While on the web page, press alt+v, then c; arrow down past the search box and press enter on open.

If you want to create .html code, open your document in notepad and fill in controls from there.

Good luck!

Subject: Accessing html source code with JAWS

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I have not had the need to look at html source code in an extremely long time and now find the need again. I went to the view menu in Internet Explorer and entered on source and JAWS went silent. Am I doing something wrong? Can you not access the source code with JAWS in IE anymore? If not what is an alternative route to take.

Thanks
Joe

JAWS 2019 Beta 3, J2019.1810.35.400 Download Link + What's New

Mike B. <mike9902@...>

Hi All,

Below is the direct download link for both 32 & 64 bit systems + what's new in this release.

32 & 64 Bit:

What's new in this release:

The following is a list of improvements made between Public Beta 2 and Public Beta 3. Note that while many customer-reported enhancements are included
in this release, the following is a list of more notable changes.

Help Improve Freedom Scientific Products

JAWS 2019 includes a new option which allows us to collect anonymous usage information that is generated as you use the software for your daily tasks.
This data helps us continue to make improvements as well as more easily locate and address problems. Collected data includes JAWS version, operating system
version, language, country, as well as information on various JAWS settings such as the current synthesizer, braille display, and braille table.

If you choose to participate, no spoken or braille content is collected and no data is shared with any parties outside of Freedom Scientific. The data
we collect strictly helps us better understand how our software is being used in the field so we can quickly make enhancements to features being used the
most by our customers. If you choose not to participate, then no usage data is collected and transmitted.

You can change your selection at any time by doing the following:

list of 4 items
1. Press INSERT+6 on the number row to open Settings Center and press CTRL+SHIFT+D to load the default settings file.
2. Navigate to Miscellaneous in the tree view and press RIGHT ARROW to expand the group.
3. Use the SPACEBAR to select or clear the "Submit Anonymous Usage Data" check box.
4. Press ENTER to save your change and close Settings Center.
list end

You can also choose whether or not to participate in this program through the Startup Wizard located in the JAWS Help menu.

Other Changes
list of 12 items
• In response to customer feedback, JAWS now supports grade 1 literary braille input for languages such as English that offer more than one type of braille
output. For example, if you open the Braille Translation group in Settings Center and set the output to Unified English Braille Grade 1, you will now be
able to choose between computer braille or Unified English Braille Grade 1 for input.
• Resolved an issue where Vocalizer Expressive voices installed with certain languages were being removed during a JAWS uninstall.
• Resolved a reported issue where the wrong help message was being displayed for the "When pausing during character navigation, speak character phonetically"
option in Settings Center.
• Resolved an issue in Microsoft Office with content not being properly aligned in braille when using a language such as Hebrew that displays text using
right-to-left.
• Resolved a customer reported issue where page breaks in Word documents were not being announced by JAWS.
• Addressed a reported issue where Microsoft Word would sometimes close unexpectedly when attempting to edit after spell checking a document.
• In the Windows 10 calculator, resolved an issue where the result was not being spoken automatically.
• A customer using Java SwingSet reported that after restarting JAWS, text was no longer read correctly. This has been resolved.
• Addressed a reported issue where a Say All (INSERT+DOWN ARROW) was not working as expected in a Citrix published desktop after locking the client system.
• If Braille Mode is turned off in Google Docs, resolved an issue where the BACKSPACE key was not deleting text as expected.
• Addressed a customer reported issue with JAWS not reading the ampersand character in Firefox.
• Addressed several localization issues with Russian and Hebrew.
list end
Take care.  Mike.  Go Dodgers!

Hi Joe,

Others may comment on the accessibility of VPN software, but with many VPN providers, it’s not necessary to use a client at all.  You can simply enter in the various usernames, passwords and server settings manually into Windows itself.  While it’s not for everyone, it’s no more complicated than configuring an email address manually in say Outlook, and you obviously have a wider range of providers (any that publish the necessary server addresses) as you aren’t restricted by the accessibility of their software.

I use Hide My Ass and like it, I have no idea bout the accessibility of its software though.

