to compile a jaws script, you must have the
script file loaded and you simply save the script
with any changes with ctrl plus s. to save
without compiling you use ctrl plus w. hope this helps.

I found one way while looking for the option on the ribbons.

Hit alt+q to get into the “tell me what you want to do” screen, and type convert table to text and hit enter.

You will be in the feature to separate the text with tabs or comma, etc.  Make your selection and tab to OK and hit enter.

You now have just the text.

Since it is one column, I am not sure what selection in those options you want, but give it a try.  Just don’t save the document until you are sure you have what you want.

Hello,

I’m using Jaws 2018, windows10 and word 2016. I copied some text from a web site. When I pasted into a word document the text shows in a table that is one column. Is there a way to remove the table and leave the text?

HI Brian,
you have to compile the corresponding script for it to work.
Bear in mind that the resulting .jsb file will hold the compiled copy of
that particular script and is found in the JAWS user directory for the
version under which it was previously compiled.

Hi Brian,

you basically press control+s once you’ve written up your script and wait for the compiler to finish or tell you if there are any errors in line x or argument y or whatever. You can add documentation to each script using control+d, and you can assign a shurtcut to something as well.
But I am no professional scripter by any means.

Okay, I think I figured part of it out. I have to use IE, Firefox and Google Chrome for different tasks. The videos are mostly not shown on the mobile site. When I go to the main site, I can see the videos, but the only thing I can see is the duration of each one. It’s a pain, but I can at least listen to them.

Some of this I can’t help you with, but here are a couple thoughts. The q qhick key takes you straight to the main region, where the principle item on the current page is to be found.  It’s a great time saver.  Also, for finding videos, I would use the b navigation key to see if there any play or pause buttons, and perhaps the c key to find combo boxes which might be used for duration.

I don't know yet how to make JAWS read the item counts automatically. Using 2019, with Details view as my choice, I can use insert+up arrow or insert+tab to get the information, and it is accurate. It might be interesting to try to analyze which settings on the View tab of the ribbon are different if you can't do this with those keystrokes.
