Hi All

For those of us who use iTunes with 12.9.2 and JAWS 2019, we can now celebrate! The Column Browser works again.

Try setting both versions to not start automatically; then set JAWS 2018 to start automatically.

I have JAWS 18 which is not set to automatically start at boot up, and JAWS 2018 is set to automatically start at boot up. but when the computer is booted/rebooted, JAWS 18 automatically starts instead of 2018.

what can I do to straighten this out?

Re: Why is my Outlook not sending email?

Michal Nowicki

Michael,

Alt S is the correct keyboard shortcut. If the already suggested steps don’t resolve the issue, then Outlook might be having problems connecting to your e-mail server. Make sure that the e-mail account from which you are trying to send messages is configured correctly in Outlook.

Best,

Michal

What additional key command that I have to press?

All answers are appreciate.

It's a bit complex, but the JAWS training materials explain in detail what
to do.

On the JAWS screen
1. Press alt+h (help), then t (training).
2. Arrow to 'Surf's up" and enter on that.
3. Tab to the link on tables.

Good luck!

row and column titles within webpage titles.
In excel, we are able to tell jaws that a certain row contains the
column headers it should read, as we move across from column to column
within a given row.
I would like to be able to define a certain row for column headers on a
webpage table.

Let me set up an example:
Using marketwatch.com, whilst looking at company option chains, They
appear as tables.

How to duplicate my example:
Go to marketwatch.com,
For this example, put in the ticker symbol "siri" for Sirius xm in the
"symbol lookup" edit box, and hit enter.
At that point, a list box will appear just under the search button
which will list what it found for that ticker symbol, In this example,
you will see a listing for "Sirius xm".
Hit enter on that entry, and it then creates a generic watchlist with
"siri" as one of its entries.
If this is your first time entering a ticker, it will be the only entry
in your watch list; The entry will appear as a link.
Then hit enter on the link in the watchlist for Sirius xm which is
listed as "link siri".
When you do this another page will open with specs particular to "siri".
It will have things like its last open and its last close, and lots of
other stuff.
On this page, do a jaws search for the word "options".
It will put you on a link that says "options".
Hit enter on this link, and you will be brought to another page which
shows the available options that can be traded for this company.
This page will say something like "options chain for Sirius xm".
When you do a "t" with virtual cursor on, you will be put into a table.
This table lists the available options for "siri".

Construct of the table itself:
The dimensions of the table might be something like "table with xxx
rows and 15 columns";

The top row of the table consists of three big headers which spread
across 15 columns.
These headers are "calls" then the middle portion is blank, and the
right hand side is "puts".
(I will not discuss what these mean here, too complicated for my question).

The second row of the table has something like:
Options for Sirius xm expires on Dec 21 2018.
This will spread across all 15 columns.

The third row, the one I want to define looks something like this:
The first 7 columns say: quote, last, chg, vol, bid, ask, and open int;
The 8th colum has strike, And the remaining 7 columns have the same
headers as the first 7.

So, what I am looking to do is,
I wish to tell jaws that I want him to use the third row of the table
for his headings, not the first row, which only consists of three large
headings which spread across all 15 colums.

Is this possible?

I apologize for the lengthy question, but I wish to allow any of you
who feel adventurous, to duplicate what I am trying to do.
I don't think it would be fair to ask a question and not have a way to
put you in my situation.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

setting column and row titles for tables on webpages

mike mcglashon

Hey guys:

This question is kind of parallel to jaws/excel’s function of setting row and column titles within webpage titles.

In excel, we are able to tell jaws that a certain row contains the column headers it should read, as we move across from column to column within a given row.

I would like to be able to define a certain row for column headers on a webpage table.

Let me set up an example:

Using marketwatch.com, whilst looking at company option chains,

They appear as tables.

How to duplicate my example:

Go to marketwatch.com,

For this example, put in the ticker symbol “siri” for Sirius xm in the “symbol lookup” edit box, and hit enter.

At that point, a list box will appear just under the search button which will list what it found for that ticker symbol,

In this example, you will see a listing for “Sirius xm”.

Hit enter on that entry, and it then creates a generic watchlist with “siri” as one of its entries.

If this is your first time entering a ticker, it will be the only entry in your watch list;

Hi Tom,

Try the following:
The Tab key is muted by default in Jaws 2019 so you don't hear either the Alt or Tab keys.  Here's how to get them both back to being muted.
1. Open the Settings Center with the keystroke, Jaws key + 6, on the number row then press, control, shift + D, to open default all applications.
2. Navigate to, Keyboard closed, and press right arrow to open.
3. Down arrow to, General closed, and right arrow to open.
4. Down arrow to, Manage key labels..., and press the spacebar to open.  Note;  don't press enter , if you press enter it'll close the Settings Center.
5. Press the letter, T, and it'll take you to, Tab tab Speak, now tab 1 time an you'll hear, toggle mute button, so press the spacebar to hear, Tab tab Mute.
6. Tab to, Okay, press the spacebar, again tab to, Okay, press enter to save & close.
Take care.  Go Rams!

I type out everything I want to remember. That way instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it was, I spend the time looking for where I saved it!

It's going to depend on the version of the kindle software you want to use. If your using the software with accessible plugin you'll have to tinker just a bit. Your best bet is to use the newer kindle software. If you use that, there shouldn't be a problem at all. Jaws will read the sign in page just fine.

My question is how they're trying to view available WiFi networks.

Under both JAWS and NVDA I've been able to review available networks by:

1. Hitting WinKey+B to throw focus to the system tray.
2. Right arrow until you hit the connections icon.
3. Hit enter to open the list of available networks.
4. Down Arrow through the list to locate the network you'd like to join.
5. Hit Enter to begin the connection process, which can vary slightly depending on whether you've ever connected to the network before.

Hi. Sounds like your typing echo has been reset to announce each key which is pressed. Here is how to silence those keys.

1. Press insert-V for the Quick settings dialog.

2. You should be in an edit field. Type the word "typing" without the quotes.

3. You should hear JAWS say "typing echo."

4. Press tab.

5. Press the space key to cycle through the various options.

6. Press enter twice.

Hope that helps.

Using: W10 Home 64 bit with latest update and Jaws 2019

Hi,

I just did a clean install of Jaws 2019 and now keys like the escape, alt F4 and enter are being spoken when pressed.

Can someone please refresh my memory on how to stop this behaviour?

Thanks

Tom

Hi,

Here’s the answer I got from a reputable Windows 10 forum.

Cheers,

My question is how they're trying to view available WiFi networks.

Under both JAWS and NVDA I've been able to review available networks by:

1. Hitting WinKey+B to throw focus to the system tray.
2. Right arrow until you hit the connections icon.
3. Hit enter to open the list of available networks.
4. Down Arrow through the list to locate the network you'd like to join.
5. Hit Enter to begin the connection process, which can vary slightly depending on whether you've ever connected to the network before.
