Hi James,

Press JAWSKey+V for Quick Settings, and move to and open "Reading Options". In there, adjust the following:

1. Uncheck "Message Header Field With Message Announcement"
2. Check "Messages Automatically Read"

Then ENTER to close the dialog.

In JFW 15 with Outlook 2007, I use to be able to have an opened message begin automatically start reading but not its subject line, just the message body.  I don’t need the subject line re-read because I already know it from the message’s preview in Outlook’s list box as I scroll down my inbox.  Now, with JFW 2019 and Outlook 2016 the message’s subject line reads after I open it as JFW begins to read the message’s body.  How can I stop the message’s subject line from reading?

Some hot keys in the keyboard manager have the user pressed a modifier key plus the space bar then a letter. Is it possible for you to change these hot keys? If so, how do you assign that kind of a hockey without having jaws just recognize two buttons you push? For example  Whenever I try to assign a function to the  hot key shift plus space bar plus  the letter k, jaws only records shift and the space bar. But, I want to assign a function to shift plus the space bar than the press of a letter.   I think these  are called double layer hot keys. But I’m not sure. Thank you for anyone who can help

I have apparently done something that is causing JAWS to read markers in my Word documents.  for example, it now says “space marker” between words and “paragraph marker” between paragraphs.

How do I change it back to not saying these things and what did I do to make the change?

I thought OCR was just for PDF documents.  The receipt I am talking about is not a PDF file, it is an e-mail message.  When I tried to open up OCR JAWS wouldn’t start.

I get the occasional invoice from a supplier where this is the case. Just use Jaws OCR and  you should be fine.

Dear Listers:

Safeway supermarket delivers my groceries.  Before each delivery, they send me an e-mail receipt.  JAWS will read the part of the receipt that lists the time of day and the order number, but it will not read the receipt itself.  Have any of you had this experience with Safeway, and did you get JAWS to read the receipt?  If so, how?

At work, I have Office 2016, not Office 365 and Jaws 2018 or 2019 depending on which I need.
At home, when I press insert Page Down, I hear the page number, and even which line I'm on.
At work I just get the page count.
I recall something being said that one could change to fix this, but I cannot find or remember it.
Any help would be appreciated.

yes, GW is maximized. unloading and reloading JAWS did work and I'm 
hoping it won't revert to not speaking when arrowing in dialogs.

do you know how to maximize the child window, or if it's really necessary?

any other settings to tweak that will be beneficial to using a screen 
reader?

hmmm. that fixed the problem for me, did you restart jaws and goldwave.
sometimes that sort of resets everything.also is gw maximized?

go to the view menue "alt v". make sure the scroll lock is checked by
pressing enter on it. this should fix the problem.
