John,
Are you sure, even though you are no doubt the administrator on this drive, that you have rights to write in the favorites folder on the hard drive?
I cannot recommend calling Microsoft Accessibility strongly enough. They can remote into your computer and figure out what is going on. Which should resolve your issue quickly.

As George said, knowing the steps you are taking would help us know what
to suggest.
But, if I'm adding a favorite in Internet Explorer, I hit Alt+a and then
arrow down to add to favorites and hit enter, then you can either take
the name offered, type your own name for the site, and then tab to Add,

I'm glad to know this tip. I use Internet Explorer, because it's the devil I know and seems to work as well as any of them, better for me, because I'm used to it. Unfortunately, I'll probably outlive it, then have to figure out an alternative. Who knows, maybe by then there will be something really good; I hope anyway.

Hi,

I found what I think is a song I had learned a long time ago and want to refresh my memory.  But, I need a little clarification about using your script.

It does work in Notepad on Windows 10 with Jaws 2018.

Is the “verticle tab” the separation between lines?

So, I would move to a line after a verticle tab and hit control+alt+t and then copy that into another file, then repeat until I’ve gone through the entire song?

I haven’t used the virtual viewer in Jaws that much yet.  I am a forced convert from Window-eyes.

Thanks,

Richard

Subject: tab reader scripts

hi,
if anyone else is having trouble making these scripts work with jaws 15 or lower.
here is a solution.

oh yeh imn new to the list cheers.

Fix for tab reader scripts

  1. 1.Open the .jsd documentation file for the tab scripts.

2Go down the page and Delete all the “SearchRank” delete only the SearchRank. very important.

  1. 3.Save the changes.

4close the documentation window.

5 open the .jss file for tab readerscripts.

6. it should say error unknown word-: meaning the colon.

7. open the .jsd file again the script documentation file.

8. go down the page and there should be a : colon that is by itself a few lines down from the top.

9. delete the colon. Only this colon.

10. save the changes.

10. open the .jss file for the tab scripts . it should open without any errors.

11. press the compile command. Control plus S.

Even though my experience with Freedom Scientific support has often not been very good, if no one replies on list, you might give them a call and see if they have any suggestions.

I had given sharepoint a try when I thought our office was going to begin using it for more than web site updates, and found it messy as “h e double hocky sticks,” (to quote Radar O’Riley, or did he say toothpicks?.

Are you using Internet Explorer?
I know that keystroke works for Firefox, I had not tried it with Internet Explorer since I personally always use Firefox. But, when I have to use IE at work, I've been taking the long way 'round I guess.

Richard, why do you press alt+a, down arrow to add a favorite and press
enter? all I do is press control+d and press enter.

As George said, knowing the steps you are taking would help us know what
to suggest.
But, if I'm adding a favorite in Internet Explorer, I hit Alt+a and then
arrow down to add to favorites and hit enter, then you can either take
the name offered, type your own name for the site, and then tab to Add,
or tab to the list of favorites folders, or create a new folder.

Hi: I installed a new hard drive recently; and when I find a website I
like, I go to add a favorite . . . ... It won't allow me to do it and
just returns to the website. This never happened to me before. Any
suggestions?
Thank you.

I also would like any help with this.  I have Sharepoint at work, and have problems running Jaws 17 and Windows 7.

Hi Richard,

I joined the Jaws help list about 5 days ago and have been learning from many of the topics there.  I tried to post the following question, but for some reason it never showed up.  I am writing you off list because you might have a much better handle on 365 than I do.  Also, you might know some others who might be able to help me with my questions below.

Thanks much.

I use 365 at work.  How do you best navigate teams, groups, share point in Jaws.  I understand the concept, just need to know how to use each.  Are the use of calendars, planners, one note, and mail the same as they are in regular outlook?  Is there a hot key chart for using these?

Thanks.

Judy

Hi, trying to install web visum, and got firefox esr 52. Latest update, 52. But it keeps  me the install panel. Does not allow me to install, even though got an eception set up. Any one had any issues. Or is there a newer version, and did try installing a newer version and adding it to firefox, downloaded, said it instlled. But never installed. If web visum is not be updated or developed. Are there any other good free web captures. For jaws. Don’t have a credit card, so a paid option is not possible.

Thanks.showoing

moderated Re: jaws 218 online tax filing

Brad Martin

I prepare lots of tax returns for people as a volunteer tax preparer. Assuming you're in the U.S., I can tell you that:

MyFreeTaxes from United Way if free if your income is less than $66,000. I haven't used it this year, but for the past five or six years at least, it's always been very accessible. It uses H&R Block Premium, so I would assume H&R Block should work with it as well. But you can't beat that free thing if your income is below the limit ($66,000). Now that I think of it, I have a friend who is blind who uses MyFreeTaxes every year and has not complained of any issues this year. I know he already filed his taxes.

In my work, we use a "pro" version of TaxSlayer, but even when they were first building the "pro" version, it was always very very accessible. And since the "Pro" version is almost certainly based on the home user's version, I would believe TaxSlayer would also be very easy to use with JAWS.

For what it's worth, I've never had to use a particular browser with either product. I'm using JAWS 15, and I've not found any issues with either MyFreeTaxes.com or TaxSlayer using Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Word will do it for you.

Type the first Roman number, then tab once to put in your information and press enter
Most likely, Word will give you II after you press enter. Tab once, and Word will give you A. Fill in that line and press enter, and you will have B. Then C. and so on.

When you want another Roman number, press shift+tab, and I believe Word will fill in the II.

Good luck!
