Re: Where in the world are you?

Gerald,

I want to know why JAWS does not work well with Outlook on Windows 7.

FS does not provide an explanation as far as I can tell, so there is a tendency to wonder why organizations are dysfunctional. There are observed patterns in the tech industry and society that provide explanations of the dysfunction.

What is the other JAWS email list?

Some people like being ruled by control freaks, some like anarchy.

Most control freaks have hidden agendas.

Anarchy usually develops into a high quality experience if the group sees value in open discussion. When a list provides a quality experience people will usually self-regulate behavior that is not seen as conducive to the group's higher purposes.

Human beings survived in an evolutionary sense because of social bonding. Social bonding is what makes humans human. It is the basis of intelligence (collective learning is more adaptive than individual learning).

That's it! Enough is enough already! I've had it! So now this has become
a social chat room instead of a forum for discussing issues related to JAWS.
Where are the list moderators? It is absolutely mind-boggling that this
list has become a forum for discussing everything but JAWS including such
off-topic issues as guide dogs, economics and God knows what else. This
nonsense is certainly not tolerated on the other JAWS list, so why is it
allowed on this one?

Gerald

Angel,

The reality is that Utilities are not free to charge what they like.
The Government Regulates them. Whether you think that regulation
particularly effective is another question but the fact that it exists
shows that sighted people do exactly what you are saying they do not
do, they prevent such companies from charging above a certain rate.
They do this because such utilities are essential services.

As for your other points, I think you'll find it's called "the welfare
state", something many people in the US seem particularly
uncomfortable with.

If you really think it's ok to leave people to starve in the streets
and die in the ditches, then I guess you can go without a welfare net
of any kind, otherwise one of some sort is necessary and the question
becomes one of degree.

Re: Crack For Jaws 64 Bit Win 7

Angel

If one receives from his rehabilitation agency Jaws which was paid for by that rehabilitation agency. Then saves 10 dollars a month to pay for the succeeding upgrades he can afford to maintain the product. It is similar to the open book product. My Nigerian blind friend marveled at how much money so-called "poor" blind people he knew in America wasted on frivolities. While complaining about the lack of affordability of certain specialized products. Now, he came from a country wherein as a child his father couldn't afford to purchase shoes. Another blind Nigerian friend just yesterday told me the incentive for him to get an education and eventually to obtain his doctorate was that well educated people whom he knew as a child did have things such as shoes. Understanding this, how can we complain about the expense of a product when, should we not be able to afford it can get demonstration copies which would serve till we could afford to purchase the product outright. Or alternatively, we could get NVDA till we were able to save the money to purchase the product we desired.

I understand and also encourage people not to see blind and disabled
people as charity cases but currently the few who's starting to
understand rather see's blind and disabled people as people wanting to
live as normal as possible lives but who's being ripped off by
companies just because they can't do without assistive devices. As I
previously mentioned, in our country you can buy the stuff and then a
year later clame it back from the government as part of your income
tax. What we're currently fighting for is for the government just to
buy the people the stuff in the first place because even though you
can get the money back in a years time, most people still don't have
the type of money to buy something as expensive as jaws, and no bank
will borrow you money for a year without paying it back with some
interest. But as someone else also mentioned the probblem is those few
people who takes advantage of the situation and who will apply for
more products than they need and then sell the products or something
to make themselves some money.

Just for your information, I'm part of a non profit organisation
raising awareness and trying to raise money for less fortunate people
to get assistive devices like jaws because as I said I know there's a
lot of less fortunate people who won't even be able to aford a

The Seeing gets its financial from private donations. If you want the
same from FS, go out and find private individuals to donate to them.
I am sick of all this whining. This is what makes nonblind persons
feel sorry for us.
And
also, this kind of attitude is what makes it more difficult for some
blind persons get employment. Get off your butt, stop whining, and do
something constructive for yourself.

So if a company can get sponsership or whatever to ask $150 for a
guide dog why can't another company get sponserships or government
support to make jaws a lot cheeper and afordable for a lot more
people around the world? I live in South Africa which is assentially
a 3rd world country compared to America and England. I can aford a
computer, software, a braille machine and jaws but so many others in
this country can't. As I'm sitting here I know for a fact that more
than half of people who whent to school with me, won't be able to
aford their own computer not even mentioning jaws, my question is,
what happens to those people, what oppertunities do they have in the
main streem world and all this just because companies rip off blind
people because they know, the blind people need their products to
funktion.

Karen,

That depends upon which guide dog school you attend. All my dogs
have been

from th Seeing Eye where you pay $150 for your first dog and $50
for all replacements. This is the same price structure they have
used since their inception in 1929. The Lions have nothing to do
with this school.
When
you leave the school, noone, including the Seeing Eye., can tell
you what to do with your doog which if I am correct, is not the
case with some of the other schools. You and you alone own your
dog.

And yes, it costs thousands of dollars for them to train your animal.
The
above costs above cover all your expenses, including
transportation from anywhere in the U.S. ... and I can tell you,
this school treats you fabulously and with a great deal of
respect.

Sandy... whose 3rd dog, Dory, sadly died this past Christmas Eve.

i was told the dog school charges one dollar for the dog, but it
cost them thirty five thousand dollars to train a dog and the
lions club pay for this because they sponsor the blind. karen

No, Nickus, the guide dog schools give the dogs totally free to
the final users.
But they spent a lot of money since the dog is a puppy to the
final training stage.

I don't agree with piracy but agree that jaws and most other
assistive devices are crazally expensive. If you really can't
aford jaws then use NVDA, it's totally free and feeture wise
it's rite up there with jaws, in fact there's some semi
accessible software which I can access better with NVDA than
with jaws. Something else somebody mentioned, does it really
cost $3800 to get a guide dog in the US? If I understand rite,
that's crazy. In South africa we pay about the equivalent of $15
or $20 but then again for stuff like jaws we pay about
equivalent of $1500. We don't easally get government bersaries
for assistive devices but can claim assistive devices back from
the government through income tax but you must still have the
cash to fork out and then wait a year or more before you can
claim it back.

This is like saying that because some people get paid
government benefits, tax cheating is a legitimate means of
making things equal. I'm surprised anyone on this list would
justify theft.

I'm sorry to extend an off-topic thread, but I can't let this
kind of thinking go unchallenged.

Are you suggesting that some of us paid less than the full
price of
$1000
for JAWS? The only way this would be possible without buying a
cracked

or
illegal copy would be to have it purchased for us by a rehab
agency.
