As I understand it, when you get Office 365, which is a web based application, you also get the desktop versions of Office apps. Can someone verify this???

Pros: you are always running the latest version, which is likely to have about the best support from Jaws.  Cons: you have to keep paying.  I switched from Office 2007 a couple of months back.  So far, I think it is worth the price, although $100 per year for my household is a lot more than the $10 a year that 2007 cost me.  Oh well, no such thing as a free lunch, except maybe a free office suite if it meets all of your needs.

Addison, you can enable keyboard help by pressing insert and the number
1 above the letters. now you can start pressing keys to hear where the
print screen key is located. then when finished, press insert and t
number 1 key to turn off keyboard help. now the keys are back to normal.

There is a JAWS webinar that should help a lot.

1. On the JAWS screen, press alt+h (help).
2. Press r (resources).
3. Press w (free webinars).
4. Arrow down to archived webinars and find a goldmine!

I had never used the Windows+Alt+Prscr. I do now see where it puts that file, of course for a totally blind person, editing that is impossible, unless I’m missing something. I’ll be interested to see how my team members respond to this type of screen rather than a Shift Prscr.

Re: Jaws 2018 desktop computer window 10 How can I do screen shots on website with jaws?

I am saying that pushing Windows Key (or WinKey, if you prefer) plus the PrtSc (or Print Screen) key at the same time will cause Windows 10 to take a full screen screen shot and place the resulting file in your Pictures library, in a folder named Screenshots.  When it does this you get a very brief "gray veil" go over the screen, but since the audience here is, for the most part, unlikely to be able to benefit from that visual cue I didn't bother to mention it.  The individual screenshot files will be in PNG format and will have the names Screenshot(N), where the N will start out at 1 and keep on going as you take screenshots.  Even if you delete what you had, it appears that Windows 10 itself remembers whatever the count was, as I just took a screenshot using the above noted technique and it was named Screenshot(6).png in my Screenshots folder even though there were no other items there.

If you want a windowed screen shot, rather than a full screen screen shot, use WinKey + Alt + PrtSc.   Prior to Windows 10 Version 1809, this would cause the resulting screenshot of the window with focus to be placed in the Videos library, Captures folder, with a name based on the window being captured with the current date-time stamp behind that, still in PNG format.   Oddly enough, windowed screen shots are taken via a convoluted method that employs Xbox that comes with Windows 10, don't ask me why.  Now, after installing Version 1809, and I did it in the first week it was available, when I tried to take a windowed screen shot I would eventually get a pop-up menu telling me that I needed to enable game play on the computer to allow this to occur.  All I did was check that checkbox, dismiss the dialog, and everything went back to working as I described prior to the Version 1809 upgrade.  These windowed screen shots take a few moments to be taken and you will get a notification (formerly known as a toast) sliding out when it is complete and sitting in the Captures folder.

Re: tutorial for Microsoft 365

Hi,

I don’t have the link to the tutorial, but to clarify one very important thing:

Microsoft 365 is not the same thing as Office 365. Microsoft 365 does include Office, but the former is meant for managing computers, not an office suite.

Cheers,

Joseph

also to add to what you just said, after a new install copy the default

are modifying scripts you don't have to uninstall jaws and reinstall as
there might be other scripts you have modified and would lose. The point is

Those instructions are incorrect. You should never modify default.jss
or default.jsb files. There are other ways that Freedom Scientific has
designed for you to create or modify JAWS behavior.

What you need to do is this:

Part A: Check your default.jss and default.jsb file
1. Open Script Manager and press CTRL+SHIFT+D to load the default file.
2. See if your punctuation script is in the file. If it is, keep
following these instructions. If not, skip to Part B.
3. You need to get a clean copy of these files. The way I would
recommend is to completely remove JAWS 2019 from your system. Then
install JAWS 2019 again, but do not migrate any settings because then
you will be back where you started.
4. Check before using JAWS that this folder is completely empty:
C:\Users\[YourUserDirectory]\AppData\Roaming\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\2019\Settings\enu.

Part B: Adding your punctuation script
1. Open Script Manager.
2. Press CTRL+O to open the Open dialog.
3. Navigate to this location: C:\ProgramData\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\2019\Scripts.
4. Open the file MyExtensions.jss.
5. Write your script at the bottom of this file, and press CTRL+S to compile
it.

Follow these steps to insert the code required to set up a hot key to

press insert 0 (on the number row).
press control shift D
You should hear jaws script manage default.jss.
Hit control+end this will take you to the bottom of the file.
Hit enter twice, to insert a couple of blank lines.
paste in the following lines for the script:

Script TogglePunctuation ()
Say (PunctuationToggle (false), ot_no_disable)
EndScript

Place your cursor on the line that says Say (PunctuationToggle (false),
ot_no_disable).
Hit control+d.
Hit tab this will put you on the "can be attached to key" check box, this
should be checked, if it is not hit "space bar" to check it.
Hit tab this will take you to the "synopsis" where you can put in a short
description if you want.
Tab to the "assign short cut key" field and press the keystroke you want
to
use for the script. Such as Control+Shift+P.
Tab to the okay button and enter. This will take you back to the script
editor.
Press control+S to compile your changes.
Press Alt-F4 to close the script editor

I haven't heard of this particular script.

Just to verify, is this a third-party script for which you were
provided with the .jsb file? If so, please make sure you can locate
the file in the following location:
C:\Users\[YourUserDirectory]\AppData\Roaming\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\2019\Settings\enu If you have the .jss and/or .jsh
file, you should probably show it to someone who knows how to read it
to verify that it's not calling on a particular script or function or
something that's been moved around in JAWS 2019.

Hi

I have experienced a problem with the punctuation script since upgrading
from Jaws 2018 to 2019.

Under 2018, the script could be run from anywhere on the system but since
changing to 2019, the only place the script works is when it is run from
the
desktop. If I am in a folder on another drive say, hitting shift control
P,
Jaws says, "unknown script call to".

If I still wish to change the punctuation level then it is a trip back to
the Desktop and try again.
