Re: Jaws 2019 blocking desktop shortcut keystrokes

Another odd thing is using the bypass key, insert+3 doesn’t work either. It is like Jaws 2019 on Windows 10 home just simply blocks those desktop shortcut keys.

Greetings, I have done a clean install of both Jaws 2019, and Jaws 2018 on my Windows home 64 bit dell laptop.
If Jaws 2019 is running, the shortcut keystrokes I have set for my various programs do not work. IE, alt+shift+o for Outlook. But, if I unload Jaws 2019 and run Jaws 2018 and press alt+shift+o Outlook opens.
These are the latest versions of both Jaws editions.
I obviously like some of the features in Jaws 2019, but will be running Jaws 2018 for the most part unless I can resolve this bloody annoying issue.
Thanks for any thoughts, Richard

Hi Marvin,

There is a security setting in Adobe Reader that you need to disable. Go to Adobe preferences by pressing CTRL + K. In the list of preferences, look for "Security, (enhanced)". Tab to where it says "enable enhanced Security" and uncheck it. You can use first letter navigation in this list, so press "S" till you get to "Security (Enhanced). Try that and if it doesn't work, there is also a setting to "Enable protected mode at startup" in the Security (Enhanced) preference. Try unchecking this as well. I can't recall if both settings need to be unchecked , and I am on my Mac at the moment so can't check. Hope this helps Russell

Hi, Marvin. 1. Open Adobe Reader. 2. Press ALT plus K for Preferences. 3. Arrow down to Security (Enhanced, (not just Security) 4. TAB to Enable Protected Mode at startup, and make sure it is unchecked. 5. Answer “Yes” to the prompt which warns you that, Disabling Protected Mode requires you to restart Adobe Reader. 6. TAB to, Enable Enhanced Security, and make sure this is also unchecked. 7. TAB to the OK button, and press it. 8. Restart Adobe Reader.
Now you should be able to see the content of PDF files in Adobe Reader.

I thought I would try adobe acrobat reader dc, latest version. My adobe acrobat pro English is a few years old, version 5.5., but when I try to load a pdf, and then select that and load, it goes into like a web based or cloud, and jaws just sees it as blank. If I try to do a insert o, d for document, says ocr failed. So not sure why. Why is that, and not reading it that great and do have the google chrome extension. Maybe ray, can help. This is weird. Anyone had this issue with adobe acrobat reader dc, current free version and got it from the official adobe site. Marvin.

Hi,
Have you gone into Accessibility, and set preferences there? If you
haven’t, do so. It’s in the Edit menu of the latest Adobe Reader DC. There’s
also the Setup Accessibility Assistant.

JAWS has default hotkeys for unvisited and visited links, or you can tab from link to link; or you can define the Any Link hotkey so you can more easily go link to link whether it is visited or unvisited.

Good evening listers; has anyone used the digital assistant program called braina? I ask this because I downloaded this, installed it and could not fill out the create a profile form. Tried both jaws and NVDA with no success. If anyone has had luck with filling out this form, I would appreciate hearing about it. Running latest version of jaws and windows 1809. Thanks Marv
