can't hear jaws when I get a skipe call
paul lemm
Hi,
So I’ve recently installed the latest version of skipe onto my PC, but when I get a skipe call come through I can’t hear Jaws any longer to be able to answer the call. It seems like the volume of jaws is lowering when the skipe call comes through. Does anyone have or know of a solution to this? Also on a similar note, to answer an incoming skipe call I usually use jaws key and f11 to view everything in my system tray, then scroll down to skipe click that and then from the skipe dropdown menu which appears I select answer call, is there a quicker way to answer a call, maybe a key combination/shortcut I’m not aware of?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Paul

Re: Jaws check for updates
I don't know why it focuses for you but not for me and Don, I just tried again while focus was on the desktop, I pressed Jaws Key+J, arrowed up to Help and then expanded it and arrowed to Check for Updates. After pressing enter it took a few seconds and I heard a ding, my focus remained on the desktop and when I pressed Alt+Tab the OK button of the Jaws update dialogue gained focus:

Re: Jaws check for updates
Hi Don,
I just tried this and while I currently have no updates I did have to press Alt+Tab to get to the dialogue with the message I was up to date and the OK button. I suggest you provide this feedback to Freedom Scientific, it could be more a result of how Windows 10 does things, but it certainly won't hurt for them to take a look at it and, if it is a bug they can do something about then hopefully it will be fixed in a future update. I am on the Jaws beta list and will provide this feedback as well, but you should as well via the JAWS for Windows Beta Report Form, clicking on this link takes you straight there.
Regards, Sieghard

When I open the Jaws 2018 or 2019 beta ui and go to help then check for updates Jaws presents a dialog that jaws will not read until you do a couple of alt tabs to get focus on the dialog box. Why doesn't Jaws automatically read dialog boxes it creates?

Re: Installing windows10
When I download the Media Creation Tool and then run the executable I get a message like “Getting a few things read”, then after a bit it comes up with the software license agreement which of course you have to agree to. Then it again says “Getting a few things ready” and then after another 10 or 20 seconds I am presented with the following options:
What do you want to do? Upgrade this PC now radio button checked 1 of 2 Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC radio button checked 2 of 2 Back Button Alt+B Next Button alt+N
By default you land on “Upgrade this PC Now”, but if you down arrow you get to the other radio button, then just press Alt+N for Next and you will be asked what media you want to use, e.g. a USB Drive, make an ISO file or make a DVD. I haven’t had a DVD drive on a computer for years but I assume that if you do and you have a writeable DVD in it then you can select this drive and it wil then download Windows 10 and create the DVD.

I updated to the fall build of Windows 10 (actually, I did a full install), and, I had the same result you did with Adobe Reader DC. It now goes to 100 per cent reading that document. I'll try it with some others too. Weird how that one thing fixed it. Thanks again for the tip.

I have not used any of these talking Windows PE ISOs, but I have no reason whatsoever to believe they would not work. The correct one for your system could be downloaded on its own, and then you could just download the Macrium Reflect software without Windows PE. You would still need to create the Macrium recovery media, which should then use the talking Windows PE to build it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back
