Re: [Bulk] Using Outlook07 how to search for Next string of text in email?

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

So, this was changed from Outlook 2003. In Outlook 2003, it is F-4 and then Shift plus f-4.
If those of you with Outlook 2007 or 2010 could check, it might be useful to know if Microsoft changed these. If not, the above keystrokes work rather nicely to search for text strings, and I use them all the time with the iPhone list where I get messages in digest form.

Re: [Bulk] Using Outlook07 how to search for Next string of text in email?

Dave...

Gerardo,

When the message is open, Alt and then press space on the Message tab
Then left arrow to the Find Group
Then shift+Tab once to the Find button.

Input the text and Alt+f to find the first occurrence.
Then as long as you don't leave the find dialog, Alt+f will find the next
occurrence in the message and speak the line on which it was found..

There's also a shortcut to get to the find dialog, indicated as Alt + h F,
D. However it does not work for me, so perhaps I'm not hearing the correct
letters.

I heard that. That little Accessible PDF app I mentioned is quite nice;
if it had any but rudimentary page navigation, I'd give it an
unqualified recommendation. Oh, it also doesn't save in PDF, only HTML
or Txt, but if you don't open from Web sites, that's not a problem. AR
lost the ability to save in HTML quite a while ago.

Hi,

Well, it's like the previous versions; slow and crash-prone. The only
difference is the user interface which has been distorted. I think the
slowness issue is related to combination of JAWS with it. I always
prefer to
stay away from Adobe Acrobat by converting PDF files to TXT or word.

How well does X do with long documents? The performance of 7,8, and 9
has been truly awful, forcing the user to choose between either
continually paging down or dealing with a balky, slow, crash-prone
application (I haven't compared notes with sighted users on this
issue).
I've been using that little reader that came with Thunder; it lacks
fancy features, but is rock steady.

Now when I load a document, I can't read anything.

When I do a down arrow it just says blank.

It is not an OCR thing since I could read the same document with

I am using Jaws 12.1169.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Jaws 12 & Word 03

Kimber Gardner

Lauren,

I've seen this same thing for several versions of jaws and ms word.
Sometimes if you arrow past the selections you actually want to read
like font then arrow back jaws will start reading. Another trick that
usually works for me is to type a letter like T which takes you to the
first selection beginning with T in the font list (I think it's
Tahoma). You should then be able to move up and down the list and jaws
will read the choices.

I hope this helps.

Kimber

Hi,

Jaws won't talk when I go to the format menu for instance in Word and choose
font. It says "edit combo" but won't tell me my choices when I use the arrow
keys; the same for font style, size. Help!

Sincerely,

Lauren

AH OK. Unfortunately though it still doesn't seem to have any affect what settings I select but thanks for pointing that out. Personally I prefer it the other way it used to be..

Dear Petter.
If you had reed the enhancements, you know that option has been disabled.
Now you can use the quick setting module, pressing insert + V

Hi, is anybody finding that when using the JAWS 13 latest build that the
shortcut key INSERT SHIFT V does not work to bring up the personalised web
settings dialogue. Also any persnalised settings already set on a site don't
seem to be taken in to consideration. I've got a page which auto refreshes
and no matter what I do I can't stop it using the document refresh setting
even though I've previously set it not to auto refresh.

Peter

Re: Adobe Reader X--robobraille

Ann Byrne

Send the document to
<mailto:convert@robobraille.org>convert@robobraille.org

in the subject line put the file type you wish it to be converted to.

Re: Adobe Reader X

Dean Martineau <dean@...>

Let me emphasize what Ann said here. While JAWS 13 can sort of perform OCR
on graphical pdf documents, I've never been able to get it to work, and if
the document is of any size or seriousness, the feature really isn't
designed for it. On the other hand, using the web interface at
robobraille.org, you get a quick e-mail of the file in your preferred
format, including braille and a lot of others. The quality of the OCR is
good.

Or send it to Robobraille as an attachment, and they will convert it
and send it back.

JAWS 13 allegedly has this functionality, though it is intended to
read a screen at a time. PDF Converter or OmniPage should convert
this picture into readable text.

I have Window-eyes at work. Adobe will not read some documents. It says
empty document or does not come up at all when presented with aPDF file.
It
does this when the emailed material is similar to a picture of words such
as
captcha is.
Any thoughts?

Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] Adobe Reader X

Dave...

You will need to use some sort of OCR to render it to text. This is no
different from JAWS.
