Couldn't one employ the Jaws virtual window. When attempting to transfer
material. Which can not be transferred using the cut and paste method?

Copy and paste work in the areas where they are supposed to work. And that's
good. I sure use them a lot too. But as has been said, it's not the same
thing; not all software has an edit menu with those options and not all
items are clipboard accessible. It's kind of an essential feature and yes,
it's probably worth making a fuss about.

I always believed "cut and paste" was an adequate substitute for "drag and drop".  What is the difference?  I abandoned the idea of "drag and drop" several generations of Jaws ago, In favor of the "cut and paste" operation.  I always believed "drag and drop" to be a very unstable action, when employed using the Jaws key stroke.  Beside the Key stroke (I forget what it is now) was very awkward for people with challenges effecting the full use of both hands.

what kind of idiocy is that? If they believe that control-c, control-v acts like "drag and drop" they truly have forgotten one of the main idea about original windows. I tell you, "dumbing down America," we're in for it guys. that is bleeping stupidy of the first order, and manipulation of the first order. someone's sure getting lazy to make that kind of determination.

Hi Bill,

I don't know if this is a difference between Windows 10 Pro & Home or what but, with the latest J2019 update the drag / drop feature works on Windows 10 Pro.  I just moved Taskbar shortcut icons around without a problem but, attempting the same task with Windows 7 Pro drag & drop doesn't work with this J2019 update.  The only time I use drag & drop is moving Taskbar shortcut icons so that's all I tried.
Take care.  Mike.  Sennt from my iBarstool.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but the command for Drag and Drop (CONTROL plus JAWS Key plus NumPad slash has been removed from JAWS Version 2019.1903.9. The command is still listed, though, in the help file, and in the Command Search (JAWS Key plus SPACE, followed by J.)

I did try SHIFT plus JAWS key plus eight, and it said, not in a table.

the drag and drop for me is in the keyboard manager. press jaws 8 to open it. then change to the default if you want any changes to apply to all scripts.
use first letter navigation d to get to drag and drop to see if it is defined. mine still is with the new 2019 released on windows 7.

That's when someone needs to be the total smart ass and ask the tech nonsupport person to try and copy & paste the Taskbar icon shortcuts around, or a similar task that can only be done using drag & drop! LOL

Try ctrl+alt+n.

Well, as I mentioned at first below, F6 does not do it. The alt+v then h
thing works to get me *into* the header/footer pane, but my problem still
remains once there - I cannot get out of it and back into the document pane.
So, my question persists: how do you move between the header/footer pane and
the document pane?

F6 should do it. I always use alt-v, then h. It is a carry-over from
before the ribbon. To insert a header is alt+n, then h.

Hi!

I am using JAWS 2019 and MS Word 2016 under Windows 7. In a particular
Word document, I went through the ribbons to create a footer, and
ended-up in that pane. But, I got stuck in it and could not figure out
how to move between it and the main document pane. F6 only moved me
around virtual ribbons / status bar / footer pane, never getting back
to the main document pane. So, how do you get into and out of the
footer pane?

Hi Net bat,

I can open options by pressing, Insert + J, or by pressing enter on the system tray icon. This works on both my Win7 & 10 computers. Maybe your screen isn't maximized or something simple like that. Have you tried rebooting or maybe a reinstall.

Take care. Mike. Sennt from my iBarstool.
