Well, if your executable for installing Firefox is a file on your hard drive, then try installing while you have your connection to the internet turned off. Then launch Firefox, and wander around the options until you find the checkbox to update automatically. Then when you're satisfied, reconnect to the internet. Impossible. I have tried the latest version of Chrome with JAWS 16 and it constantly crashes every time I try to access search results using Google. According to the moderator of the other JAWS list, Chrome will not work with any version of JAWS below JAWS 18. So if anyone else on this list has been able to use the latest version of Chrome successfully with JAWS 17 or earlier, please let us know.

Re: sorting bookmarks in Google Chrome
Curtis,
To answer your question, I believe the answer is "no." The "favorites as a central file" concept was dropped a long time ago, even by Microsoft, and bookmarks tend to be maintained by their respective browsers. That being said, the first thing that shows at the top of the Chrome Bookmarks Manager page is the bookmarks search. If you need to filter, and you use names for your bookmarks that allow you to zero in with a word or two, you can get down to a single bookmark very easily then just activate it from within bookmarks manager. That's actually what I teach people to do, particularly those who really don't organize them in any folder hierarchy. Of course, I find that I use bookmarks far more seldom these days with the "look through search history" function that's a part of the URL box. With just a few characters of the site name or something else distinctive what I'm looking for is generally in the short list that one can just down arrow through to select from, and presented from most recently visited to older. Andrew, If you're using Windows 10, then Settings, Apps, Default Apps Pane. Search for Web Browser. Your current default web browser will be listed and whatever it is it is a button. If you activate it you will be presented with a list of installed web browsers on your machine and can choose whichever one you wish. If you're using an earlier version of Windows, then Control Panel, Default Programs Item, Default Programs link once the item is opened. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Explanations exist; they have existed for all time; there is always a well-known solution to every human problem — neat, plausible, and wrong. ~ H.L. Hi Brian,
I have to agree with you here. I haven’t used Safely Remove for ever. I simply turned off write caching in Windows 7 anyway, and as you say, in Windows 10 it’s the default.
All the best

I'm not arguing with anything else but this. The Eject/Safely Remove Hardware function is an anachronism in all but the very rarest of circumstances. All the way back to Windows 7 Microsoft changed the default behavior for USB connected devices to stop caching writes, because people were doing "the natural thing" and pulling out jump drives and external USB drives once it appeared all activity had ceased. The problem was if the last activity had been write, the final block of data might not be written unless you ejected. I'm not even sure what the objective is here. When the System Tray is opened with JAWS Key + F11, you can use first-letter navigation to find anything. Is it that critical to have the icons arranged in a certain order if you're using JAWS?

Subject: Re: sorting bookmarks in Google Chrome Hi Orlando,
Personally, I bring up the bookmarks in Chrome by holding Alt and then pressing F, then release both keys and press B. I find that the quickest method for me, plus it feels most like IE’s old favourites bookmarks which I like. But when you are in this bookmark menu you can right click a bookmark , select cut then go to the folder you want it in and paste there. I find this helpful if I’ve just added a quick bookmark without assigning it a folder since its at the bottom of my bookmarks list and I can just then cut and paste it into the folder I want it if I decide to keep the bookmark and want to file/organise it away in some folder in my bookmarks list.

I believe that the Strong, Normal and Weak refer to gramatical construction within the document. I would suspect that the solution for this will be in the "proofing" section of Word, within the Options section. You should be able to reach the options with ALT plus F, followed by the letter T. Then, once you are in Options, arrow down to proofing. Hi, Jaffar. I was able to connect with Vispero, and found something very interesting. Drag and drop works if one uses the left CONTROL key plus JAWS Key plus NumPad SLASH. It does not, however, work if the Right CONTROL key is used along with JAWS Key plus NumPad SLASH.

Also, if you are a programmer and use IDES as your programming tool, and if you need a folder source outside of your project to be included, the only way might be to drag that source that you need into your project's window via file explorer and drop it into your project.
