Re: saving attachments in Thunderbird

Thanks to those who replied to my query about saving attachments in Thunderbird.
The problem at my end maybe being caused by the remaining attachment extractor add-on although it no longer works. I’ll go into the add-on section and try to remove it.

In Ourtlook for me it does almost the same, a say line also speaks the number of the message I am on, just now when I did a say line it read your message, sender, subject etc. and then at the end it said “13 of 15”. The only difference with Jaws+Tab is that is says “List box” before it starts speaking your name, the subject and all that.

Under Outlook 2013, all I get when pressing insert numpad page down is Jaws saying something about filter applied. Pressing insert Tab does give the number of the current message as well as the total number of messages. Maybe Outlook 13 works differently from version 16.

hi, go to your desktop and hit the applications key. then go into properties then tab over to device manager. enter that tab once more hit "N" for network adaptors. see what cards you have installed. if you don't see "wi fi mini port adapter or something to do with dwxxx802.... depending on your computer." then try doing a "scan for hardware changes" that may bring up the missing devices. goodluck

I have found very few sites where it would not work. Another thing you can do is start logging into a website. When you get to the password field, assuming 1Password is not open already, go to the system tray and arrow down to 1Password. Hit enter. You should be given the option to generate a password. It generates it and puts it on the clipboard. You could then manually create a login record in 1Password and include the new password.

JAWS and MS Edge
dramartinez@...
Good morning, I am a brand new subscriber. I have a question concerning reading Websites in MS Edge. When arrowing up and down through Web pages, JAWS says things like "column 1 row 1" and then reads the content of that cell(?). Or when entering a list it will announce "list with 3 items" (or something along those lines, and then proceed to give you information about links and whatnot in that list. I find this very cumbersome and would like to know if there is any way to stop those kinds of announcements. I have already gone through "verbosity" and set everything to advanced or to ignore table headings and such. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
P.S., I have been a JAWS user since JAWS 1.X.

Hello folks, I’m looking for a Jaws friendly file splitter where you can tell it to split files based on contents. I’m not looking for a file splitter to split files into smaller pieces for transmitting. I need to pull out specific records in a file based on the contents within the file. a command line version would be best.

Tom,
Are you using your iPhone, Windows, or other? I use it on my iPhone and also with Firefox and Chrome on Windows. I’ll say a couple of things about using Windows, then I can add more once I’m sure what platform you are using.
I go to a new web page where I want to create a login. I fill in a user name and password. If I hit the Login button, it should invoke the mini version of 1Password. If necessary, 1Password will ask you to enter the 1Password password.(Sorry for that strange statement) It should ask if you want to save this login, and it will suggest a name for it. You should then get a button that says Save or something similar to that.
Another way to invoke the mini 1Password on a website is control-alt-backslash.
To open sites I’ve already set up in 1Password, I go to the full program. You can search for a site or arrow down through them. Hitting enter on one should start the login process.

For thelife of me, I can’t figure out 1password. Can somebody give a quick step by step overview? I am trying to use the Chrome extension. Once I fill out the username and password, I open the 1password menu from the toolbar, where I get a suggestion. For the sake of this example, I went to Applevis.com I don’t know how to save this suggestion. When I’m looking at the 1password help, it says login first, then save your login from 1password, but I can’t find a save option there. What am I doing wrong? Given the features of 1password, I would like to make it work if possible, but not at the expense of running extra circles. I could just type it up on my iPhone but that defeats the purpose. Re: saving attachments in Thunderbird
ALT + M, H will get you to the attachments "processing" menu for a message.
I have noticed that JAWS reads the number of options for this menu inaccurately, as it does for any menu with dividers used in it. In any case, one can choose to save attachments one by one or use the option to save all attachments. If one chooses the latter, they will all be saved in a single folder and then it's up to you to move things around afterward with File Explorer if you don't want them to be permanently stored in that single folder. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Hi,
Using: Jaws 2018, W10 Home and latest Thunderbird
Can someone please explain how to save an attachment in Thunderbird?
For years I have used a Thunderbird add-on, attachment extractor, with great success but unfortunately the latest version of Tbird has broken the add-on so am now back to doing it manually.
The latest version of the add-on is dated around 2011 so it appears the author does not intend to upgrade it further. This means that I need to learn how to do the deed the hard way.
There is an attachment option under the Thunderbird “message” menu but not always is it available. If the message is closed then it is not available. If the message with the attachment is open, the option is available but I can’t seem to get consistent results.
Any comments?
Thanks Tom
