Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] Problems upgrading Jaws

Dave...

Lori,

No need to upgrade to JAWS 13 to use iTunes. There are much better scripts
than the ones provided by FS with JAWS. Google Blind Tunes and you'll find
free scripts developed by John Martin from this list. They work very well
even up to the latest iTunes release.

I just rang my supplyer and they say I need a new number and a new upgrade
to 13, so it means I'll have to pay more money just so I can use the latest
version of Itunes properly. Still I suppose it's worth it in the long run.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Hi I'm upgrading from Jaws 11 to 13, but when I run the activation

authorisation code was for an older version. I've checked my serial

going wrong. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks from Lori.

Accessible Epub to Kindle Converter

Chris Smart <csmart8@...>

Does anyone know of an accessible converter to go from epub format to the format used by the Kindle?
I've tried the recommended and free program Calibre, but it appears to be inaccessible.

thanks for any suggestions,

doesn't work with it properly. I had a look a wordpress.com but it

or maybe on another site where jaws and all the funktions works

Encourage them to download and install either a demo of the commercial screen readers or one of the free ones, particularly NVDA. Encourage them to use it for their testing and development. I do this with all software companies. I get a mixed reaction. Some are more willing than others, some are even shocked a blind person is interested in their software lol! Seriously though, the more you do this to more companies the much likely they will realize how important accessibility is. Good luck.

Subject: Adding links on blogger.com

Hi all firstly I use windows 7 ultimate, internet explorer 9 and jaws
13. I'm trying to insert links in my posts on blogger.com.
The way to do this is to highlight the text you want to turn in to the
link and then to click on the link button and type the URL. With jaws I
highlight the text with shift + arrows, then I arrow up to where the
link button is, I then route jaws to pc with jaws key + numpad -, then
left click with numpad /. I then enter the URL and test the link, after
I see that it works I press ok. It enters the link but the problem is it
enters the link in the first line of the post no matter where the
highlighted text was. In the help files it also says you can highlight
the text then press control + shift plus A to enter the box where you
enter the links URL but this doesn't seem to work. If there's no way to
do this with jaws the last resort would be to manually enter the link
each time but this would be a huge mission so if someone can help please
do.

Nickus

Re: A table navigation question

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

This table navigation layer command was added in JAWS 13. It did not exist in JAWS 12.
I know you can exit this mode with Escape -- and perhaps other keys -- but I know Escape works.
I still find JAWS 13 flakey in that screen echo is unpredictable in Outlook attachment list reading, in reading styles in MS Word 2003, and in other surprising places.
There are few days when I can stay in JAWS 13. Before the day is out, I've usually switched back to JAWS 12, even though JAWS 13 has some nice features, including this table navigation.

Hi,

Here's what I got last night from Roger Levine it works with JAWS 13. Doing
this results in me only needing to arrow around a table. It didn't work in

Hi Dondi,
I found the keys for table navigation. It is a layer
command(insert+spacebar) and then the letter T. insert+spacebar and then
question mark
will give you more info.

You can use the keyboard manager to reassign the table navigation keys to
whatever combinations you want to use. The default key assignments use
ctrl+alt.

Hi Everyone,

When I'm navigating a table on a web page I use the key combination of
control+alt with the arrow keys to get around. Is there a way to
control+navigate
around in a table without holding down the key combination of control+alt?

Re: A table navigation question

Dondi

Hi,

Here's what I got last night from Roger Levine it works with JAWS 13. Doing
this results in me only needing to arrow around a table. It didn't work in
JAWS 12.

Hi Dondi,
I found the keys for table navigation. It is a layer
command(insert+spacebar) and then the letter T. insert+spacebar and then
question mark
will give you more info.

Help with jaws settings

Lori Duncan <Lori_duncan21@...>

Hi everyone, I'm trying to seeup my jaws 13 to not speak letters or keys like tab or spacebar, also I'd like typing interupt to be turned off. I went through the merge utility and it seems to have worked for the sound volume but nothing else for some reason. Hope someone can help. Thanks from Lori.

Making default search was: Google Accessible Search

Robert Logue <bobcat11@...>

Anyone know how to add these alternative search engines to Internet Explorer's search engine list so they become the default. Seems like it is now harder to do. I wanted Google.ca as my default and was not able to do it after Microsoft recently changed the search providers page. Even Googles instructions failed to do the job.

That's a good one. Also try www.scroogle.org. Both of these don't track your searches.

Someone on another list said this is a good page that searches through Google:

Happy New Year All: Recently when using the Google Accessible Search link:

I am not getting the familiar list of the Top 10 links returned in my searches.
My default position is to assume I'm doing something wrong but I really didn't think even I could screw up something this simple. Apparently not so.
Thanks for any advice. Mitch