Having said that are there any accessible VPNs that anyone would recommend a friend of mine uses Express VPN however, he is not visually impaired so I have no idea about that particular one or not. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can do that. You would need to close the most current version of JAWS and open JAWS 18. When I have needed to do this I have made sure I have selected the version of JAWS I want on the desk top, shut down most current version of JAWS and hit enter to open the older version.

Believe it or not you can use the MCT and update a Win 7, Win 8x to a genuine digital entitlement for that machine.

In other words the license servers are currently still automatically authorizing.

This is not the case should you try to use the GWX tool that annoyed so many way back when. Running this you will not be able to complete the upgrade.

I have most recently, three weeks, done this with a Win Seven Pro desktop and Win Seven home laptop, using the media creation tool and running the update.

That's very interesting! I've certainly noticed some odd behavior with Braille and Jaws with Office 2016 and Win 10. But my display still shows me the formula of a cell in Excel. The amount in cell p6, calculated by a formula, is 101188. JAWS speaks this clearly, saying "101188, has formula." The Braille display, however, displays only "has formula". If I have JAWS set to speak cell contents and coordinates, p6 says "p 6", but not the content of the cell . Turning off the coordinates gives me 'has formula'. How do I make the display show me the stinkin' 101188 in the cell???

Tandem

David Pearson

Hello list:

Is it true that when trying to use the Jaws "Tandem feature that the Jaws version of the controlled pc must be equal to, or lower than the version installed/used on the controlling pc?

I ask because yesterday, I was going to try Tandem with someone who had Jaws version18, and my(controlled) pc has latest version although v18 still appears as one of the programs listed under my start/Jaws menu key.

This being the case, couldn't I enter on my 18 version and use this to enable the Tandem feature?

If so, I need the step-by-step procedure to accomplish this. I can only type with right hand, so would like to keep simultaneous key presses to a minimum.

Sincerely yours,

David S.Pearson

I do agree that we will have to move to Excel 2016 sooner rather than later. So, it sounds like they have moved things from the context menu into the ribbon.

Well, he will have to learn where to find it or remember the shortcut keys, column width is Alt+H followed by O and W
Also, I believe there are ways to add things to the context menu with various ttweaks, you'd have to Google this, but I'm almost certain I read there is a way to add things to the context menu.
I found it took a bit to get used to Office 2013 and later 2016 which isn't so different, but it was quite a change from Office 2010, but you can't stay on 2010 forever so one might as well deal with it.

He uses Excel, Outlook, and Word primarily. The ribbon is in Excel 2010. He reports the column width is no longer in the context menu in Excel 2016.

What other applications do you or your employee need to use? If it's primarily Office then upgrading to Windows 10 is fine, it is very stabil and Office works well.
I know you mentioned he can't change the width of columns and so on, if he came from Excel 2010, are you sure he knows how to do it, if I remember correctly, didn't Excel 2010 still use menus or di dit have ribbon menus already?
If he has to use older applications and if he uses the Jaws cursor a lot there is a good chance he will lose that in Windows 10.

I will attempt an Office repair. As for Windows 10, do others find better Jaws 2018/Excel 2016(Office 365) stability under Windows 10 rather than Windows 7? Are there any adjustments that I can make in Jaws or Excel to make them work better under Windows 7?

Thank you,

Hi List,

One of my executives is having quite a few issues with Jaws 2018 and Office 365 Excel 2016, the latest build of both under Windows 7. So much so that I have installed excel 2010 on his computer in order for him to get work done. He is reporting the following issues. Jaws becomes silent when saving files, formulas aren’t read to him, he will lose an hour of work randomly, he can’t widen columns, add new sheets, rename sheets, etc. All of these things and others I may not have mentioned he can do in Excel 2010. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Brian

Then the work around is to update the Win 7 box, and then roll back to Win 7 for as long as you want to continue using 7.

The machine will still be eligible for the digital entitlement when you are ready for 10 again.

Pain in the neck but not sure how else to make it work. I did not note the changes so I cannot answer your question directly.
