Subject: Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call?

Hello list,

So, I upgraded Skype for desktop on a laptop to try to get used to it before MS kills Skype classic in September. I came across some short cut keys from: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12025/what-are-hotkeys-and-how-do-i-use-them-in-skype

What I’m not finding is the hotkey to answer an incoming call. I can’t believe that there isn’t one for such a  basic function, but it’s not listed in the table. Start a call, hang up, mute, that’s all fine, but nothing for answering a call. Am I missing something or is this really not included as a shortcut key?

Thanks,

Cristobal

Sounds like not for Skype 8.2. Just downloaded it, and I can’t find it either.

Hi, Pat. Nino is talking about a port scanner, a program that scans your computer to see which ports are open, and which are free to listen. This isn’t just serial ports and parallel ports. These are also the types of ports that Outlook uses on its servers like port 993 for IMAP usage, or the old port used for unsecured email use, port 225.

These sounds are enabled by turning on the Office Sounds.  In Word, go to the File menu, then options.  When the dialog opens, arrow down to the Ease of Access options, then tab over to where all the setting choices are.  The first option is a checkbox to enable the sounds.  Check if this got turned off somehow.

I just started using this feature and am still not sure what all the sounds mean, but kind of like it.  I will note that, from my little test, I only get the sound if I select some text and then hit delete, but not if I delete character by character.

Re: one voice only

Dan Longmore

Easy to get this a little messed up. Select your synthesizer under "Select a Voice Profile". Then under "Voice Adjustments" choose the type of voice you want . Several tabs or down arrows later select "All Contexts" from the combo box. Or you can apply different adjustments for particular JAWS functions such as JAWS cursor, PC cursor, and so on.
All of these adjustments are found under the sub menu of "Voices" which is under the File menu in the latest version of JAWS.
