Hello,

You can, when the message is opened, move it with the following keys. CTRL alt and v will get one into the move dialogue, and tab to “all folders” if you’ve not landed on that first. Arrow up and down until you get to your desired folder, and press enter. To check that the message is moved, tab to the folders button. Of course, all this assumes you’re using the mail app. Go to the folder desired/where you moved the message and check if it’s there. In outlook 2016, and without opening the message, CTRL alt and v still moves your message. Only this time, you’re in the inbox itself and don’t have to go to all folders. Up and down arrow until you reach the folder of choice to move to. Press enter, and you’ve got it. To check, press CTRL y to get into your tree view of folders. If you’ve placed the message into an inbox folder, right arrow to open the inbox submenu if it’s not already done first. JAWS will say “inbox”, the number of messages inside and either closed or open. Need any more help? Don’t hesitate to write me off list or write to the group as well.,

Thank you,

Going away from gmail will not make much difference, if you don't want to be tracked then sell your smartphone, computer and any other possibly connected devices you have, then buy only in stores using cash and even then it will not be perfect. We live in a world where enjoying the conveniences of technology mean that we have to give up a certain amount of privacy and you may as well accept that. Trying to "make it harder" doesn't really work if you want to be online, buy stuff from Amazon, do Google searches etc. You just waste a lot of time trying to outfox these very smart companies who ultimately get what they want whether you have a gmail account or not. You might as well save yourself the time and effort, use the normal precautions about what you click on, what phone calls you accept and if it sounds or looks weird then chances are it is and it's better to hang up or press delete. How accepting the vast majority of people are becomes obvious with the recent Facebook privacy stuff. Yes, a bunch of people deleted their profiles, most opf them were probably people who didn't use Facebook that much to begin with. Now a couple of weeks have passed and Facebook stocks are going up again, it's all forgotten and if not forgotten then it's accepted and everybody hopes that maybe a few good things come of it with respect to Facebook being a bit more careful or the government implementing a few new safeguards.

I am not sure it was posted here or not, but a few weeks ago someone posted
an article of tips to reduce your tracking footprint so to speak To reduce
companies like google etc. from tracking and either selling your data to
advertisers or doing targeted ads to you. If that article could be reposted

looking for that info and considering going away from a gmail address and
taking other steps nothing is full proof but I can make it harder for those

moderated Software to convert scanned images to PDF files

First of all, thank you to those who responded to my initial post on this thread.

As I mentioned previously, I have only had the Canon MG 2500 for a week, so I have some learning to do, before I can use the photocopying and scanning functions confidently.

In 2014, I bought a Canon CanoScan Lide 210 scanner. I only installed its driver, so I could use Kerzweil 1000 with it.

Yesterday, I installed the rest of the software which was included on the CD.

On the front of the scanner, are several buttons, which perform designated functions. Obviously, the buttons do not work without the software being installed.

With the software installed, After some experimenting, I found that the button on the extreme left, is the Scan to PDF function. You can scan a single page or multiple pages. The only thing you have to do if you are scanning multiple pages, is to change the page, then press ENTER, to activate the Next button, to scan each page. Once you have finished scanning all the pages, Press ENTER, to activate the Finish Button. When you activate the Finish Button, the software automatically saves all the images to a single image file, then converts the image file to a pdf file. the two files are saved in the same folder.

I then opened the file in Kerzweil 1000, and was happy to hear the entire text of the document with great accuracy. Of course, as we all know, that is not always going to be the case.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

because there are viruses that can be installed as soon as a message is opened i turn the preview pane off because your messages are opened automatically and if there is malware or a virus in it it can infect you as soon as it opens.
at least you have a chance to delete it if it looks like spam when the preview pane is not used.

messages closed.

highlight the messages, open a context menu and use move. then arrow to the

folder where you want to move it and press enter on the folder. you can do this

to move or copy a message. but wait a few seconds. it may seam the message is

still there in the original folder and if you try to delete it before it has

been moved it will go to the deleted folder instead.

Hi,

Using: latest W10Home 64 bit, Jaws 2018 and Rollback RX Home

Has anyone got experience with using Rollback Home, the free version, who
could give me some pointers in its use?

I can't discover how to delete an old snapshot so a new one can be made. If
a new snapshot is attempted, the programme says to delete an old one
first but no hint how this can be done.

The setting section can be apparently setup so an old snapshot will be
automatically deleted and a new snapshop made but so far, after setting it to
4 days, nothing has happened.

Google searches on the subject seems to only deal with the professional
version and not the free one.

Thanks for any assistance.

