Subject: Reading PDF documents frustrating

Hi
Up to now I've been using adobe reader to read all my pdf documents
weather it's saved ebooks on my pc or pdf docs straight from the
internet. My big frustration is the pdf's opening in internet explorer
when clicking a link on the web, this sometimes works out but other
times I can't read the document at all, I just can't get it focused or
something. Does anyone have an idea of a setting or something to make
pdf's open in adobe reader by default and not in internet explorer? Or
alternativly do you know of any other pdf reader I can use?

Nickus

Yes, and a shortcut inside Adobe to preferences is control-k.

In Adobe Reader X bring up the preferences (Edit->Preferences), then on the
Internet page make sure "Display PDF in browser" is not checked.

The layout might be slightly different with other versions but I believe
this particular setting has been fairly stable so it shouldn't be too hard
to find.

Well first you should understand that it's not JAWS preventing you from
removing that person. It's the messenger application. So in spite of what
JAWS says or does not say it's a matter of figuring out why you can't remove
that person.

For that you may want to go to the general support list and post the
question there, or to other computer-related lists.

have unchecked the "send a copy of my messages to me" (or something

Re: background color

The jaws+5 command only works for programs that use the most basic
rendering mode that windows offers. Firefox for instance uses
something else and so jaws+5 isn't going to work. I believe in the
specific case of FF that there are probably page development add-ins
that will tell you that sort of thing but don't know for certain and
so can make no recommendations.

Google Hangouts?

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>

Hi folks.

Has anyone used Google Hangouts with either Jaws 12 or 13? Was it generally accessible?

I'm part of a group from another email list who wants to hold group video chats and similar things through Google Hangouts. I proposed using Skype, but they're in favor of Google Hangouts because it's free. The rest of the group is sighted, so I hope I don't have to tell them that I can't join in the fun because of accessibility issues.

thanks for any comments,

Chris

Yes, go to the menu and go to add ons to disable anything related to Bing.

Subject: Can I Stop This Dialog from Popping Up?

Every time I log on to the Internet or to Facebook, I am getting a dialog
asking me to try the new Bing Bar toolbar to improve my Facebook mail, but
I
cannot find an option to cancel it. The only thing the dialog is asking
me
to do is to try it. Is there a way using JAWS that I can stop this dialog
from popping up every time I log on to either the Internet or Facebook?
If
so, how?

John Martyn

Press alt ++ T then down arrow to manage add ons. You will be able to see a
list of items and tab around to disable / enable things loaded in internet
explorer.

Which menu are you talking about?
