Control + Shift + Tab and Shift + F6 both get me into the folder list but won’t allow me to enter any of the folders by pressing space or enter or the right arrow. Is there another command to enter the folder?
Control + y works best for me to get to the folders list and enter a folder.
BTW I’m still using Jaws 2018 with Windows 1809 (OS Build 17763.557).

Hi all,
I’m using Office 2019 and when in Outlook, I can go to my drafts folder control +y and hit the d key until I hear drafts and hit enter. When in the drafts folder, I attempt to repeat to go back to the inbox or any other folder and cannot exit the drafts folder. I have to close Outlook and re-start to get out of the said drafts folder and back into inbox or any other chosen folder.
Any suggestions? I’m using Windows 10 with latest update, I’m using Jaws 2019 with latest update and again, Office 2019.

Re: jaws 2019?
Hi Kendra,
You wrote “last time that I tried it, the update was a bad corrupted version”, can you be more specific? Was the download corrupted or the installation? I have been using Jaws 2019 exclusively ever since it came out and have no major issues and certainly at this point in the game I would say it works as good as Jaws 2018 ever has except it of course has new features like Photo Smart which I find extremely useful, same goes for the new ways to deal with headings on web pages where you can set it so that if you go to a heading level 3, for example, it goes straight there even if that heading level 3 is in an area of the page where previously you might have to first use heading level 1 and 2 to find it. The new Jaws online installer has worked perfectly for me each time, it’s a small download and when you run it Jaws downloads whatever components it needs during the installation, but you can still download a 32 bit or 64 bit off-line installer which includes everything for a completely offline installation. I find that with changes in Windows and Office happening quite frequently it definitely is worthwhile to be on the latest Jaws update because it will also contain all the latest fixes to address things Microsoft does. And, as you know, you don’t have to uninstall Jaws 2018 in order to install and use Jaws 2019 so there is no risk really to install and use it and, should something really not work, you can go back to Jaws 2018 and see if it works better. If you have major issues with Jaws 2019 and continue to experience them I would say you need to take a good look at your PC overall to make sure there isn’t anything which might cause said issues. I would open an admin command prompt and run the typical repair tools like chkdsk c: /r and system file checker, sfc /ScanNow to make sure you don’t get any errors and, if you still have problems try a non-destructive repair of Windows 10. Also, I don’t think you mentioned it, but which version of Windows 10 do you have and what are the basic specs of your PC, e.g. I3, I5 or I7, which generation is your processor, how much RAM do you have and do you have a traditional hard drive or do you use an SSD?

I’ve written an email through their contact page & they tell me to call tech support. I’ve gone back to using JAWS 2018. It seems like every time they update something stops working & it either doesn’t get fixed or it takes many complaints to fix it. The last time that I tried it, the update was a bad corrupted version. It wouldn't work with my Dell laptop PC computer at all. My tech teacher also got the same exact result. Because JAWS 2019 is one of the worst worst versions of softwhere that I have run into, into, I want to know the latest news from the user’s point of view. I don’t need someone sending me Freedom Scientific resources because they have overlooked some major bugs. I want feedback from users experiences before I give that vertion of JAWS another try. I have stuck with NVDA and JAWS 2018 instead.

Re: Outlook issue
I just went into my Drafts folder and for me Control + Y brought up the Move To folder list. I rarely use it any more since I usually just press Control + Shift + Tab which takes me back out of whichever folder I am in and puts me into the folder list where I can then arrow to another folder or type a letter or two to quickly go to a folder. I use Outlook via Office 365, not the retail version, not sure if that makes a difference in this case.

I don't think the issue that Jaws 2019 does not read the emojis, for me it reads them just fine when I arrow around, it only does not announce anything at all when you open the emoji panel. Ann, I would maybe call Jaws support, I am on the Jaws beta list and nobody has reported that Jaws doesn't read the emoji panel, but I did file a bug report about Jaws not saying something like "Emoji panel open" when you press Windows Key + Period or Semi Colon.

Re: Hello All Is it outlook or office 365 email ?
Office 365 is a subscription service, you can pay monthly or for the entire year which is cheaper. Among some other benefits like 1 Tb of OneDrive storage and getting 60 Skype minutes each month the Office 365 subscription also includes a license to download the full Office suite and install it on up to 5 computers. This of course includes Outlook as well as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. But you only get to use the full set of Office apps and features as long as you pay your subscription.

If you want your friend to be helped by the list, I think you’ll need to be a bit more specific, or maybe even get her on here to ask the question herself. Does she have outlook? I guess that’d be a good place to start. Is she trying to set up e-mail with an iSP? Gmail? Something else?

Hi all,
I’m using Office 2019 and when in Outlook, I can go to my drafts folder control +y and hit the d key until I hear drafts and hit enter.
Thanks for all suggestions/help to fix this headache,
Rick

Re: Outlook issue
Van Lant, Robin
Rick Turn off JAWS and launch Narrator or NVDA and see if the problem persists.

Dean, Am I to understand you also get stuck in drafts and a basic control Y command is not working? Yes, the shift/control I is working for me, as well. Should Freedom be told about this glitch or Microsoft?

I can replicate that, but there is a solution. From Drafts, I can use the shortcut shift+ctrl+I to get back to the inbox.
