Could someone out there please have a look at this website and give me your thoughts?

The ETS(Edmonton Transit System) has 2 web-based trip planning applications:
A "main" version and a "mobile" version.
I especially like the mobile version of this web application because it's just html-based -- no clutter & no fuss.
But, there's a problem
Maybe the best way to describe it is to walk you through it:

Let's suppose I want to go from my house to the airport.
I would point my browser to the "mobile" Trip Planner webpage:
http://m.etstripplanner.edmonton.ca/planyourtrip.aspx
The first thing it assks for is: Select trip start location
There's a combo bbox of 4 "Start location types" you can choose from.
Pick "Landmark".
In the associated Edit field, type in: lewis.
You should see a list of possible landmarks that contain the word: Lewis
From this list, pick "Lewis Farms Transit Station" and press "Enter".
The edit field should now contain this text.

Next, you have to Select the trip end location
Again, from the combo box list of available End location types, pick "Landmark"
In the associated edit field, type: airport
You will be shown a list of 8 possibilityes containing the word: airport
From this list, pick: Edmonton International Airport -- It's the fourth in this list.
Fill in the rest of the stuff on this page: just pick "reasonable" values.
Once everything is specified, go to the "Get Trip Plan" button and press Enter.

And now, this is where the problem happens:
The "Trip Suggestions" returned to me are not visible to Jaws.
A sighted viewer can pick them up, but Jaws does not.

Could someone out there please have a look at this,
offer an explanation as to what causes this,
and suggest a work-around fix?
I would REALLY appreciate it!
PS: The browser I use is Firefox.
In order to see if another browser might work better on this site,
I tried it with the MS Edge browser -- same thing.
So I think the issue is a Jaws issue.

Yeah… It just came off as a small and petty. Anyway… I think I’m going to
hold off on joining. Who knows how many refugees from the old list will even
hear about the new one. I’m guessing at first anyway, the majority of folks
who join will be the same people on this blindtech and the other JFW list.
Seriously… To just blow it up like that without even a heads up. There were
probably a lot of folks on that list who need more help than others to find
their way. Just to cast them out like that… Messed up. I believe that David
guy is also a member of one or two other lists I belong too. Who knows if he’ll
interact with them or if it was an entire withdrawal type of deal.

However, it appears that someone promptly created a group here
on Groups.io that is the stub of a replacement. I am mentioning this only
because of this topic, which I believe is legitimate to discuss here: Jaws
Help Website

If there's a way to get at the help content historically
available, regardless of where it is, that's worth sharing in my opinion,
even on a "competing list" like this one. And I really don't consider the
lists in competition in any meaningful sense.

I'd love to see "blind technology" traffic become less
fragmented, not more, though there is definite room for separate lists for
things like JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, etc. I still, for myself, would prefer a
grand, unified "screen reader and blind technology" group myself, as there
is a lot of information on each of these that are completely applicable or
easily translatable to the others. But history often dictates structure,
and it sure does at the moment.

With list management software like Groups.io has, each user
can easily tailor their own experience even on high-traffic groups if they
wish to do so.

Apology accepted.  I was shocked because "this is not you," that's for sure.

There's a reason that I included a rule elsewhere (that shall remain nameless) that reads, "Use threaded or conversation view in your e-mail client program or webmail and read through the entirety of a topic before replying.  It gets you completely up to speed and avoids a lot of repetition.  If you choose not to use threaded/conversation view, please take the time to read through all messages from the group that are in your inbox prior to adding any reply to the group.  It’s the only way you can be sure you’re up to speed on any topic when not using threaded/conversation view."

That used to be basic netiquette, specifically for e-mailing lists, that went without saying.   Alas, it doesn't anymore.

Hi all,

By default, if you set the keyboard layout to desktop, you should be able to use the insert key. However, in desktop layout my PC still only allows me to use the capslock key as the Jaws key. I know you can manually change the Jaws key but can’t remember how to do it. Can anyone please remind me?

Kind regards

Sorry. All I needed to know. I was browsing subjects, not content, which is my own fault.  I took ‘the list’ to mean this list and a question about subscribing, unsubscribing, etc, which happens quite often despite a footer at the bottom of every message pertaining to exactly that, so I ignored it.

Regardless I’ll be remaining here. No need for even more fragmentation.

Tyler,

You know that I like you, and we've had plenty of private exchanges by e-mail, but for the love of heaven please review the messages from this very list from the last few days!!

This list, the JAWS for Windows Users Support List, is neither being migrated or going anywhere.   This is all the detritus of a competing group having been blown up by its owner, without warning, and the aftermath of same.

Information, complete information, regarding the replacement list that sprung up, that I truly think should not have, has been supplied already for anyone who wishes to join "the replacement group."

There is absolutely no need, let alone a pressing one, for a different JAWS Users Group for English speaking JAWS users on Groups.io.   This one is of longstanding, very active, and very welcoming.   It's more than sufficient, and it avoids fragmentation.

I honestly cannot believe that this question is being asked here.   You already know how to join a Groups.io group, send an e-mail message to their subscribe address.

The direct link to the new Jfw-Users group, jfw-users, has been posted, by me, already and also directions about how to search for any group you might want.  That group's addresses, like those of any Groups.io group, can be found immediately after the phrase "Group Email Addresses" on the home page.

If you are a member of any Groups.io group, you had ought to know how to do this already, but those are pretty much step-by-step instructions specific to that group above.  Doing searches is not rocket science and should be a basic skill.

To be perfectly blunt, the guy who started the competing JFW-Users list seems to have a compulsion for creating new lists. He has created dozens of lists which have started with a lot of activity only to eventually fizzle out.  I agree that one list devoted to JAWS is plenty sufficient, but this guy has a huge ego, and thinks his JFW-Users list will somehow be better.  Right now, it is little more than a shout out group with new members introducing themselves.  When I created my own Blind Hearing Aid Users email list last year, I put a quick end to this nonsense before it could get out of hand.

Nothing.   If I had my way it would simply become the single list on Groups.io for English-speaking users to seek assistance and information.   The amount of fragmentation in the blind technology arena is already too significant, in my opinion.

I will note that I was simply trying to answer the question as posed.   I would hope that "the refugees from the now defunct JAWS Users list" would find a home here rather than trying to re-create it, which will probably be a futile exercise if history is any indicator (and that's not a personal swipe at those who created it, but is based on what I've observed in situations such as this before).    Finding a new home among folks who already have a long established group covering the same territory simply makes the most sense.  And, without exception, I've found those groups that are "the surviving one(s)" welcome those displaced.

There's a part of me hoping that these very topics get closed, and closed very soon.
