I have experienced this phenomenon in law school with some websites; The thing seems to be that the websites were designed in such a way that they do not expect nor allow keyboard input, They are only looking for mouse clicks I know this because I had sighted person use keyboard with no jaws on it, and still no dice with keyboard interaction; But yet the mouse worked just fine. Please advise as you like. Mike M. Mike mcglashon Email: Michael.mcglashon@comcast.net Ph: 618 783 9331

Re: Question about JAWS find.
Dean Martineau <topdot@...>
Unless you have changed things in the Quick Key Manager, L takes you to the next list, not link. U takes you to the next unvisited link, and you can edit the list in the Quick Key Manager to allow for a keystroke to activate Any Link, which is not active by default. All that is discussed in Windows Keyboard Power User Guide available from https://www.techforblind.us. When forms mode is active, those letters are written into the form, they cannot serve as navigation quick keys then.

Hi, everybody.
Does anybody know if JAWS is in forms mode when the JAWS find feature is used?
JAWS sort of stumbles over edit boxes and other controls when the Tab key is the links hot key, so I tried using the l and shift+l keys for move to next and prior links, with weird results. Rather than allowing the l key to be used to type the l character, JAWS focus jumped out of the search edit box to who knows where, because nothing in the find dialog uses the l as a shortcut. Odder still is that when the l key default was in place, there was no problem.
I'd appreciate any insights. Still trying to figure out what's under the hood, so to speak. Lou N.

Try this one...

Place your PC cursor on the link. Then use the move JAWS cursor to PC cursor key stroke. JAWS key lower left corner of num pad and upper right corner of num pad. Then hit the num pad / key as a left mouse click. See if that works. Re: Using calculator
Barbara <batterseye@...>
Hi
I am assuming you are referring to the Windows calculator. If not, disregard my message.
Once the calculator is open and you want to enter your numbers, I usually use the numbers above the letters, but I would assume you could use the num pad. Anyhow the Plus is the plus on the top row. The minus is the dash on the top row. Multiply is the * above the 8 and divide is the forward slash at the bottom row. Delete clears the field. Enter acts as the equals. You can perform with multiple numbers like 1 + 3+8 etc. anytime you want to know what is the field information use the JAWS read current line hot key.
This works for both Windows 7 and 10.
I have never tried to go in more depth than this, so there could be more.
Hope this helps.

Re: Problems with Outlook 365
Cohn, Jonathan
A lot of my Outlook hangs got resolved in the build that came out a few weeks ago. Also, I have heard some chatter about versions of Office from a few months back havig issues that are resolved in the newer versions. If you are not on the "monthly" channel of Office updates, you might want to consider being on it. In either case, FS Support should be able to quickly verify if they know of issues with either your JAWS or Office versions.your version number is something like 2019.190

Re: Odd Issue: Characters In a Document Not Consistently Speaking When Navigating in Word 365
David Goldfield <david.goldfield@...>
Hello. I finally called FS technical support about this issue. I was told that Microsoft was aware of the problem with character or word navigation failing to work reliably and it was they who were working on the fix. This seems to confirm my suspicion that the problems I and others were noticing may have been caused by an update to Office 365. This morning I noticed that updates to Office were available. I downloaded and installed the updates and, so far, the issue seems to have been fixed but I will continue to monitor it to see if it really has been fixed. To check for updates, open an Office application such as Word and do the following.
1. Press Alt+F for the file menu or, as it's officially called, the backstage view. 2. Press D for the Account tab. 3. Press R for Updates. 4. Press U to check for updates.
