Thanks a lot for your suggestions. Will follow the steps. I have the following additional concerns. 1. If I change the view in my system, will the view change for others as well? 2. Are the features in Basic HTML view lesser as compared to Standard View? Best Turab

Re: audacity and jaws
Audacity is as easy to use as any complex software can be with JAWS. It seems to be the audio editor of choice for many screen reader users.
And, yes, there is a built-in filter that allows you to slow down music without the pitch changing. I had to do that for someone I was helping to put together the music and other audio for a dressage routine. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Re: jaws video card and dvd wmp
HH. Smith Jr.
Hi, I rarely turn on or plug in my monitor. The only time I use my monitor is when I am repairing or working on a computer that won’t boot up its’ operating system or when someone is looking over my shoulder at the screen. When my monitor is on I have a tendency of trying to follow the cursor as it moves across the screen and that gives me a tremendous headache. It is a bad habit and I can’t seem to stop it so I keep the screen turned off until required to turn it on. To answer the second question, JAWS intercepts the video signal before it gets to the monitor. I am pretty sure I’m correct on this, but open for correction.

Hi, if your office uses gmail for the Communication, do the following.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. login with the gmail using your credentials. 2. once you login, the screen reader may announce loading gmail…. 3. press letter b key. 4. the screen reader should announce load basic html button, now just activate the button by pressing space or enter key. 5. now you can view your gmail with basic html. if you want to set this as default view, go to the links list and press letter s until your screen reader says set as default view, and activate the link.

• JAWS will now unmute your sound card automatically. In addition to refreshing the screen, pressing INSERT+ESC now also checks the sound device being used by JAWS or Fusion to make sure it is not currently muted or has the sound level set to 0 percent. If muted, it will be unmuted. Or, if the sound level somehow got set to 0 percent, this new feature will raise it to 50 percent, allowing you to recover without getting assistance. The sound device is also checked every time JAWS or Fusion is restarted. If you purposely muted JAWS speech, there is not an issue as this new feature only looks at the Windows setting for the sound card, not the JAWS speech settings. That was from the What's new in Jaws 2018. Richard

For JAWS, open Jaws, hit alt-h for help arrow to "About Jaws" hit a and let Jaws read what's there. The nnumber of upgrads left is at the bottom. At least, that's how i check.

I assume you've tried, and copy and paste doesn't work. Anyway, here's a snippet from the JAWS help file:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Drag and Drop (CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH) This command is used to drag items from one location and drop them in another. Position the JAWS Cursor on the item you wish to move and press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH. You can leave the JAWS Cursor active, or you can switch to the PC Cursor. JAWS will keep speaking as you navigate. Once you have positioned the JAWS or PC Cursor in the location to which you would like to move the item, press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH again, and the item will be moved to the position of the active cursor. Re: I forgot how to do something
Dean Martineau <topdot@...>
The showing of format markers is an optional Word feature. Mostly, it is undesirable to show them.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
There are two ways to toggle the showing of these format markers. The keystroke ctrl+shift+8 on the number row toggles them all on and off. I think when this gets turned on accidentally, the user may have pressed this keystroke by mistake. Press it again and see if that solves the problem. The other way is to go into Word options with alt+f, t. You then have a list of possible categories. Display is the first, so tab to change those settings. Each of the individual format indicator has its own check box, so tab through the page and ensure that each is set the way you want it. Dean Thought-provoking reading: http://bahaiteachings.org
