Re: indeed.com inability to use website
Hi,
Chrome with a clean reset did not work. Repair of Jaws 2019 also did not work. To install an earlier version, I looked on freedomscientific.com for an older version with no luck. I'll have to wait until I have sighted assistance to find where my older jaws versions are. I'll let you know with older version... Thanks for the ideas...

Try to access a non-US version of indeed (indeed.co.uk for example) with the older jaws and the reset chrome. This will tell you where the problem lies. If the PC and Jaws cursors fail this is the new cursor to try and keep up
with the current tech.
The Touch cursor is activated by pressing shift and the plus key on the
numpad at the same time. This cursor is required more and more. Now use the left and right arrow keys to navigate like swiping left and right on a IPhone. use space bar or enter to activate items. On 7/22/2019 1:06 PM, Rick Mladek wrote:

Re: Leaving a review on Home Advisor
When I started using the app or year and a half ago, all I had to do was review three contractors. After that I would have gotten a $50 gift card. I was not able to do more than one review and I had to do that with cited assistance. Guess I never will get my $50. I’ve decided not to use HomeAdvisor anymore. There are other ways to find contractors to do work and on my home.

Hi DJ, well, this is disheartening but I appreciate you telling me of your experience. Although it probably won’t do any good, I’m going to contact them about their web site. Guess I’ll get a sighted person to help me get a review submitted. Thanks again, Norma From: main@jfw.groups.io [mailto:main@jfw.groups.io] On Behalf Of DJ Sent: Monday, July 22, 2019 8:01 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: Leaving a review on Home Advisor Don’t hold your breath. I’ve left multiple reviews in the App Store as well as contacted home advisor multiple times about this problem. They do not have a clue about accessibility, nor do they care. I’ve tried talking with them about the website using a computer with draws, as well as iOS. Every time they put a new update out on the App Store they boast about adding more pros, but absolutely nothing about adding accessibility support. They should be ashamed of themselves. Hi group,
If anyone has successfully completed the form on Home Advisor to review a pro, I'd love to know how you did it. I'm using latest Jaws on Win 10 with I.E., Firefox, Chrome and Brave. Using the touch cursor with Jaws and I.E. seemed ok, but I'm having difficulty moving around the form fields. Alternatively, if anyone has used the Android app to complete the review process, please let me know, as I can go that way, as well.
Thanks, Norma

Re: indeed.com inability to use website
Hi,
It matters because I have this issue with firefox also, and I don't with chrome. Try chrome, with a clean reset. If that doesn't work, try an older version of jaws. If you want, you could also try using indeed.co.uk, obviously it won't work for jobs in your town however these three steps will give you a good idea of whether it's the web browser, the screen reader or the website that is the problem.
1. Reset chrome to factory defaults, and try and use indeed.com. 2. Install an older version of jaws onto your computer, use the reset version of chrome and try to access indeed.com. 3.

No you can’t do that in Windows 10. There is no Send To Desktop option. You have to Open File Location, then Shift+F10 on the file, then Send To, then Desktop Create Shortcut. In Windows 7 you could do it, but not 10. All the best Steve

Re: Logitech G613 Lightspeed wireless mechanical gaming keyboard
I have my audio bluetooth transmitter on top of a wood cabinet and a keyboard receiver on about 35 feet of USB cable to work in another room of the house. It makes a real difference to get away from the computer case and my metal desk. I’ve been using the G613 for a couple of days and remember why I have been wanting a mechanical keyboard since I lost my last one in a house fire thirty years ago. Except for the extra keys on the left, I am typing faster and really like it. One of the two keyboards I ordered was damaged in shipment and Amazon has already replaced it. With a credit I had from a previous Amazon order problem and by signing up for the Amazon Visa card, the two keyboards cost me $6 each. I’ll probably have to wait another 25 years for Amazon to give me another deal like that. Tony