I'm not sure this is of any help, but it is possible to review the
entire screen, but be aware doing this will allow JAWS to review
background gibberish that's behind the dialog. you will need to do the
following after the JAWS cursor has been enabled. press and hold insert
while pressing r. with each press of r, JAWS will cycle thru reading
modes. keep pressing r until you hear Unrestricted. now you can move the
JAWS cursor beyond the sticking point, but be sure to return the reading
mode to the default, Application window restriction, to eventually
return the JAWS cursor back to proper behavior.

the keystrokes that Bill offered are keystrokes for defining frame
boundries when creating frames and their use in further scripting.

I don't think you can navigate up and down with the mouse pointer. You can,
however, use the mouse itself with mouse echo turned on. To do this,

1. Press INSERT or JAWS key plus Space bar, followed by the letter E.

Then the following keys are available to change the behavior of Mouse Echo,
once JAWS key plus Space followed by E is entered,

Toggle mouse echo On/Off = O.
Set mouse echo to character = C.
Set mouse echo to word = W.
Set mouse echo to line = L.
Set mouse echo to paragraph = P.

because there are viruses that can be installed as soon as a message is opened i turn the preview pane off because your messages are opened automatically and if there is malware or a virus in
it it can infect you as soon as it opens.
at least you have a chance to delete it if it looks like spam when the preview pane is not used.

Hello,

You can, when the message is opened, move it with the following keys. CTRL alt

and v will get one into the move dialogue, and tab to “all folders” if you’ve

not landed on that first. Arrow up and down until you get to your desired

folder, and press enter. To check that the message is moved, tab to the folders

button. Of course, all this assumes you’re using the mail app. Go to the folder

desired/where you moved the message and check if it’s there. In outlook 2016,

and without opening the message, CTRL alt and v still moves your message. Only

this time, you’re in the inbox itself and don’t have to go to all folders. Up

and down arrow until you reach the folder of choice to move to. Press enter,

and you’ve got it. To check, press CTRL y to get into your tree view of

folders. If you’ve placed the message into an inbox folder, right arrow to open

the inbox submenu if it’s not already done first. JAWS will say “inbox”, the

number of messages inside and either closed or open. Need any more help? Don’t

hesitate to write me off list or write to the group as well.,

Thank you,

Interesting and not intuitive.  Does that mean that JAWS does not offer the same kind of screen reviewing that Window Eyes did where I could use keys to navigate up and down the screen with the pointer?   These various modes are my bigger learning hurdle right now with JAWS.

I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but there are two keystrokes in JAWS:

Get top left corner:

CONTROL plus SHIFT plus LEFT BRACKET

Get Bottom Right Corner:

CONTROL plus SHIFT plus RIGHT BRACKET

Hi all,

I have a couple programs at work that do not work well with speech.  In Window-Eyes I could put the mouse pointer to the top left of the program window or dialog box, then arrow down to read some status lines or get close to the edit fields I need.

With JAWS, I’m getting proficient with routing the JAWS cursor to PC, but I cannot figure out if there is a way to get my mouse pointer to the top left or bottom left corners of the focused window.  With Window Eyes, I just had to hit the 7 on the numpad.  Is there a method?

Thanks.

My work is mainly focused in interpreting, but for the occasional translating stuff, I’ll go lazy and use this site: http://www.spanish-translator-services.com/espanol/traductor-gratis.htm

It’s actually pretty solid. The Microsoft built in translator is also surprisingly good. ProZ.com works too, but that site is a little more funky to get around in with a screen reader last I tried.

Keeping in mind other factors like localization and register. I.E. The Spanish spoken in Mexico or Argentina, Cuba, Spain, etc will vary in idioms/slang and the level of education and so on.

The services I mentioned above are good for a foundation to work off of, but for more formal translation work, it’s not just a copy and paste job. You have to know what you’re talking about. But for casual communication or in a pinch, they’d more or less get the job done.

This is off the PC of course. The Google translate iOS app would be my choice for mobile, but they for whatever reason only offer Castilian Spanish which for the Latin American Spanish ear can be . . . tedious to listen to. That probably wouldn’t matter in this case though.

Hello All,

I posted this request back a couple of weeks ago.  The one response I did get was not what I needed.  In posting again, and with my apologies, I am hopeful someone can help.

I am using JAWS 17 with Windows 10.  I have a friend whose English is no better than my Spanish.  Is there a web site, Word feature, stand-alone software, or some other way for she and I to type and hit a button to translate?  It could be just reading the screen, or better yet, a button to press to have the computer speak the translation.  Any ideas are much appreciated!

Sincerely,

Tim Ford
