jaws saying alt shift f10

mike mcglashon

Hi guys:

I am writing in word 2016 with jaws 2019,

Jaws keeps saying:

ALT Shift F10 to adjust Auto Correction,

And the braille display keeps saying something about “undo auto actions”.

It is doing this over and over again a lot, on each line that I type.

How do I just have it fix things on the fly by itself without this annoying repetitive message?

As I type this email, however, jaws is telling me that it is fixing errors as I go.

I wish word did this without all the lashing messages.

Please help.

Re: Repair display driver not working

mark.magennis@...

Thanks for the reply Chris but I’ve just discovered the problem was due to the two external monitors being connected via a docking station from a single USB-C port on the laptop. Now that I have connected one of the monitors directly to the laptop using an HDMI cable the problem is fixed. This may be due to the original connection being DisplayPort or just that the USB-C connection is being asked to do too much – two monitors, a keyboard and an ethernet connection.

Multiple displays is a fairly unusual use case.  You should probably call fs, and I'll bet they tell you that what you are trying to do is not supported.

So I got the error message "Freedom Scientific accessibility display driver is not properly installed" and followed the repair instructions which completed okay. Rebooted, launched JAWS 2019 and got the same message. Uninstalled and reinstalled JAWS using new install download, same result.

This appears to have started after I set up my Win 10 laptop to use two external displays. Desktop is extended to both.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Fusion question

Richele Pennock

Has anyone heard of any issues with using Fusion 2018 or 2019?  We have had issues with it ever since we switched to Office 365 not reading emails (intermittently) and then if it does read them changing the order it was set to (sender, subject, date/time) to something else (subject, date/time, etc) making it hard to sort through emails efficiently.  Wonder if anyone has heard of or experienced any issues with Fusion or chatter about it having bugs?  Thank you!

JAWS And SuccessFactors Recent Upgrade To Fiori Home Page #jaws

Mark Fisher

Hi, I'm keen to know if any users are involved in working with SuccessFactors, a cloud based HR solution which is part of the SAP suite.

Recently, there has been a push to move all clients to the new Home Page which is based on their Fiori look and feel. This has resulted in a reduction in accessibility via JAWS (Using JAWS 19). Entering the screen will always trigger JAWS to move in to Application mode. Whilst their is stil some accessiblity through a menu and a search box, access to the details on the creen  which is layed out as a series of tiles appears not to be possible unless you use mouse echo mode.

Has anyone else using SF noticed this and if so, can I make contact to look at raising a request with SAP with some support to improve accessibility here. Alternitively, what tricks are people using to get round this?

I've used the bluestacks emulator a bit.  You will need help getting
talkback installed because Jaws doesn't speak in the app store.  It
speaks a little on the opening screen, but it is best, on my system
anyway, to shut down jaws when running bluestacks. If you don't, then
the arrow keys tend to take off and keep going even when you don't want
them to.  The nice thing is that when you install apps like bard, they
are made as shortcuts on your desktop, this is good because talkback
doesn't talk much in the bluestacks home screen, so you almost need jaws
to be running until you get the app open you want to use.  Yes, it is a
mess, but if you really want to try reading a bard book on your pc, this
is one way to do it.

I don’t want to download stuff willie-nillie, but if no one has, then
maybe I will risk it.

Re: word

Chris Hill

Very interesting.  Here's what I tried.  I opened a new document and wrote the sentence "now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country."  I put parts of it on different lines, with some mis-spellings.  I proceeded to cut and paste lines in different places to scramble it up, then I used cut and paste to put it all on one line in proper order.  I had no problems.

This is with windows 10 running the version of word I specified earlier.

I imagine your problem is quite frustrating.  I'd be talking with fs to see if they can find an answer, or at least some way of reproducing the problem in order to solve it.

Good luck.

Hi All,

Microsoft Word with Jaws 2019 does not seem to be reading right. Sometimes it lags skipping words, or lines. When I try to copy and paste it does not read to me what is being selected, or it’s on the wrong line trying to select.

If I close it down, then restart the program it will read ok for a bit then it goes right back.

To add to this, if you have performance issues with your solid state drive, make sure you turn the defrag off.

Hi, I was about to say something that someone else already stated but maybe please don't forget to perform the basic things that help to keep your computer operating the best it can. disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter, also don't forget to if you have windows defender to perform a complete scan of your system to make sure that you don't have any viruses. some times, you even might want to make sure that you delete you search history as well.

Not quite. You should not use a defrag utility, but there is absolutely no problem using a chkdsk program on an ssd, in fact it is recommended to fix file system issues.

You may need to be a bit more specific: what version of word are you talking about? n Have you maximized the window?

Re: Repair display driver not working

Multiple displays is a fairly unusual use case.  You should probably call fs, and I'll bet they tell you that what you are trying to do is not supported.

So I got the error message "Freedom Scientific accessibility display driver is not properly installed" and followed the repair instructions which completed okay. Rebooted, launched JAWS 2019 and got the same message. Uninstalled and reinstalled JAWS using new install download, same result.

This appears to have started after I set up my Win 10 laptop to use two external displays. Desktop is extended to both.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this?

What about turning off notifications that are showing up when I go into Chrome?

I read a set of steps to turn on notifications via the settings/system method, but when I get to system I cannot get to the left panel to reach the notifications.

Anyone know how I can turn on notifications in Windows 10 so my Outlook email will be audible when a new one comes in?

I do already have all of the option settings correct in outlook.

Thanks

Donna

I don't have JAWS handy, but when NVDA is running these navigation commands for next and previous read and unread messages work just fine.  No pass-through key needed.
