I know there is the old argument about the affordability of Jaws, but I never really understood how once somebody had Jaws initially they could not afford the $5 a month which an SMA effectively costs. I think the problem is that people have to pay $120 every 2 years and it is more of a budgeting issue, they probably wouldn't have any issue with $5/month, but can't come up with $120 as a lumpsum because they don't budget. In any case, just as Windows 10 nowadays gets 2 major updates a year and older versions go out of support relatively quickly, I think it is absolutely important that if you are a Jaws user to also use the most current version of Jaws if you want the best experience.

Yes, once you know the installer has started wait a couple of minutes and then press Control + Windows + Enter and Narrator will start up and just as on an iPhone where you can bring up Voiceover to complete the setup, you can then install and setup Windows to the point where you can install your third-party screenreader of choice. I have done it many times and it works great.

Sorry I can't help with the first but I can tell you that 2018 did have a lot of trouble with losing focus. A JAWS re boot at times fixed the problem for a time. Tabbing away and coming back is annoying but works. So far the issue is much less, if at all, in 2019. Yes, Freedom was aware of the issue. Dan

You may not like this, but keep in mind that Jaws 2018 is 2 years old, I guess a bit less if you count updates for Jaws 2018 throughout that year, but as Windows moves on (version 1809, 1903 and soon 1909 are all versions which came after Jaws 2018 support ended) you may find more and more issues. Especially in Jaws 2020 people will probably see some pretty drastic improvements with respect to how Jaws access information with the new GDI or deep level hooking, I think currently the old accessibility display driver is still on by default, but I assume this may change very soon. I'm not sure which version of Outlook you're using. I'm using Office 365 and use the Windows Application Menu.
1. Focus on a message in the message list 2. Open the Windows Application Menu (WINDOWS APPLICATION KEY or SHIFT-F10) 3. Press ENTER on Follow-up 4. Within he Follow-up menu, press ENTER on "No Date" After setting the Follow-up, set your email arrangement to "Flag Status." This puts your flagged messages at the top and your other messages sorted by date at the bottom. Messages with "No Date" follow-ups are always at the top. To arrange messages by Flag Status: 1. Open the View Ribbon (ALT-V) 2. Activate the "Arrange By" (AB) 3. Re: Windows 10 "Sign-in" versus Windows 7 "Logon" Screens
Hi, They are essentially the same thing – differences in terminology. In case one creates multiple user accounts in Windows 10, users will see a list of users to choose from and asked for credentials in any number of ways – passwords, pin, picture password, fingerprint, iris scan and so on. Cheers, Joseph

Sent: Friday, September 20, 2019 9:18 AM To: jfw@groups.io Subject: Windows 10 "Sign-in" versus Windows 7 "Logon" Screens
Hi!
I am new to Windows 10. I am using it under JAWS 2019. In Windows 7, there was a “logon” screen that listed the various user accounts. In Windows 10, there seems to be a “sign-in” screen. Right now, there is just one user for this sign-in screen - me. So, what is the difference between the “sign-in” versus the “logon” screens? What happens in Windows 10 when I add a couple of additional user accounts? How does this “sign-in” screen change? With JAWS, what is the best way to setup Windows 10 to handle logging-in? For example, can (or should) I disable the “sign-in” screen and instead use a “logon” screen?
Thanks, Richard
