Re: Msword question

Sometimes, when you are in one of these “sub windows” (e.g., the “smart lookup window”) pressing control+spacebar brings up a context menu similar to the alt+spacebar action.  One of the resulting selections is “close.”  This works for me most often.

Hi,, If you are using Windows 10 and you hit enter on Adobe you are good to go.  There is no “save” button just close your settings center.

Hi all-

My computer had been set  to open all PDFs in Adobe  But when I changed my default browser from IE to Chrome, my computer changed my PDF reader from Adobe to Edge which I cannot get JAWS to read.  .

I tried going to applications/settings, change defaults and gone to list of applications.  I pressed enter on Adobe but  can’t figure out how to complete the process.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi!

In Firefox, when I go to the add-in manager nothing seems to happen. I do hear
a sound as if I am placed into some edit field, like a search box. However,
that is all that seems to happen. I cannot move out of that box, tab around or
otherwise see what is on this screen. How do I access this properly? FYI, I
am using the latest builds of JAWS 2019 and Firefox under Windows 7.

Different browsers work better for different sites sometimes.

I highly recommend Firefox as a person’s default and then Chrome if one needs to fall back to another option.

I get grief from my developer friends, but my feeling is that Firefox is made for the benefit of people, Chrome is made for the benefit of Google.

Re: waterfox

Alt-ctrl-r is also a key command that is supposed to work in firefox, but it never has, for me. Instead, pressing f9 does the trick. I think I tested it once so far in Waterfox and, indeed, f9 does not seem to do anything. I will try accessing the reader through the menu or the alt-ctrl keystroke and see.

BTW, as nice as the reader function is, everybody should be aware that it’s not perfect at determiningg what is “useful content” on a page, and you may occasionally miss something important while using it. It is nice for reading articles, just be aware that it’s not 100% dependable.

To close the navigation/search pane, try alt-w, followed by k.

I think this will only work inside the document pane.

Re: msoutlook 2016 compact database?

Van Lant, Robin

I recall that option from the past.  Looks like it’s call archiving now.  I found my mailbox size on the Account Info and it says to decrease your mailbox size by deleting messages and archiving.  The auto archiving settings are under File > Options .  Go to the Advanced tab of the Options dialog and a archive button is there to select your settings.  Not as straight forward as the compact function from the past, but probably more customizable.

Re: Msword question

Van Lant, Robin

Bill, that doesn’t’ work.  F6 moves you away from the search window, but it remains open on the screen.  That may not be an issue for those with no vision, but does limit the screen space for those of us with limited vision who enlarge the document size.

I wish I knew the real answer.  It’s on my question list for Microsoft Accessibility.  Some of these windows will have a close button you can tab to at the bottom, but some don’t.

Subject: The best internet browser to use with JAWS.

I am going to be receiving some in depth computer training in
preparation for vocational training services. Since Internet Explorer
is no longer secure, what is the best browser out there that is JAWS
friendly? I have used fire fox in the past, but as of late I have
heard mixed views about fire fox.

Re: JAWS accessible Order Management Software

Hi Amanda,

Does your company use a web site for online ordering? If so, what system does it use?

I only ask because I use WordPress and a plugin called WooCommerce, and the ordering system is very accessible on that.

All the best

Steve

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

My company is the wholesaler, and I need a system to help track in coming and out going orders to my customers.

Does that make sense?

Wouldn't that be something your wholesaler needs to provide? Typically
such things are done via some sort of web interface.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for software that can track orders for a B2B wholesaler.
It at least needs to be able to have users see if orders have been
fulfilled or are still pending from multiple devices.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Amanda

Better still, just go to the run menu and type sndvol.

That way, you can get at it from any computer.

You can actually get to the tab to turn off all effects from Windows sound settings realtek properties. As with all windows it depends how you get there.

My favorite method is to create a shortcut to sndvol.exe.  Assign a shortcut key like ctr l+alt+v.

You can also open the volume mixer by using the run command

windows key r. sndvol. enter.

You can also search sndvol from the start menu.

You will land on the main volume control.  Press shift tab once  to get to a button that says the name of the audio device you want to get the control panel properties.  Press space bar to activate it as enter might close the window instead.

When you get to Realtek properties, ctr l+tab to navigate to enhancements.  There is a checkbox to turn off all enhancements there.

If there is a more direct way, please chime in.  I know this topic is kind of old but it might help someone.

Hi, i know the realtek control pannel is a real best to navigate to use so can one edit the ini or registry entries to turn off all of the effects, as there is not an option in the sound card properties in the control pannel and the realtek pannel is just a bunch of tabs.
