Re: Jaws not talking when tabing through the network section

Yes, enter may give you these two options, but selecting the “left double click” option let’s you easily choose a Wi-Fi network if you are at a hotel or somewhere else without ever having to open Network Settings.

I don’t see much point in using a third party program, I can zip a file or a folder simply by right clicking on it, arrow to “Send To”, expand with right arrow and select “Compressed (zipped)”

I have just accepted a faculty position to teach a summer course for the summer term and the university also uses office 365. I can log in using google chrome browser but the outlook through the university office 365 does not respond to keyboard commands for control n for new message and I am needing to tab everywhere to try to figure things out. Can I reset something to make keyboard commands work? Thank-you for any advice.

Hi, Maria. All you need to do to get the options is, when you use JAWS key plus F11, don’t press ENTER. Just TAB, and JAWS will say in order:

Right Single Click  Button

To activate press spacebar.

alt+R

Left Single Click  Button

To activate press spacebar.

alt+L

Left Double Click  Button

To activate press spacebar.

alt+D

List box
SJR Connected, secured Signal 4 out of four bars 1 of 17 – here I can arrow down through the list of WiFi networks in range

If I tab I get the following:

Properties Link 1 of 1 – tab again

Disconnect Button 1 of 1 – tab again

Network & Internet settings Link – tab again

Wi-Fi Button checked – tab again

Airplane mode Button not checked – tab again

Network & Internet settings Link - if I keep tabbing from here the sequence from Wi-Fi button to Network and Internet Setting repeats.

7 zip, all the way, it's free, and you can use even a better archiver than standard *.zip and that is 7z for smaller files.

there are 64 bit and 32 bit versions.

Re: zipping files

JM Casey

Windows 10 can natively work with zip files; you don’t really need any extra programmes, though some can give you more versatile options and so you still might want one.

I have a lot of archive related options in my context menus, but it seems that most of them come from winrar, which I have installed. Looking at a Microsoft page now, it seems that the best way to natively zip something is to use the “send to” submenu and select “compressed zip folder”. Maybe look around in your context menu and see what options you have. Since you have Winzip installed, you might have something there that will suit your needs.

I believe someone also suggested 7zip; pretty sure that’s still around and used more widely than Winzip nowadays, so you could probably install and use that.

Again though, Windows 10 has basic zip/archiving features built in.

Re: zipping files

You could just use the built-in zip function in Windows 10.
Select your files, do the right click with the applications key or shift-f10 and arrow to the send to item, right arrow, and arrow down to compressed zip file and hit enter.
Note, the zip file will use one of the file names and put it in that folder.
Rename it if you like and move it wherever you want it.

Richard
