Frankly, I had so much trouble with Windows Live Mail that I just gave up on it. I am now using Thunderbird.

Dear all,

Facebook mobile interface is decently accessible. However, it lacks some features. As I remember, some people here have been using the main site rather effectively. I think it's a matter of a few hints to be stated here. So, any tips is greatly appreciated.

I am especially concerned with how to enable the chat for us as well as how to effectively navigate there.

Thanks,

Hamid

My experience is that when I open an email in WLM that it reads the email
with no action from me. WLM drove me nuts until I discovered that the

Chris,
Good suggestion.

In fact, this was what I was thinking, too.
Because this new pc does have 2 sound cards.
When I went through the customize ordering of the Dell, I selected this
one.
It is a Sound blaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, and it is installed in an
expansion slot.

This behavior I described has been there right from the beginning. I
thought
I would look in the JAWS utilities under sound cards. And sure enough the
setting had the checkbox on Windows default. The Soundblaster was listed
there. So I hit enter on that, and now it is checked. Sadly, however, my
problem remains.

Might I need to reinstall JAWS or something?
I should add, that the reading is fine until the end of any string of text
when it cuts off too early.
Even in reading menus or whatever it is not finishing the word.

Thanks.
Rik

Rik, do you have another soundcard or audio device you can try
putting Jaws Through on that machine? If so, go to Jaws, U for
Utilities, O for Sound Cards, and you can specify a different sound
device for Jaws there.

Re: JAWS 13 on a new pc, speech cutting off too soon

Rik, do you have another soundcard or audio device you can try putting Jaws Through on that machine? If so, go to Jaws, U for Utilities, O for Sound Cards, and you can specify a different sound device for Jaws there.

JAWS 13 on a new pc, speech cutting off too soon

rixmix2009@...

I have JAWS 13 running on a couple of new Dell desktops.
On the newest one, I successfully installed and activated the latest upgrade of JAWS 13.

There is a behavior I hope someone may be able to help me solve.

JAWS reads fine. But at the end of each bit of information it cuts off before it is done, just short of the last speech sound.

The best example to explain it is when you are on a word, and just arrow character by character.
Each character is rendered nearly unrecognizable by this halted up short blip of a sound.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Rik

Re: Jaws-friendly firewall?

Hi Dave,
On my xp machine I use, Sigate personal firewall.
Sometime ago Sigate provided us with a free version & you could get it from the jfwlite.com website, but since Semantec took over Sigate the link on the above site no longer works.
But you can still register the firewall for free & it works great on xp.
The only thing I dont like about it is, when it pops up & blocks something, there is no sound like a ding or dong to let you know it has popped up, so you need to alt tab around to it & tell it what to do.
But once you have set it up allowing things like email programs & browsers, anti virus programs & so on, it only pops up when its something new.
It will advise about incomming trafic aswell as out going, wich I think is great.
I have uploaded it to sendspace for you to download.
if you decide to use it let me know & I will type out the registration & set up steps if you need them.

Is there a good free, firewall for XP that's accessible with JFW 11? Something better than the Windows firewall.
