Re: wordperfect with jaws 13, windos 7 and 64 nbit

Marijan Janev

Hi John,
I use only 32-bit OS-es, and cannot tell you for sure if WP13 works on a 64-bit OS, but strongly believe it's so.
Regarding the reading in the workspace, I have no that problem. I have the other problem - when I use Cyrilic alphabetsJaws always reads them as a euro sign when I use PC-cursor letter by letter, but when I move PC-cursor word by word it reads correctly. In the case of Latin alphabets, I have no any problem of that kind.
But my main problem is the fact that jaws doesn't read styles which persists very long time. I mainly work with styles because it's important for the my sighted collegues.

John Fioravanti said the following on 2.2.2012. 14:31:
Hi: Do you know why, in X3 I'm not able to read the characters with the right and left cursors, but am able to read a word at a time with control+right and left arrows?
Also, will word perfect 13 work with 64 bit? Thanks very much.
p.s. you're right about word perfect as being extremely professional. I have used it for years as an attorney and am horribly regretting switching to word, expecially because it lacks access to the reveal codes. Thanks again.

WordPerfect13 is the last one officially supported by jaws. If you wish to use X4 and X5 you have to use it without scripts. I don't understand suchbehaviour of FS despite of the fact that they support MS products excellently. In those days, if you stil remember, Novel's WordPerfect almost was the only one which offered really professional capabilities.

John Fioravanti said the following on 1.2.2012. 21:17:
Hi Is anyone using word perfect successfully with jaws 13, windows 7 ultimate and 64 bit? If so, which version are you using? Thank you very much.

Re: using jaws with a program called Ibm Spss

I don;'t believe there are any screen readers that will work better than
Jaws with SPSS. The best solution in my opinion is to ask the professor if
it is possible for you to work with a partner or in a group so the sighted
person can do the SPSS input.

Unfortunetly SPSS is not accessible with Jaws. I was faced with this
problem
the last two semesters with my data analysis and research methods classes.
There are two ways that I know of to get around this problem. There is no
way to make Jaws work with the program, but fortunetly in my course we did
all the computer work in groups. I worked with my sited partners so that I
got the core material, but they entered all the data into the SPSS
program.
You should talk with your professor and see if working in a group or with
a
partner is possible as an accommodation. Just make sure you have help
memorizing the main components of SPSS even though your not using it
directely as for possible questions on exams. Hope this helps, and feel

Hello everyone,

I'm currently enrolled in a statistics course in which a program called
IBM
SPSS is used. Unfortunately, I have not had much luck at all at getting
jaws

know
if there's anything I can do to make jaws read the menus, or perhaps
you've

Re: wordperfect with jaws 13, windos 7 and 64 nbit

John Fioravanti <fioresq1@...>

Chris,

May be a problem with the list, but it's confined to messages you are
sending out. Hopefully JDH can help.

I just tried a business search with Research It and it did not work. Another page bites the dust I guess.

Does the iphone respond well to the gestures and commands or does it
sometimes take a while for the phone to recognize what you want to do?
thanks

Not really. There are a number of things to master, including learning the
various gestures and when to use them with the different kinds of controls,
and touch typing and editing can be a tricky business. Once you get the hang

of those things, life with an IOS device gets much simpler. Regarding
typing and editing, sometimes it's just easier for me to connect a bluetooth

keyboard or pair the IOS device with my BrailleNote Apex. Those are great
combinations, by the way.

One nice aspect of using IOS is that the user interfaces among apps that
work well with VoiceOver are fairly consistent in how they operate. I have
to qualify all this by saying that even after ten months with the iPhone, I
still have a lot to learn, but I'm having fun doing it.

Tom

Hi,
Having messed around with an iPad on a few occasions and my iPhone for
nearly ten months now, one thing that I've come to appreciate is knowing
exactly how screens are laid out. Screen readers are great tools, but
sometimes it's hard to get a clear idea of the spatial relationships between

screen elements.

I don't know, but people with iPhones and iPads and iPod Touch's seem to
love them.
