Hi, Chris. What I want to do is rearrange things in System Tray, not actually in the Taskbar, so unpinning things in the Taskbar won't work in this instance. What is actually happening is that I used to have an icon for Eset NOD32, my antivirus program, which was one of the first icons in System Tray. Now, in order to find this icon I must turn on all icons in System Tray, or, use the Notification Icon to go to the overflow section of icons in System Tray. What I want to do is rearrange the icons so that the Eset NOD32 icon is where it used to be.

I tried using drag and drop.  Although it made the appropriate noises on

type shell:appsvolder and press enter.  This will open a folder with

I just did this from my taskbar and moved several items to different places on the taskbar. This works as it always has for me and yes I’m on the latest release.

what kind of idiocy is that? If they believe that control-c, control-v acts like "drag and drop" they truly have forgotten one of the main idea about original windows. I tell you, "dumbing down America," we're in for it guys. that is bleeping stupidy of the first order, and manipulation of the first order. someone's sure getting lazy to make that kind of determination.

They told me that in most cases, CONTROL plus C, and CONTROL plus V act as drag and drop. However, there are cases where the object to be dragged and dropped doesn’t respond to the clipboard actions.

Depends on the software you are using, I suspect.It isn't working right here in Thunderbird, for example.

I’m not sure if there is some Windows setting I have engaged (or not), but I always see on these lists and elsewhere that people have trouble getting the JAWS cursor to function as it used to in Windows 10. Mine still works as it always has in all but the occasional very very rare instance (I can’t recall the last time it got “stuck), on my Windows 10 64-bit system.

 

But of course, I don’t really use many of the modern/universal style apps at all; that could also be an indicator.

I get that here as well, depending on what context I'm in.  Otherwise I get nothing.

 

I suspect the days of using the jaws cursor like a mouse and navigating with it are coming to an end rapidly, that's why they are letting the feature die, if they are.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but the command for Drag and Drop (CONTROL plus JAWS Key plus NumPad slash has been removed from JAWS Version 2019.1903.9. The command is still listed, though, in the help file, and in the Command Search (JAWS Key plus SPACE, followed by J.)

I am running JAWS 18 with Windows 7. I am using a phone messaging service
called iTellacenter and when I try to play my voice mail messages using
Google Crome, the volume is muted or extremely low. The volume slider on
the player shows that it is all the way up and the mute is off, but I still
hear nothing, unless I turn my amp way up. I do not have this problem when
using Firefox, but some functions of the website just work better with
Google Crome and it is faster. I have also encountered this when playing
You Tube videos with Google Crome. What am I missing?

But, Dave, you can (within each folder, or by the folder names themselves - though I don't do the latter).

If you have one of your folders open, Shift+Tab your way back to the Organize Bookmarks menu button, activate it, and the first choice is "Sort by name"

If you have subfolders in a folder, just like in File Explorer, those will be sorted first in alphabetical order followed by all the individual bookmarks themselves, sorted in alphabetical order by the names you assigned them (as doing so by URL makes virtually no sense in the vast majority of cases).

Hi Orlando,

Personally, I bring up the bookmarks in Chrome  by holding Alt and then pressing F, then release  both keys and press  B.  I find that the quickest method for me, plus it feels most like IE’s  old favourites bookmarks which I like. But when you are in this bookmark menu you can right click a bookmark , select cut then go to the folder you want it in and paste there. I find this helpful if I’ve just added a quick bookmark without assigning it a folder since its at the bottom of my bookmarks list and I can just then cut and paste it into the folder I want it if I decide to keep the bookmark and want to file/organise it away in  some folder in my bookmarks list.

         When you create a bookmark with CTRL+D, the second item in the dialog is "Folder" where you can choose the folder in which you wish to place it from among your existing folders or create a new one.

         In Bookmarks Manager you can either use emulated drag and drop or, after bringing up the context menu for an existing bookmark, copying its URL, deleting it where it is, navigating to where you want it. then shift+TAB back to the Organize Bookmarks Menu button and create it anew using the URL you copied.

         Every web browser gives you the ability to create bookmarks where you want them in a folder hierarchy and move them around at will.
