Re: JAWS 18 and the latest Office365?
Why would you loose access to Word if you install Office 2016 via an Office 365 subscription and save your documents on your local hard drive? Subscriptions are the way things go and since I would otherwise pay for 1 TB of Dropbox storage I think the Office 365 subscription which includes 1 Tb of OneDrive storage is a heck of a deal. Also, $99 a year allows up to 5 family members (or good friends if you wish) to install Office and each person gets 1 Tb of storage as well as 60 Skype minutes for those who use them.

JAWS 18 forgetting its place in Google Chrome?
James Homuth
Hey, folks. I do an aweful lot of work in several different web browsers, and the only one I notice this issue with is Google Chrome. What happens is JAWS 18 will forget where I left off if I have to leave the window for any reason. I don't see this issue in Firefox/IE. Anyone else seeing this? Is there a painless way to resolve it? I can use place markers, so if there's no fix it's not a major dealbreaker. Just slightly annoying. Thanks for help, if there is any.

I turned off the “Start Screen” and “Back Stage View” as mentioned in Richard’s post. Also, I disabled the “Reading” pane in Word. I found that turning off the “Preview pane in Outlook was also helpful and disabling “groups” in the People section improved JAWS. Sometimes you just have to play with the settings to see what will and will not work. Trouble is that both JAWS and Office 2016 (Office 365) do numerous updates and what now works good may not with next update but the above settings usually remain unchanged with updates. There has been one time however when setting needed fixed after a Office update. Dan Ps I do not use Office calendar but there are JAWS glitches if certain settings are not changed.

The reason I recommend this is that they have a microsoft tool which will remove the offending file. It is something like proxywow or something like that. They had to do the same with mine, and the repair would not proceed until this was done.

Then, go down to the save options which is about 4 below the general tab and make sure that "Don't show the backstage when opening or saving files" is checked. This is the same in Word and Excel. Jaws Error;
david
Good afternoon; from out of nowhere I'm now receiving the following jaws error.
when I boot my computer, or, when I use hotkey to start either jaws 18 or 2018. The Freedom Scientific Accessibility Display Driver is not properly installed. so, I did a repair, doing the following; find the executable, copy as path, add a space, and type in: \typerepair. so the line looks like, "C:\Users\owner\Downloads\J2018.1805.33.400-enu-x64.exe" \TypeRepair the repair actually starts, then a few minutes in I receive, unable to complete repair, repair failed. then I did a uninstall reinstall, still the same result. has anyone a suggestion?
Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

Re: JAWS 18 and the latest Office365?
It should be in Office 2013 as Bill said, but are you talking about Backstage or Start Screen? The backstage comes into play during saving and opeing files and you can turn on "Do Not use Backstage" under Options > Save, once you are in the save tab you can try Alt+

S. The start screen is that initial screen which comes uop when you first open Excel or Word where you have to press escape to get rid of it. This is in Options > General and in Office 2016 it's the last option before the OK button, so you can get to it quicker if you Shift Tab 3 times or you can try Alt+H. Regards, Sieghard
