Re: How can I enter a vertical tab in a search box?
Bill White <billwhite92701@...>
Hi, Tim. The character code for a Vertical Tab is decimal code 11. Since this is Control K, and Control K is a command in Word, you cannot enter it this way.
Instead, open the Search and Replace with CONTROL plus H.
Then, in the Find What dialog, enter ^11
The Karat is the shift of number six on the numbers row below the function keys.
Then, Tab to the Replace All button, and press ENTER.
All the replacements will be made, and all the Vertical Tabs will be removed.
Press the Escape Key twice, save the document, and all the Vertical Tabs should be gone.

In Microsoft Word, you can toggle paragraph marks on and off with CTRL-SHIFT-NUMBER ROW 8. I suspect you accidentally pressed this command. Press it again and they will go away.

Using Jaws 2018 and MS Word 2010, Jaws has started saying “paragraph mark” at the beginning of each paragraph. I don’t know how I accidentally turned this on, but I don’t remember the key commands or menu location to turn it off. any help would be appreciated. thanks, Marla

Hit enter and tab through your choices. 1 inch should be one of the options, if not, select customize and make them all 1 inch. Single line spacing I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I believe if you select the entire document and hit control+1 it will make it single line spacing. The problem I have is that Word wants to default to some spacing after paragraphs. If you again hit alt then p and then tab until you hear spacing before and spacing after, you can check those. Font size 12 Font in Times New Roman Hit control+a to select the entire document, then hit the application key or shift+f10 and arrow up or down to font and hit enter. You will be in a list and if you hit the letter t and then arrow down you should find Times New Roman, then tab to style, which should be regular, tab once more to size and either enter 12, or arrow down to 12 and hit enter. I hope that helps, Richard

Hi all, one of my clients pressed a key on the keyboard to change the language to Spanish. She doesn’t know what keystroke she used. Does anyone else know so this doesn’t happen again? It put the entire document in Spanish. She is using word 2016. Best: James

In the JAWS quick settings there is an item under "editing options" that says "speak lines and paragraph markers". If alt+h, then 8 doesn't do it, maybe that setting will.
