Did this happen before or after the system restore you mentioned
earlier. You may need to reinstall the drivers that came with the
device--just a thought.

Re: Help with jaws settings

Dondi

Hi Lori,

If you read through this procedure it will show you the option to silence
the keyboard. Just set the typing echo to off.

To silence the keyboard as you type the keys and have JAWS read the word
just typed when the space bar is pressed to go to the next word.

Insert+6 to open setting center.
Press control+shift+D to select the all applications default file to modify.
Type echo in the search edit box.
Arrow down to typing echo.
You should also hear a modifier spoken at the same time as typing echo.
Press space bar to cycle through the modifying choices for typing echo.
They are as follows:
1. Off. - The keyboard is silent.
2. Characters. - Every key is announced when pressed.
3. Words. - keyboard is silent, words are spoken after space bar is pressed.
4. Characters and words. - Every character and word is spoken.
Tab to apply and press space bar.
Alt+F4 to close setting center.

Dondi

Hello, Colleen. I gather you are running windows 7. I don't know if Word
2003 will work on it or not, but one question is, what do you need to
achieve with Word? There is a free word processor called Jarte that lets
you do what most of us need to do withWord, so that might be a solution for
you. There's even a paid version, $20 or so, that gives it more capability.

A question about installing windows xp.

Hyongsop Kim

Hello, I have a question about Windows Xp and drive letter.

I have a hard disk and is divided two partitions, c and d.

Recently, I did format c and d drives and installed xp again.

Until the installing is finished, I didn’t mind any issue, but once installed, I realized that the windows is installed on d drive, not c.

But because I had to start work fast, I installed programs that I need with keeping this status.

But now, if possible, I want tomake that let the windows installed drive as a c drive, and I can use d drive as only saves my data.

How to solve this problem?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Hyongsop Kim.

Any suggestions for improving the guide are welcome,

You're mixing up a lot of things here.

Office XP Pro is a non-sequitor. I suspect you mean you used to have
Office
2003?

The reading pane is specific to Outlook such as Outlook 2003 and
Outlook
2010. It is not part of the Office 2010 suite like Word or Excel.

So which do you actually have?

Which Operating System do you have? XP or Windows 7?

Exactly what program do you need help with? Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Outlook?

Look at the www.freedomscientific.com web site, on the training page.
There
are materials there on how to get around in the new ribbon, which I
suspect
is part of your concern. But then again it's really not clear from what
you're providing.

I've written a guide to Windows Live Mail 2011. It includes a detailed description of how to use the ribbons in this program using either the standard windows keystrokes or the Jaws virtual ribbon. It's available here:

Any suggestions for improving the guide are welcome,
David.

Header reading in excel

Bissett, Tom <tom.bissett@...>

Using jaws 12 I am trying to find where I can modify the voice used when jaws is reading column and row headers. By default it uses I think rocko and I would like to just he normal voice.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

To change typing echo temporarily, press insert and 2 on the numbers row (not the numbpad) to toggle through the options. To change it permanently go to the settings center under user and set it there.

Hi, I want to set Jaws so it doesn't speak letters or keys as I press them, will try what you suggested. Thanks from Lori.

Hello, do you want *any key echo? I ask because if not, all you have to do
is go to advanced verbosity but if you do, I'll give you a step by step set
of instructions.

Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't
want to impress people they don't like

Hi everyone, I'm trying to seeup my jaws 13 to not speak letters or keys
like tab or spacebar, also I'd like typing interupt to be turned off. I
went through the merge utility and it seems to have worked for the sound
volume but nothing else for some reason. Hope someone can help. Thanks from
Lori.
