Re: Trouble with "task switching"
Richard Turner
Alt-Tab is the keystroke to switch between open programs.
JAWS says task switching. Apparently it is saying that even when there are no programs open.
But, Al-Tab has no other function. So, if you are pressing alt-tab, then that is what is causing that.

Hi list members, is there a way to create hot spots for I lock manager? The reason why I ask this question is because I've been having a hard time trying to register native instruments. I've also had problems with trying to load those instruments and do other things as well. I can be reached at dingram269@earthlink.net. Thank you for any information that you might have concerning my questions.

Different browsers
David & his pack of dogs
My step daughter was in town for about 5 days, leaving today. To give her something to do, I asked her if she would help me on my Facebook account loading pics and assigning text to each. She used I E and got frustrated. Then she tried Google Chrome to work on my YouTube channel. She found it much easier to work with. It should be noted she is sighted and we worked on both projects for about 12 hours, staying up till about 5:30 AM this morning. I am curious the pics at the Facebook page The Diamond Touch Dog Rehabilitation Center, does V O, Jaws or the screen reader software that an Android device comes with, give a description of the Pics? The reason it took so long was, there was about 270 pics including videos and she found things that were supposed to be fixed up by someone else, were not. For example, my bio had me working at a guide dog school. Alright, those who have gone to guide dog schools, yes, it is work however, we are not employed by the school. Anyway, if anyone has the time, give me feedback as one of the things I was supposed to work on was making my pages more accessible. The gratitude towards her cannot be under estimated as she did it for free whereas others got paid for it.

ITeleport
Annabelle Susan Morison
Hi, it's
Annabelle.
I have this program
called ITeleport, which allows one to share their computer screen with a sighted
friend. My friend, Markus Johnson (yes, that's "Markus" with a "k", not a "c"),
was the one who introduced me to it, and he and I use it on a regular basis to
make mouse scripts with Axife Mouse Recorder. So what I'd like to find out is,
will JAWS 15 with OCR understand the buttons and controls in ITeleport? Or will
I have to have someone make scripts for the
program?

Hey guys,
OK, i think i'm running firefox 56. I am having a horrific experience loading web pages. Honest to god it feels like i'm on dialup. I just loaded firefox and i went to gmail, I counted 24 seconds before the page even opened. According to speedtest on my phone i'm getting 83 megs download, but that could also be just from me to the router. Any ideas what it might be?

Jaws, Magic, Office 2013 combo causing crashes
Amy Bower
Hi All - just returning to this list after a long break, so my apologies if this topic has been covered. My basic set up is Windows 7 with Office 2013. When I upgraded to Jaws 18, and then Jaws2018, along with Magic 14, I got repeated crashes of Jaws and/or Magic that required reboot to recover. Happened on two platforms. Seemed to occur mostly when using Office applications (Outllook, Word, maybe PowerPoint). Would get several crashes per day, so had to roll back to Jaws 17 and Magic 13.1. I want to use new features available in Jaws 2018, but can't live with the constant instability. Registered a complaint with VFO that was thrown up to the developers, but no fix or response (that was months ago). Wondering if anyone else encountered this and/or found a fix? Will upgrading to Windows 10 and/or Office 2016 solve the problem?
Thanks. -Amy B.

Re: retrying downloads in Firefox

did you try pressing the application key or shift+f10 to see if there's

a resume command to enter on? if you have more than one failed download, you'd have to arrow to each download and press the appropriate keystroke. the other way is to use the screen reader's review mode to see if you can "click" on retry or resume. while the downloads are shown, if you use JAWS, you can also try using the virtualized window or the convenient OCR to see if you can "click" on the retry or resume.

I have tried several ways to get to this retry button (applications key, Shift-F10, tab, even Control+R), but cannot figure out how to access this button/link/option. The JAWS cursor nor OCR even seem to read the downloads list, seemingly because the font is too small. I know I can go back to a place and simply restart the download manually, but it would be convenient to know how to get to this option from within the downloads list. Anyone ever succeeded with this in JAWS? Hope I am not missing something obvious! Thank you as always! Mike .
