While that may well be one situation, in my case it was an XP Pro machine with JAWS 9 and 11 installed. Installing JAWS 12 resulted in the same problem as experienced by Dondi. However the remedy was not to continue to burn off keys, as it didn't matter. I recall that JAWS 12 responded with already being activated, but on a subsequent reboot, the same problem arose. FS support came up with the remedy that involved either my JAWS 9 or JAWS 11, but not sure which. Once I did that, the problem never came back, even when I later installed JAWS 13. So again in my case it was an XP machine and not Windows 7. I think that Donny Harris' suggestion for a manual activation may be similar to what I needed to do, but not sure -- henceforth my suggestion for Dondi to refer to FS support for help. years. So here is what I do to activate1. I choose to activate by phone, that is one of the options if you arrow down when you hear (activate via the internet) 2. You will need to choose configure manually. 3. You will need 3 numbers, a 30 digit number called the 30 digit serial number, also called your 30 digit activaction code) 4 your 20 digit authorization number.activation number. 5. Your locking code. You can find your locking code in the help section under about Jaws. You will have to route your Jaws to your p c curser. For the 30 and the 20 digit numbers you will need to call F.S. with your normal serial number and they can give you these other numbers. I think that my fire wall is preventing this from doing it's job and have learned to do this, it isn't hard at all. Good luck, Donnie Harris.

Re: [Bulk] The best screen resolution with JAWS
Dave Durber
Dave & David:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
It is more than likely not JAWS that is bitching about the screen resolution. Many programmers, for a lot of companies, have decided that their particular software, is best used with a higher resolution, than what you have set the screen resolution in Windows. When a particular application detects that the Windows resolution is lower than that set by the software manufacturer, an error messsage is displayed telling you so. Refusing to accept the applications suggestion, that the resolution should be changed to the higher setting, does not, nor will not, necessarily mean that information on the screen will not be displayed correctly. However, There are certain applications, where using a lower resolution, rather than a higher resolution, could or would compromize the quality of the data being displayed. People who use screen-readers, should not allow themselves to be confused between error messages displayed by their screen-reader and error messages displayed by Windows and any particular software application. We should all learn, as far as possible, the error messages for each application. One more thing, we as users of adaptive technology, must never fall into the able bodied persons' trap, that is blaming the adaptive technology for the majority of errors and problems on our computers. Able bodied people, are always looking to blame specialized software, especially when they cannot, or do not want to be bothered diagnosing the real problem. A bad workperson always blames their tools, while a stupid person, an ignorant person, or a lazy person, will always blame someone else or something else, to cover up their stupidity, ignorance and laziness. Sincerely: Dave durber

had to re-enable it. Go to tools with alt-t, then o for options. You should land on "general." If not, arrow up or down until you do. Then shift-tab a few times until you land on the add-ons button. After this, you may need to do some tabbing, some reading with the JAWS cursor and some arrowing up and down. What you're looking for is extensions. When you do, tab to a list of programs that Firefox calls extensions. Arrow down to Webvisum, then tab. You should land on a button saying something to the effect, "Enable Webvisum." Press the spacebar, then follow the prompt to reboot Firefox. Let us know if this works.

Re: [Bulk] Dragon and JAWS 133
Peter Holdstock <ptrholdstock@...>
Hi, I would suggest people try their onboard soundcards before going out and buying new ones as most laptops these days use either Intel or Realtek audio cards which have certainly worked fine for me. The headset is the main thing. I'm not sure what mine is but if I find out I'll pass it on. It works amazingly well out of the box. If you've got an Iphone you can even use that as the microphone and that works very well also.

I promised everyone that I would post a message as soon as I had fully installed Dragon Naturally Speaking. I did absolutely no training. This is version 11.5, and I am amazed with its accuracy. In fact, I am dictating this e-mail message using Naturally Speaking. Here are some tips: first, if you are using a laptop, your built in sound card is probably an adequate. I would encourage you to use a USB sound card. Second, in order to keep the Dragon Toolbar out of the way, under "options," be sure to put Naturally Speaking in the system tray. Third, under Options, be sure to go to the hotkeys tab. There, create a set of hotkeys that makes sense to you. For those of you who are looking for a dictation solution, I highly recommend Dragon Naturally Speaking. Just so you know, I made absolutely no edits to this e-mail message. I.
