That is just the way it is in Windows 10 for now.

FS is working on some stuff regarding this, but it’s in the early stages and given the bi-annual release of a new major Windows update who knows if it will amlount to anything.

Ever since I installed Windows 10 my Jaws Cursor hasn’t been able to review most dialogues and Windows in the Windows 10 operating system. Many third-party apps work as usual. For instance, I wanted to check Windows Anti-virus was turned on having received a very scarey message that all Defender features were turned off when I rebooted. I couldn't read anything at all in the Jaws cursor  Security  Settings. Same thing  when I invoked the window to launch a full scan. This happens in many but not all Windows 10 windows but I accepted it because Windows 10 is relatively new and my friend has the same issue. But it is so strange and inconvenient that I just have to check. Is this normal?

For whatever it’s worth, I don’t think it would be a good idea to use Outlook/Office 2003 since I doubt this is in any way a supported combination with Windows 10.

I would as a minimum go to Office 2010 and preferably just pay the $59 a year or whatever an individual Office 365 subscription costs which then entitles you to download and use the latest Office version. Currently that is 2016, but when a new one comes out you can then use it..

Re: password manager programs that work with jfw

Steve Matzura

Quick and easy answer: you can't, because it doesn't. Version 4 is not cloud-based, which is why I got it. The more I can stay out of the proverbial cloud, the better. That's the reason why version 6 is subscription-based. You're paying that monthly fee for somebody to maintain your password vault on somebody else's server, which, in my unhumble opinion, is a compromise. I don't like, never have liked, the idea that cloud-based backup means you give your data to somebody else to hold for you, somebody you don't know and think you should trust just because they say you should. Take this to its ultimate extreme, and you'd be right in saying that I don't like banks either. Having worked for two for twenty-six years, what goes on behind the teller's window could fill a book. Yes, they pay you for the privilege of parking your money there, but the things for which that money is used, and how the return on your loan of that money to the bank, called and investment, is gotten, well, it'd curl your hair. It sure curled mine! So keep your data out of the cloud as much as you can. Back up your password vault and give it to a relative to hold, or someone else whom you can really trust, someone who won't charge you for the service.

No, it is not free. There are two versions,.Verion 4 keeps your passwords in a encrypted file locally. Version 6 is cloud-based.

In 1Password, when a appsword is entered on a Website, 1Password
displayws a dialg asking whether it should save that password. If that's
what you want, you enter the master unlock password, then 1Password
prompts you with a name under which to save the Web password. This name
is usually the address of the Website for which the password is
required. You can accept the default, or type any name you wish, then
press ENTER. The way you get 1Password to enter passwords for you is by
pressing CTRL plus BACKSLASH. 1Password prompts for the master unlock
password, you enter it, and 1Password does the rest.

Hi Jed,

I don't know for 1Password because here, I'm using an alternate password manager called "KeePass": https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fkeepass.info%2F&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cdc5513d157ee43c53ba508d58406d6aa%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636560087260603654&sdata=lfP49k7Zs2dFeLHjKoRipeOtdbB19rUw7WcEy3CMeoU%3D&reserved=0

It is a multiplatform open-source software which runs on Windows, Android, iOS, MacOS X and Linux. Although I did not succeed in using it on Linux and MacOS due to its lack of accessibility on these platforms, I definitely use it on my Windows 7 laptop and my Android smartphone.

To answer your question with Keepass, the first time you visit a site which requires an ID, you will need to enter it by hand in your Keepass database but then, you simply need to "copy" the user name and password from Keepass and paste them into your browser. In addition, if you also specify the URL of this site in your Keepass entry, you can directly open it from the Keepass window into your default browser.

Finally, I found Keepass quite intuitive and its documentation complete and easy to read.

HTH, Have a nice day. Chris D

Hello Val. The install is pretty straight forward. You will have to read through the user guide and familiarize yourself with 1Password. If you have an iPhone, it will be easier to manage your passwords on the iPhone. You get a thirty day trial period before you have to decide which type of license to purchase.

I hope that MLB is trying to work out the bugs during spring training, and that the user experience will be much better in the coming weeks.

That may be one of the drawbacks, shortcomings of this new MLB setup, not to include the archive games.

Re: entering contacts into address book with outlook

Good Morning

Here are some shortcut keys that will be useful to you for contacts.

  • Goto Contacts List – Ctrl 3
  • Create New Contact – Ctrl Shift C
  • Create New Group/Distribution List – Ctrl Shift L

If you are looking to add someone to your contacts from an email that you received go to the from field highlight the email address. Then hit your application key and either arrow down to add to Outlook contacts or hit the letter D

Hope that helps

Joe
