Jonas:

Reinstalling an operating system, should be the last thing to be considered, given the amount of time it takes to reinstal the operating system, downloading and installing all the updates, installing all the software and setting everything the way you would like it. Much better to find a way to get rid of the infection. Another solution, is to make regular backups of the system, with programs such as Image for Windows.

Hello Richard:

Go to:

http://www.ninite.com

Press CTRL+F, in the search edit field, type "java" (without the quotes), press the SPACE BAR, to check the check box, then press the letter B, to take you to the button which will download the checked file. Please note, the button is unavailable if no check box is checked.

I use the executeable file from Ninite to update Java on all our systems. I am pretty certain that all the downloaders from ninite.com exclude any bloatware, such as additional tool bars and third party software.

Is there a way to encourage companies to make accessibility a prioity if you have a large base of users?

David Ingram

Hi, there should be accessibility as something that should start from the ground up.  I can't see with all the things that are available now that companies are not aware of developer tools that are available to them to make accessibility the first thing that people can notice, especially if the developers no that with in there developers tools of choice that accessibility exist..  I'd like to know how can we educate developers and programmers the best practices to use over all?  Thank you list members for having any information that may help to increase accessibility for many different products even for those companies who may not have considered accessibility to begin with?

If an organization of the blind, like the American Council, or the National Federation, want to fight for something, often things change for the better.  Case in point was the ACB getting involved   with Major League Baseball inaccessibility.  The problem is getting them motivated.

My main question is why hasn't one or both of these groups fought for accessibility of virus protection products?

That is the one and only way that accessibility becomes, well, more accessible.  Using the correct kind of PR spin doesn't hurt, either.  There are no "big bucks" to be made via accessibility but the polishing of one's reputation that comes from making it a priority is a potential goldmine.  I don't think that either Microsoft or Apple, two of the biggest companies making accessibility a base expectation, are doing so because it improves their bottom line in the conventional sense, yet they're definitely getting something out of it and that's worth noting and encouraging.

Creating corporate cultures where accessibility is an expectation, rather than an afterthought if it's thought of at all, is the way forward.  At the moment, it seems the tide is shifting in that direction, at least for companies where that's practical (and, yes, it's much more difficult for tiny companies with limited resources than it is for companies with multi-billion [or trillion] valuations).  But what the "big ones" do does rub off.

I am not sure of the FF 56 and above. However JAWS supports ARIA Grid

To have the proper user experience for navigating with arrow keys the focus
need to be managed with the scripting.
The arrrow key navigation works properly only when JAWS is on forms mode not

One hint.  When you start the installation, there is a link to “more options”.  Click on this, and there are 2 check boxes for you to decide whether to include the described feature, e.g. make Bing your default search engine.  Click continue, and the installation will go the rest of the way.

Hey folks. So I’ve been using chrome as default browser for a bit now, and with the exception of one or two things I need for work have pretty much retired IE. I’m wondering if there are any settings I can change to make chrome just that little bit less annoying to use so that I can retire IE completely. My problem is certain sites don’t read quite as well in chrome as they do in IE. I’m not entirely sure if that’s a JAWS problem or a chrome problem, but I’ll accept any changes I can make to either if they help. Using latest chrome and JAWS 18, if that makes a difference. Thanks either way.

There is a setting to choose not to have updates automatically in options.

Hi All,

It took me several attempts before I found a download of Classic Skype version 7, in a form where it would not automatically switch to and install version 8.  The link is below.

One hint.  When you start the installation, there is a link to “more options”.  Click on this, and there are 2 check boxes for you to decide whether to include the described feature, e.g. make Bing your default search engine.  Click continue, and the installation will go the rest of the way.

Thank you, Bill.  I’m sure one of these emails I’ve tried to block will show up in my inbox very soon and I can give this a try.

Hi, Laura. There is no choice to block a domain. Instead, block the sender. Then, once this is done, go into Junkmail options, go to the blocked senders list, click the edit field. Once you have clicked the edit field, you will see the address of the person you blocked. Now that you see the email address you blocked, just delete everything up to the at sign. For example, if you blocked an email address similar to the following:

carlos123@...

Take out

carlos123@

and just leave gmail.com

Now the entire domain of

gmail.com

is blocked.

How do you block the domain? …… I’m not finding that choice ……

When I say “block” I clicked on “block sender”.  Also, I’m 100% sure the email addresses of the ones I’ve blocked that keep showing up are exactly the same

When you say “blocked” you mean you marked them as spam?

Are you sure the email addresses that keep showing up are exactly the same as the ones you blocked?

Hello,

I have blocked specific emails multiple times only to have them come back to my inbox again and again.  I’m using Jaws 18 and Outlook 2016.  Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this is happening and what I might do to permanently block emails?

Re: Microsoft 1 drive not accessible?

Jed,
Rick again,
Is there a One Drive icon on your desktop? If so, and if you click on it, it will appear in File Explorer. It is just like another drive on your computer. I have used it for a long time, but don't remember that there were any settings. You can just copy and paste or drag and drop files in it.

Let me know if that makes sense and if it works.
Rick
