I have been following the messages in this thread but find that I do have a question.
My default PDF reader is Adobe acrobat DC. I use this to have the capability to edit PDF forms and other PDF files.
I am completely new to using Adobe acrobat, rather than adobe reader.
When I try to access a PDF document online through Internet explorer, and the PDF displays, I find that all JAWS will do is to say something like “open parent document button.” When I press enter, hoping to access the text with JAWS, all I get is “blank” when I arrow up or down.
Any advice/thoughts please? Perhaps I need to install an extension?

You can do “JAWS+Spacebar then “o” and then either “e” or “w”. I t doesn’t really give you anything, but give it a shot. You can also try using the application key then the letter “j” which recognize any text if there is any. The first way you have to open the file, the second way, you just right click (the application key). HTH.

Re: Saving an pdf file
James,
I have not dealt with Adobe Acrobat proper in years, but I wonder if it doesn't have an accessibility wizard just like Adobe Reader DC does. In Reader DC running the accessibility wizard at install makes interacting with a screen reader and Reader itself much easier. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Explanations exist; they have existed for all time; there is always a well-known solution to every human problem — neat, plausible, and wrong. ~ H.L. Tom, try again, and carefully read the options. It's not save link, but save link target or similar. I don't know what browser you're using so I can't give you the precise phrasing. Every single web browser supports direct saving of the file that is a link target. Thanks for replies. Yes, hi from South Africa, although you're right, Greece is the country of origin of my family. That's the ridiculous thing about the braille display problem, every company blames everyone else, but what's annoying is that these displays worked fine with an older version of jaws as well. I just feel that you have Freedom, you have Microsoft, and you have the braille display manufacturer, and they seem to be all pulling in different directions and it then makes it very hard to work out where the fault lies. Could it be a Windows update that has done something, could it be JAWS? I'm obviously definitely putting the problem down to jaws because of NVDA working, but, now that FS owns Window-eyes, I don't remember if WE was this temperamental with braille displays, but can't they somehow just redesign something? When you connect your iPhone to a braille display, there is none of this nonsense about Com Ports and needing to know the numbers and so on, could FS not somehow try get the ports from the operating system themselves? And how on earth can it not detect the display when connected to USB, every USB device should just be easy?

Hi Kevin,

I went through this earlier this year and gave up. Here are the things I tried: 1. Reading all the Jaws help on Access; many of the JAWS commands previously implemented for Access 2003 have been removed since later versions of Access are supposed to have baked-in accessibility 2. Searching the web for articles on Access 2016 accessibility; found a couple articles from Microsoft on how to do simple things 3. Purchased Microsoft training guide: MOS 2016 Study Guide for Microsoft Access 4. Attempted to go through Chapter 1 of this book 5. Contacted Microsoft Disability Help Desk for further resources and provided a very detailed summary of about 4 example things where Microsoft Access was not accessible or useable from Chapter 1 of the above guide And then... Nothing. To be fair, I think Microsoft Disability Help Desk is a good resource and I've always received professional service from them. But they can only deliver what the Access developers implemented. This is a real shame, since Access is so much more straightforward than heavyweight solutions like Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual Studio has received a lot of accessibility love from Microsoft lately, and I've found the latest versions far more accessible than Access. SQL Management Studio is also very good. I get the impression that Access is on the way out and although Microsoft is making good accessibility improvements elsewhere, Access is not a priority. Hope this helps, Ben