I looked on the Logitech site for documentation and, after a dowzen links, was told there was no information. Any suggestions appreciated. Tony Hi, I thought it would be OK to post a brief review here on the Logitech G613 wireless mechanical gaming keyboard since just as myself I assume others also are always looking for the “perfect” keyboard. This Logitech G613 “Lightspeed” wireless mechanical gaming keyboard can connect to iOS via Bluetooth and to a PC using the supplied USB receiver which then let’s you take advantage of the “Lightspeed” 1 millisecond delay which is pretty impressive (if you connect to a PC with Bluetooth this does not apply and while it’s probably still just as good as any other Bluetooth keyboard, it sort of makes sense to make the most of this keyboard’s features). I still use my trusty Logitech K780 at home where I have it connected to my laptop via Bluetooth as well as to my iPhone and Apple TV, but I bought the G613 for my main PC at work and I must say so far it’s getting pretty close to that perfect score. Unlike most wired mechanical gaming keyboards this does not have all the fancy RGB lighting options which of course is fine for me. The one thing I am not super fond of are the 6 F1 through fF6 function keys in a vertical column down the left side of the keyboard with maybe half an inch of space between them and the left most keys like Control, Shift, Caps Lock, Tab, ` and Escape. But I also bought a wired Logitech mechanical keyboard and it also has them, most mechanical keyboards are designed for gamers rather than people who want a mechanical keyboard for typing. It takes a bit of getting used to not accidently pressing them. gamers can configure these keys as macro keys to perform whatever actions gamers want. Apart from that the keyboard has a very traditional layout with nice spaces between the blocks of function keys, the inverted cursor T, the 6-pack with Insert/Delete, Page Up/Down and Home/End, of course the number pad and above that it has 4 more slightly lower media keys for Play/Pause, Stop, Rewind and Forward. At the very top is a slider switch which locks the Windows key which apparently gamers like so they don’t accidently press it and Cortana/the search box pops up, then there are two buttons which switch between the USB Lightspeed connection and the Bluetooth connection and once the Bluetooth connection to the iPhone has been established all it takes is to press the Bluetooth button in order to switch to the phone and the USB button to switch back. On the very top right is a large key which is a volume rocker, press the left side for down and the right side for up and beside that is a Mute button. Finally on the right side towards the back is a on/off slider switch. The keyboard runs on 2 AA batteries and is supposed to give you 18 month of battery life. There is a proper application key on the right side of the spacebar which works, but there is no Windows key on the right side which is something you don’t hardly see any more. Logitech uses their own Romer-G switches and not Cherry MXswitches. The Romer-G are most like Cherry Brown, a nice distance of travel, but not hard to press and relatively quiet for mechanical keys. They do take a bit of getting used to, but I quite like them. For those who want to read more about them, below is a link to a review from Tom’s Hardware: Logitech’s Romer-G Switches – Are they any good? The other nice thing about this keyboard is it’s relatively reasonable price, I paid $129.99 Canadian for it, believe I read that on a good deal you can pick it up in the US for as low as $70 US. Wireless mechanical keyboards are not out there too much yet, I did find a couple more made by the company “Das Keyboard” but they are more expensive although I may order them from Amazon to test and if I don’t like them at least as much or better send them back. My other 2 computers at my store where I have a Logitech MK510 keyboard and mouse combo both start to show their wear on the keyboards and I want to see if using mechanical keyboards won’t change the fact that many of the keyboards which are mostly out there these days are typically done after 2 or at most 3 years of heavy use. As with all mechanical keyboards keep in mind that the Logitech G613 is heavy compared to other non-mechanical wireless keyboards. And one last thing which is nice, this keyboard has function keys which work as function keys out of the box and as much as I also like my K780, it’s a bit of a pain to have to install the not very accessible Logitech Options software just so you can change the function keys to behave like function keys instead of media keys. Happy typing, Sieghard

Re: indeed.com inability to use website
Have you tried turning off the virtual cursor and tapping through the fields?

Hi,
Once you hit to apply, I am no longer to navigate or enter within any of the edit fields. I only hear the heading of the page. Everything else within this website works fine, until I hit the button to apply.

I just went to this website and didn't seem to have any issues reading about the various jobs offered in my town, just for laughs I clicked to apply for liquor store manager and while I of course didn't proceed, I was able to fill out all the fields and so on. I know you probably explained what your issue was but this is a pretty big thread now, could you repeat once more what specifically doesn't seem to work for you? I am using Jaws 2019 and the latest public version of google Chrome.

Hi,
I went to the website, went to apply to any job and when the screen came up that cannot be used, I went to the touch cursor. How do I navigate to the fields to enter information and then to upload my resume etc.?? the arrow keys mentioned did nothing by hitting right or left arrow key...
Thanks,
Rick

If the PC and Jaws cursors fail this is the new cursor to try and keep up with the current tech.
The Touch cursor is activated by pressing shift and the plus key on the numpad at the same time. This cursor is required more and more. Now use the left and right arrow keys to navigate like swiping left and right on a IPhone. use space bar or enter to activate items. On 7/22/2019 1:06 PM, Rick Mladek wrote:

Any help surely appreciated.
Using Jaws 2019 latest update Windows 10 all up to date this happens on firefox, internet explorer and google crome...
This was not a problem the last time I was on this site, before the last update, July 2019, I believe last update...
I look forward to your help, ideas etc...

Re: what setting is needed to read links character by character
I think you would have to right click on the link and either copy it to the clipboard, or inspect (called various names in different browsers) and look at it that way. On Tue, 23 Jul 2019 06:19:25 -0400, Rick Mladek wrote: Hello again,

Hi,
I'm not sure why chrome would be a consideration since I normally use firefox and chrome has never been used upon/within this site. Please explain your reasoning just for my understanding please.

Hello,
I have attempted to replicate this issue, using the UK version of indeed, jaws 2018, windows 10 and all web browsers.
I found that indeed, indeed does not function correctly with IE, and I receive the same problem as you; however I did not get this issue with chrome. My version of chrome is reset regularly, as I use it to test various web filter applications for my vpn company (trying to break them and work out how to make my programme do that automatically.) Try resetting chrome and see if that works.
