No, it won’t because there is no actual text in the window.

What if you tried virtualizing the window with Alt+JawsKey+W?  Would it read better that way?

Hi, Jessica. Yes, it is accessible, and I use it infrequently. Since, when you load the News app, your configuration with JAWS defaults to using the Touch Cursor, just TAB, and it will read the whole news article to you. There isn’t much of a way, however to go back and review sections of the article.

I find that if I have read an article with the News app, the best way to review it is with JAWS History (INSERT plus SPACE, followed by H. Then arrow up and down through the history to reread the news article as a text file.

Yes, you can, if you use up and down arrows to select the text you wish to copy, then CONTROL plus C to copy that into the clipboard. Then open up Word, or a text editor, and paste the text you copied to the clipboard into the resulting document.

How can I interact with that announcement? It does not stay on the screen long enough for me to do anything with it.

On the view ribbon, tab to the checkbox that says “Show as conversations” and hit spacebar.  Then, go back to the view ribbon and tab until the arrangement group and the “reverse sort” button. Hit enter on that button to reverse the current order, which I assume is currently by date, but with the oldest at the top.

Table headers in Word documents

Van Lant, Robin

It is a nice feature that JAWS automatically reads the column headers in a table in Word while tabbing from cell to cell.  There are times, however, when the column headers are long and make this a tedious way when I just want to hear the cell contents.  Is there a way to turn this off on the fly for such cases?
