IE versus Firefox
Mike & Barbara In Arcadia <mb69mach1@...>
Hi All,
When I am using IE & type in a URL, I only have to type, www.jaws-users.com, but, when I am running Firefox, I have to type, http://www.jaws-users.com. Can anyone tell me if there is something I can check or uncheck in Firefox that will put in the http:// for me automatically like IE does? All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care. Mike -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Re: [Bulk] IE 9
Tony
Hi Peter
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Since installing the latest JFW, IE9 would hang, and sometimes crash. Edit fields such as may be found on m.facebook.com wouldn't work in some cases. When in forms mode, it was not possible to review the contents of these fields using the arrow keys. Also, in certain cases, combo boxes would not read whilst in forms mode. Jaws would sit mute as the combo box was scrolled, yet exiting forms mode and reviewing the combo box would reveal the selection made. On certain occasions, JAWS would refuse to read the IE8 window in its entirety, stubbornly saying blank. Finally, I'd get an out of memory error after a browsing session when opening windows explorer in certain situations, strange as I have 8GB of RAM on board. I've given up, and having reverted back to IE8, all seems fine again. It could be my machine of course, but I do all the investigative stuff at work in the week, I simply can't be bothered to take it up at home too. I'm mindful that I may be doing JAWS a disservice. T

Hi Dan,

To prevent Webvisum from running when you open Firefox, do the following; 1. From the Firefox home page press Alt + T, for tools, & press the letter W, for Webvisum sub menu. 2. Arrow down to preferences & press enter 3. When preferences opens you will be on the General page. Tab 3 times to the , Automatic Log-in on startup, checkbox & press the spacebar to uncheck this box. 4. Tab to okay, press enter to save your changes, close, & take you back to the home page. The Verbose Notifications checkbox that Steve spoke of is also in the General page, right before the okay button. Hope this has helped. Take care. Mike

Re: Firefox
Steve <k8sp@...>
Other than that dialog, it doesn't do anything, it is totally in the background. I guess you can disable it under the add-on menu, but once you hear the two-second blurb that you are logged in, it doesn't do anything else. It doesn't slow down the browsing experience or anything.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If you want, go into the tools menu, look for the webvisum submenu, and you can disable Webvisum from starting when you launch Firefox. Also, you can turn the notification verbose checkbox to unchecked which will cut back on what Webvisum tells you. Take my advice, I don't use it anyway. Steve Lansing, MI
