I noticed that The Qube is still in Beta. Have you found any stability problems? I don't know how long it will be until there is a release version, but I may just wait until then to put it on my Windows 7 64-bit system. Gary King w4wkz@bellsouth.net

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>
i don't know about the first one, but to show file extensions or not, go into Control Pannel, then Folder Options. That's in Win7. It'll be slightly different for XP.
Anyway, it's a Windows setting not a jaws one. -------------------------------------------------- CTS MASTERING: PROFESSIONAL MIXING AND MASTERING! Re: Reading comments with a document

There is another way to review comments that can be done without having to
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
read them while reading the main text. If you press control-shift-apostrophe JAWS will pull up a list of all the comments in your document and you can easily navigate to each location by hitting enter. For brief comments, you can read them in the list. If you prefer to display all the comments separately, you can use the virtual viewer by pressing "windows key-semicolon" and select comments to be displayed. With that, all the comments come up in a virtual document so you can read through them, copy and paste into a word documents, whatever you want to do. Just a couple of other useful comments strategies I use. copuple

Hello,
This is kind of a novice question, but for the life of me I can't find where I do these things: I would like Jaws to only speak labeled graphics. I also want Jaws to show all file extenchans. How do I do the above? Thanks, Brandon Keith Biggs

Clicking on Popups?
Brandon Keith Biggs <brandonboy13@...>
Hello,
I have a popup in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I go into the Jaws curser and I can read it, but I can't click on anything. I start to arrow through what I see in the Jaws curser by word and when it gets to where the pop-up is I see blank. Is there some way to find the popup? Thanks, Brandon Keith Biggs

Thus far the only problem I have with it is that when you log in and you hear the word home you must press control windows home to get to the top of your list of current tweets before the new ones are retrieved. Otherwise you have to hunt for where you last left off. HTH Dan

Re: Reading comments with a document
Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>
Ann:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Just finished editing a document with 11 comments. Here is what I do. First, use Jaws key plus v. If you are using Jaws 13, type "comment" in the search box. Otherwise, arrow down until you hit the comments reading option. Tell jaws to read the comments as you come to them. Now, when you use the control plus shift plus apostrophe, arrow to the comment you want. Then tab to OK. Once you hit OK, you will be at the comment. Use your arrow keys to move back one space and then forward one space. Jaws will read the comment. In fact, if you just want to arrow through the document, Jaws will read the comment when you come to it. Another way to jump to the next comment is to use so-called quick keys. Use Jaws key plus z to turn on quick keys (they are like the quick keys on the Web with HTML documents or PDF documents). Then, you can jump to comments with the letter "n." I know "n" is not exactly intuitive, but that is it. You jump to revisions with "r," and that works pretty well. Remember to turn of quick keys with Jaws key plus z when you want to make edits. There is a way to jump to the next comment inside Word. In fact, I've created a Word hot key to do that, alt plus shift plus r, but that doesn't work all that well with comments. Somehow this puts Jaws inside the comment, and Jaws behaves very, very badly inside comments. I hope this helps.

without interference from JAWS. They are familiar with screen readers there. I used to have, and probably still have, a registry file they sent me to ensure that JAWS didn't interfere with recordings, and another one to keep window-Eyes out of the loop. If need be I can pass them on to you, but since they worked under XP, I hesitate to apply them to a win 7 system. Dean

Reading a PDF with OpenBook
Ann Byrne
Open the document with Adobe. Whether JAWS reads it or tells you "Alert, empty document" you can send it to OpenBook. In Adobe Reader, press alt-f to get to the files menu and arrow down to print. (Probably ctrl-p would give you the print menu, actually.) Tab to the choice of printers and select Freedom Import Printer. Press enter (possibly twice) and OpenBook will wake up and analyze the document.
