Re: Question On Eversync Firefox Add-on For Syncing Internet Explorer Favorites With Firefox Bookmarks

Cathy:

Thanks so much for this suggestion, and the steps to carry it out.

I am at my volunteer work place now, but will try this when I get into a quieter setting.

I do have one question:

Once the Internet Explorer favorites are imported into Firefox, where will I be able to find them?

Again, thanks so much!

You can import bookmarks through your Firefox Library. I think it would be easier:

1. Open the Firefox library (CTRL-SHIFT-B)

2. Open the “Import and Backup” menu (ALT-I)

3. Within the menu, activate “Import Data from another Browser”

4. Within the resulting dialog is a set of radio buttons, select the browser from which you’d like to import bookmarks

5. Activate the “Next” button

6. The next screen has checkboxes to import Cookies, Saved Passwords and Favorites, if you want to import all of them, leave the options checked

7. Activate the “Next” button

8. After reviewing the information, activate the “Finish” button

The data is imported into Firefox.

Subject: Question On Eversync Firefox Add-on For Syncing Internet Explorer Favorites With Firefox Bookmarks

Hello, again, everyone.

As I noted the other day, I have now updated my Firefox internet browser to version 61.

Bill White has given me the executable file for a Firefox add-on called Eversync, which is supposed to ssync my Internet Explorer internet favorites with Firefox by adding them to the bookmarks folder.

With some sighted assistance, I was able to successfully do the initial syncing, but am now finding that if I add another favorite to Internet Explorer, the new favorite does not get synced into the Firefox Bookmarks folder.

Has anyone on list had experience with the Eversync add-on in Firefox?  If so, can you tell me how to configure it to continually sync my IE internet favorites with Firefox?

Thanks as always for the help.

Yes. There is.

You can sort messages by a variety of criteria.

1. Open the View Ribbon (ALT-V)

2. Activate the “Arrangement” List (A, B)

Use ALL FOUR ARROW KEYS to make a selection.  You probably want to sort by “Date”

When focused on an option you’d like to use, press ENTER.

Your folder is now sorted by the selected criteria.

Re: Google backup and sync settings

Delaunay Christophe

Hi Nino,

Interacting with this is some sort of try&fail&retry until it works. The good news is that Jaws seems to be able to hit all the controls of the interface. The bad news is that it cannot say what they are really doing. I did not find any other way than trying them one by one and attempting to guess what they really do.

For instance, when I right-click the “Backup and Sync from Google” icon of my systray, it opens some sort of dialog box in which the first element is said by Jaws to be “Settings button”. I press <enter> on it and it opens some sort of contextual menu in which each item is really “cryptic”.

I tried to validate the first item, it opened an “About” box. I closed this box by pressing the <escape> key.

I then tried the second item. It opened my preferred web browser on the Google Drive Help web page. The third item opened a “Send feedback” dialog box. Amazingly, the fourth item says what it does. When Jaws focusses on it, it says “Pause”. Press <enter> and come back to it, it will say “Resume”.

The fifth item is probably what you are looking for. When you press <enter> on it, it opens a dialog box. The first three elements of this box are said by Jaws as buttons. In fact, they reveal to be tabs.

On my computer, first tab was labeled “My laptop”, second “Google Drive” and third “Settings”. I did not deeply play with all the bells and whistles around this box but my main attention was on the ability to sync all or parts of my cloud space. I found what I needed in the “Google Drive” tab. The first element is a checkbox which is checked since I want to sync this computer with my could space. The next element is cryptic and I cannot figure out what it does since nothing seems to happen when I press it. The third element of the ”google drive” tab is a group of two radio buttons: one is for syncing the whole drive, and the second is to sync some folders only. If you check this second radio button, you will then find something to select the folders you want to sync by checking them, and those you do not want to sync by unchecking them.

So, after this exploratory trip into the “Backup and Sync from Google” user interface, I roughly figured out how to set it up for my convenience but I definitely had to guess a lot.

HTH a little bit. Have a nice day. Chris D

Re: Google backup and sync settings

I used a combination of tab and enter.  But I found the latest edition of Google Back up and Sync to cause problems with JAWS.  Often they are not friendly to one another.  So I use only as last resort and I do not allow Google to start with Windows.  I recommend One Drive as a back up cloud source.

That’s just my experience, others may have had better success.

