Jaws+UpArrow also reads the current line.
However, I'm guessing Morey is wanting to know the line number rather than read the text on the current line.

Hello user, to know what current line you’re on, press your jaws key plus the number two on your number pad. Hope this helps by the way, if you want to know anything about keystrokes, press JAWS ke plus one. This will get you in to help. Then, you can press in a keystroke combination you would like. Jars will usually say what that combination does. Press the combination twice quickly to get more information.

Hi all.

Using w1803 and Jaws 2019.

If I sitting on a web page, or even in a open document, is there still a keystroke to tell me on which line I am sitting?

I know using the alt/delete key will tell me by Pixels. Using this
method, I go up into the top left corner of document and it says, (1
1). If I then go down a line it says, meaning the alt/delete key, says
(1 2)

Would I then presume that the numbers would mean the larger number when going down would be the line number??

What ya think?

Thanks,

Morey Worthington

According to someone else experiencing this issue who has been in correspondence with VFO about it (they never contacted me about my bug report), there will be an update rolled out for jAWS 2018 to fix this.

Really, JAWS 2019 Beta; although I use JAWS 2018 and Firefox 62, there is a serious issue with JFW that causes Firefox to freeze up frequently and need to be restarted with task manager.

[Edited Message Follows]

Okay, my kids both have Dell laptops and predominately use NVDA because Jaws hates their school's website.  Anyways they need to take an online test on another website and all Jaws is speaking is the keys we hit - it won't read any webpage.  I know this has to be something completely stupid, but I need to get this sorted out for them to take this test.... ugh.  We are all more familiar with NVDA and not Jaws which we obviously need to balance out but the kids prefer NVDA as they have no issue's with it.

Oh, Jaws and Firefox on updated versions.

When we open Firefox we are getting "Display of tab content is disabled due to incompatibility between Firefox and your accessibility software. Please update your screen reader or switch to Firefox Extended Support Release." - But I thought all this was ironed out with Jaws and that crazy version recently.

Thank you!

Re: Using Macrium Reflect Version 7 to Take A Full System Image Backup

It has been brought to my attention that one, and only one, dialog during the installation of Macrium Reflect, Version 7, has accessibility issues unless you use one of the various screen readers' alternate cursor methods.  Two members of the Windows 10 for Screen Reader Users group have been kind enough to put together instructions for dealing with this dialog in each of the three major screen readers:  JAWS, Narrator, and NVDA.

Dealing with the License Key Dialog of Macrium Reflect, Version 7, with a Screen Reader

JAWS
, from David Bailes:

JAWS users can use either the Jaws cursor, or the touch cursor, which is the Jaws equivalent of object navigation.
Using the touch cursor:
1. Starting with the next button being the focus.
2. Switch to using the touch cursor (shift + numpad plus, using the desktop layout).
3. Press either left arrow twice or shift+tab twice to move to the home radio button.
4. Press spacebar or enter to select the radio button, and move the focus to it.
5. Switch back to the pc cursor (numpad plus twice quickly, using the desktop layout).
6. Tab to the next button and press it.

Narrator
and NVDA, by Timothy Wynn:

Both sets of instructions presume you are in the License Key dialog with focus on the Next button

Narrator
:
1) Enable Narrator if not already running.
2) Use Narrator+Left-arrow to move to the previous item. Narrator will say "non-selected, Commercial, radio-button".
3) Use Narrator+Left-arrow to move to the previous item once more. Narrator will say "non-selected, Home, radio-button".
4) Use Narrator+Enter to do the primary action. On Windows 10 Version 1709, there is no response heard when performing this action, but use the next item (Narrator+Right-arrow) and previous item (Narrator+Left-arrow) commands to confirm. Narrator will say non-selected, Commercial, radio-button", followed by "selected, Home, radio-button"".

NVDA:
1) Start NVDA if not already running.
2) Use the move to previous object command. NVDA will say "This is My Group button".
3) Use the move to first contained object command. NVDA will say "Home radio button not checked".
4) Use the activate current navigator object command. NVDA will say "Check", followed by "This is My Group button", and finally "Home radio button checked".
5) Tab to and activate the Next button, and you should now be on the Registration screen.

Subject: Forgot a basic..I think

Hi all.

Using w1803 and Jaws 2019.

If I sitting on a web page, or even in a open document, is there still a keystroke to tell me on which line I am sitting?

I know using the alt/delete key will tell me by Pixels. Using this method, I go up into the top left corner of document and it says, (1 1). If I then go down a line it says, meaning the alt/delete key, says (1 2)

Would I then presume that the numbers would mean the larger number when going down would be the line number??

What ya think?

Thanks,

Morey Worthington

Insert plus up arrow, the number 8 on the keypad, reads the line. Insert plus numpad 2 launches say all. The original question was ascertaining the line number, and I can't find a way to do this.

Re: Jaws and Firefox issue - only speaking commands not reading website

I'm new here so I can't be certain this has not already been addressed, but I often (kind of) "reset" JAWS by clicking Windows key + D, which takes you to the desktop. I then Tab back into Firefox or where ever I was and start over again. I feel like JAWS sometimes gets lost as to what window or cursor a user might be in at the moment when under heavy use.

Strangely enough, mine is reading the autofill addresses when entering part of an address in a new Outlook 2016 message.  I’m using Office 365.

Is anyone finding that when you type a new message in Microsoft Outlook 2016, it doesn’t read the auto complete section on the to box to tell you which address is suggested?

Where I work, we use "workday". It does all you asked and much more. It's accessiable enough if you have patients.

Thanks,

IMPORTANT!! - External Content - Please use caution.

I work for two companies. One uses Paycom, which works well. The other is called PayReel, and it is very simple and user friendly.
PayCom is more of an HRIS solution that covers a wide range of company needs. PayReel's time sheet functionality is very good.

We do not request time off through this system; I’m not sure if that is a feature Kronos offers.

Do any of you know of a time sheet management system appropriate for a
company with several hundred employees that is screen reader friendly?

Employees would need to be able to enter their time, request time off,
edit their time, and perform other related functions.
