to do is hit insert-1 in jaws to turn on the key describer
and hit ctrl-p. It should say something like play or pause fs reader
track. If it doesn't, then something is not right with your keyboard.

Hi,
I use Windows 7, but I'm sure there is a similar way to do this in Windows 10.
But when you plug something in, you should get a dialog that says what did you just plug in, and you get to select whether it is headphones, speakers or a microphone.
Usually there is a checkbox that you can check to not ask this in the future.
I think you need to change that back to the default, so you get that dialog when you plug it in.
It's a windows action that you need to change to the default action, which is to ask you when you plug it in.
Or if you did not check that box, maybe that dialog is there, and you need to alt + tab to it when you plug something in.
I don't know which item it lands on in Windows 10, when that dialog pops up, but if you know how many arrows to your desired option, you may be able to do that too, but you should have speech for this.

First thing to do is see if there is a driver update for the sound chip.  If there is not, then you're probably just out of luck.  I suppose it could be the sound system itself failing, but good luck getting the manufacturer to admit it.

Hi Les,

It has been awhile since I worked with Acrobat ⠠⠏⠗⠕⠂ but this situation worries me. If you have a form that has been created as a PDF file in Pro, chances are you can fill it out--unless the person who created the form didn't have a clue as to what they were ⠙⠕⠬ with accessibility. However, since the form originally was an image and has to be scanned, I doubt the result will be fillable. The person could try saving it as a word document, but the form will probably lose all formatting, and it might not look pretty!

I would like to be wrong about this but ...

Good luck!