If you create a folder, be sure to zip it into an archive before sending it. That way, you can add it as an attachment.

Then just attach the folder where your attachments are. Be sure to name the

Hi, Ashleigh. I don't think you can put a folder as an attachment. You have
to just put each attachment separately in the email, one below the other.

You didn’t mention Chrome, but for the sake of completeness, I should note that JAWS gives an announcement when you start a download and another when the download finishes, informing you that Shift-F6 will take you to the download options. From there, you can open the file, show it in File Explorer, etc.

This functionality is relatively new, and definitely works in Chrome 67.

Tom,

I think I can help with at least one of your questions. In IE, while using the download manager (CTRL j), one of the options is to alee you when a download complete. Make sure this is checked. In the advanced tab of Internet Options (alt t and up arrow once to get there before choosing the specified tab), there should be an option to “play sounds from web pages” or something similar. I think you’d also need this enabled. I’m not sure how to let you know when a download completes/play sounds in Firefox as I don’t use it … sorry about that! Back in IE, and in the options dialogue of the download manager, you can specify where you’d like your downloads to go. It’s actually one of the first options you find. After pressing CTRL j, you’ll be in the options and a brows button. Just press this and either type of otherwise find the folder you’d like your downloads to complete into. If you don’t know how to brows for your folder without typing it in, press shift tab after getting into the brows dialogue. Do this until you come to your tree view of folders. Tab once to what’s in the first folder you find. If you don’t like the location, press your backspace key until you get to your user folder. It can be a little tricky here, so make sure you’re on the user folder first. Then arrow to where you’d like your downloads to go. You can open this folder, but it’s very important to hit the “select folder” button still on the options page of IE’s download manager. Please ask the group if I’ve not gotten something right here—I’ve not used these options/changed them in a while.

Re: Queries with JAWS 2018

Ron Pelletier

Hi,

If you are using eloquence, I'm afraid you'll have to raise your volume to 100%.

As for the spelling on the fly, you will have to go to your quick settings in the software you are using with the keystroke insert-v. Arrow down to the setting called Auto spelling detect and turn it on hitting the spacebar and then the next setting will give you a choice as to what you want to hear when a word is spelt incorrectly.

As for other languages, again it depends on the language you want to use. Eloquence has a few languages but, to get the better ones, you will have to go to the Freedom Scientific web site and find the language and quality of that language you want. Download and install that language and then follow the process to create a language profile. Once that done, you can switch easily from language to language using the keystroke insert-control-S and arrow down to the language you want and hit enter. Note that, in these languages, you will have an option to raise the volume when creating the profile.

The most difficult part here is to create the language profile. One of us will be able to help you with that if needed once you have downloaded and installed the language you want to use. Note that, on the Freedom web site, there are a few different voices you can choose from in each language. You can hear a sample of that language on the site before you download the voice.

If you are a beginner with JAWS, you are biting quite a mouthful all at once. You will have a lot of reading to do. .

Eagerly await suggestions.

1.  Before I did all of this work, I used to get a sound in both Firefox and Internet Explorer when a file download was complete.  I no longer get that sound, and wonder how to get it back.

And

2.  How can I change my destination folder in Internet Explorer so that all downloads are saved in  a folder location that I prefer.  I’ve got Firefox to put the files where I want them, but can’t seem to find how to do that in Internet Explorer.

Thanks for the assistance.

Thanks, Jason.

This is helpful, since I also plan to download and install Chrome at some point.

It’s always good to have several browser alternatives.

It’s a shame, though, that they don’t all function the same, and involve different procedures for getting desired features to work.

Hope this helps, and have a nice day,

Hello, everyone.

Over the past day or so, I have been updating Firefox, and working with Internet Explorer 11 as my alternate internet browser.

Office 2019 is expected to be the next release after 2016, based on the Office 365 version, which is continually updated with new features.

David,

Quite sure you are correct here about sixteen being the most current version. I am using 365m my contract is paid for the year and no version 18 has appeared.

2018 outlook?  I must be out of the loop.  I thought 2016 was the latest.  I keep checking for 018 and get told it is not out yet.

Hello,

I’m using Windows 10 and Outlook 2018. I used control, shift and F to search for certain emails in the inbox. Once I do the search I cannot get out of the search to see which emails show up. So I hit escape and then nothing shows up. What may I be doing wrong?
